Chapter 1438
Terrifying mana gushed from Leon's body like a fountain, constantly growing stronger, sustaining the power needed for the Elemental Storm.
In this clash, even the Skeleton King's Bone Dragon mount was torn to pieces. But for the Skeleton King, this level of Elemental Storm couldn't tear him apart. His skeletal body no longer resembled bone, but looked like a fusion of opaque crystal and metal. Just by relying on his body, the Skeleton King could withstand any spell below the ninth rank. Even ninth-rank spells couldn't destroy his bones unless they had some special countering effect.
After a stalemate of over ten minutes, more and more undead creatures were shredded, and the Skeleton King grew impatient. He raised his staff, the decaying heart atop it thumping wildly. Threads of oily, dark green light erupted from the rotten heart.
These rays fell into the Elemental Storm, turning into clouds of dark green smoke. Even when torn apart by the storm, the smoke slowly merged into it, and as the storm spread inward, the power of the Plague expanded frantically.
Leon drank a potion, and the Death Tome in his left hand flipped open automatically. The long-absent Chapter of Truth suddenly burst with dazzling light. A Crystal Phoenix, as if just awakened, poked its head out from the glow. Its eyes pierced through the cover of the Elemental Storm and countless undead, locking directly onto the staff in the Skeleton King's hand—or more precisely, the rotten heart atop the staff.
The Crystal Phoenix had previously clutched an Eye of the Undead in its talons, but now it was gone, completely devoured and digested. From now on, any power related to the Eye of the Undead would be utterly suppressed by the Crystal Phoenix—and this suppression was far more absolute than the Holy Light's restraint over the undead.
This was the most fundamental suppression!
After the Crystal Phoenix appeared, it let out a cry. Instantly, the plague energy spreading within the Elemental Storm seemed to be drawn toward it, surging madly. The Crystal Phoenix opened its beak and inhaled; in a flash, the rampant plague energy reverted to dark green mist, then to dark green light, and finally condensed into a single drop of dark green blood, which the Crystal Phoenix swallowed.
After swallowing that drop of blood, rainbow flames ignited on the Crystal Phoenix's body. In less than three seconds, the Crystal Phoenix opened its mouth and burped—a wisp of dark green smoke escaped its beak.
The Crystal Phoenix hovered above Leon's head, circling restlessly, itching to attack the Skeleton King and snatch away the Heart of the Plague in his hand.
Such wicked artifacts were the Crystal Phoenix's favorite. If it could devour this object, its power to suppress evil would reach a whole new level. Once it consumed and digested the Heart of the Plague, any plague-related power would be effortlessly neutralized by the Crystal Phoenix.
That was the most fundamental form of neutralization—seeing through evil with the eyes of truth, rooting out corruption at its source, breaking it from the foundation. It was the ultimate solution.
Leon restrained the Crystal Phoenix's urge, keeping it circling overhead to block any potential outbreak of plague power, while he calmly used the Elemental Storm to sweep away the undead.
The Crystal Phoenix, growing agitated, flapped its wings. With a casual sweep, a rainbow radiance poured down, spanning a thousand meters. Within a range of seven or eight kilometers, every undead creature perished instantly—their soul flames snuffed out like candles in the wind.
Their bodies crumbled into decayed bones, tumbling to the ground. As they fell, the bones rapidly decomposed, turning to countless fragments, leaving not a trace of deathly power behind…
Leon shook his head, ignoring the Crystal Phoenix’s venting. So many undead, plus the Heart of the Plague—this was a gathering of evils with the most wicked artifact among them. For the Crystal Phoenix, it was intolerable, and utterly irresistible.
Just managing to stay here and keep watch was the greatest act of restraint…
But Leon knew that if he let the Crystal Phoenix charge in, the only outcome would be the Skeleton King smashing it with his staff, sending it back into the Death Tome to be reborn. With its current strength, the Crystal Phoenix stood no chance against a level forty-seven Skeleton King, especially one wielding Pegg’s staff.
The clearing went smoothly. Though the Skeleton King remained unharmed, he could only watch as his undead legions were wiped out piece by piece. His attacks couldn’t touch Leon either—the plague blood erupting from the Heart of the Plague was the deadliest source of corruption, but in the end, it was devoured by the Crystal Phoenix as if it were dessert.
The standoff continued. After an hour, the last undead was torn apart, its essence consumed by the Chapter of Truth. Leon finally dispersed the terrifying Elemental Storm.
With the Elemental Storm gone, huge clouds of dust drifted down from the sky. The earth here was already hundreds of meters deeper than the surrounding wasteland—the soil had been shredded and swept up by the storm's force, and now it all settled back to the ground.
In this rain of earth, the Skeleton King's body became a blur, charging toward Leon. Dark green rays, like a rain of arrows, shot at Leon.
Above Leon's head, the Crystal Phoenix scattered a rainbow glow, shielding him. When the dark green arrows struck the radiance, their color rapidly faded—the plague energy within was swiftly neutralized, leaving only the pure force of death.

A dense string of sharp sounds rang out as the arrows struck Leon's fusion shield, sending ripples across its surface. Where arrows hit, tiny cracks began to appear.
The barrage lasted several seconds before the Skeleton King suddenly vanished, leaving only a rain of bone spikes, mixed with plague energy, crashing against Leon's shield.
Leon’s expression tightened. He uttered a rule sigil, and in the next moment, the battered Skeleton King appeared behind him—left hand gripping Pegg’s staff, right hand wielding a massive white bone cleaver over five meters long. His jaw moved, the soul fire flickering as it transmitted a string of messages.
“Foolish humans, none can stop the great Pegg’s march. All living things must embrace death beneath the power of the plague.”
Do you think we fear the power of the Sky Monkeys? Wrong! Only death is eternal. The power of plague is the gateway to the great door of death. Embrace oblivion—all those blessed by the Sky Monkeys are powerless to stop us.
