Cici, You Should Listen to My Explanation
Because Charles Yin took a knife for Cecilia Gu, she didn’t refuse him at all and let him step into her bedroom.
Cecilia quickly pressed Charles Yin down onto the seat and reached out to check the bandage on his arm, worried it might have shifted.
Seeing Cecilia’s careful and cautious manner, Charles’s eyes grew even softer.
Charles Yin’s arm was solid and strong.
He was the type who looked slim in clothes but muscular without them.
Now, with his shirt off, his sturdy arm was exposed. Even wrapped in bandages, it radiated an unmatched dominance and striking beauty.
“Don’t be so foolish next time.” Cecilia couldn’t help but mumble, “Look at you, you’re hurt. How are you supposed to work these next few days?”
Charles Yin deliberately sighed, “Ah, you reminded me. My arm’s injured—I can’t even eat properly now.”
Cecilia’s expression changed slightly, but Charles quickly added, “But saving you was worth it!”
Cecilia lowered her gaze, her lashes trembling, unable to hide her guilt.
Seeing his goal achieved, Charles smiled slightly. He reached out and pulled Cecilia to sit in front of him, his eyes serious as he said softly, “Cici, since I’m hurt, can you listen to my explanation?”
Cecilia obediently sat across from Charles, but muttered, “What’s there to explain? Isn’t it obvious?”
Charles smiled helplessly and gently tapped the tip of Cecilia’s nose, his voice unconsciously filled with affection.
“You, you… Even if you’re jealous, at least let me finish explaining before you get upset,” Charles said with a sigh. “If I weren’t so patient, I would’ve lost my temper ages ago.”
Ha, he really dares to say that!
Patient? You?
Come on! You’re the scariest boss in the world!
“I admit, I was wrong that day. But you didn’t give me a chance to explain, did you?” Charles said helplessly. “Then, caught up in anger, I forgot to explain to you.”
“So why are you explaining now?” Cecilia huffed.
“Because I don’t want to lose you,” Charles replied softly.
Cecilia was stunned.
A suspicious blush appeared on Charles Yin’s face.
He wasn’t good at saying sweet things.
This was already his limit.
“Let me start from the beginning—it’ll be easier to explain.” Charles cleared his throat and began, “You probably know a bit about my family, right? I was always the golden child, so naturally, when I was young, I was arrogant and thought the world revolved around me.”
Uh... Charles, you’re still pretty arrogant now!
“I grew up with Sylvia Ran and Sean Kerr. When we were kids, I hung out more with Sean, but in high school, I spent more time with Sylvia. She was only twelve or thirteen back then, so I felt more like a big brother to her. Since our families were all prestigious and our parents got along well, everyone naturally hoped I’d end up with Sylvia.”
“As I got older, Sylvia became more dependent on me, and we naturally ended up together. I admit, Sylvia was my first love, and we did have some sweet, happy times.” Charles decided to lay everything bare today—otherwise, his little mole would keep sulking forever.
Hearing this, Cecilia understood, but still felt a sour discomfort in her heart.
“We were only together for two years. She was sixteen and I was twenty when it became official. But after two years, she suddenly left without a word. I couldn’t understand why she avoided me, so I searched the world for her. Honestly, I can’t describe how I felt—it wasn’t exactly love, more like pride. I was used to being treated like royalty.”
“Her sudden disappearance made me feel like I’d been played, and I wanted answers. So I started searching everywhere for her. But then, my family had an accident. My parents dragged me back from Europe, and on a mountain road in China, we got into a car crash. That crash nearly brought Yin Enterprises to a crisis it hadn’t seen in a hundred years. My father went missing, and there was no trace of him. I was in the front seat and took the brunt of the impact. My mother, trying to push me out, ended up with her legs crushed under the overturned car.”
“By the time we got to the hospital, my mother’s legs couldn’t be saved, but I was completely unharmed. From that day on, I swore I’d never let anyone hurt my mother again. With my father missing, Grandma took charge of Yin Enterprises and pulled the company back from the brink. I witnessed it all firsthand. That experience made me grow up fast, and I began taking over the family business under Grandma’s guidance.”
“Yin Enterprises is bigger than you can imagine. As a direct heir, I was constantly targeted by distant relatives. To keep my position, I had to be tougher than them. That’s how I became who I am today, and how Yin Enterprises became what it is. Only after proving myself did the company truly accept me as its CEO.”
“But, Cici, you know what? None of that was ever hard for me. The hardest thing was having a complete relationship. After the car accident, my mother changed a lot. To help her recover, Grandma and I sent her to a clinic in South America for six years of treatment. During that time, her emotions couldn’t be disturbed at all, or it would ruin everything.”

“Cici, I’m not good at sweet talk, but I can promise you this: I’m a man of my word. I’m not a scumbag—I’d never do something like Zhang Guodong! That day, shopping, dating, eating, and watching a movie with you—it was my first time, and I meant every word I said. Cici, I... I like you. I hope you’ll trust me, just this once. What I’m about to say will hurt, but I need you to believe me, okay?”
“That day, I got a call from my mother. She specifically asked me to divorce you and marry Sylvia Ran. To keep her stable, I agreed.” Charles finished and watched Cecilia’s expression closely.
Sure enough, Cecilia’s face went pale.
Cecilia tried to pull her hand away, but no matter how hard she tried, Charles wouldn’t let go.
“Cici, I promise you this—I won’t let go, and I won’t let you leave. I’ll handle the Sylvia Ran situation. As soon as my mother’s treatment is over, I’ll make sure they give up this ridiculous idea.” Charles looked at Cecilia seriously, brushed the hair from her forehead, and pulled her close, unable to resist kissing her on the forehead.
“My mother’s treatment will be finished soon, and I can’t mess things up now, so I’m sorry you have to put up with this.” Charles continued, “But you saw it yourself—even though I agreed to date Sylvia Ran for my mother, I brought you along too! Let’s use this as an opportunity for our own date, okay?”
Cecilia turned away, not answering.
“In about half a month, my mother will finish her treatment and come back. I’ll do my best to win her approval! Cici, I just want to ask you—when you said at the cinema that you’d overcome anything to be with me, did you mean it?” Charles looked at Cecilia with hope.
Cecilia met Charles’s longing gaze, her heart in turmoil.
She really had fallen for Charles Yin and wanted to be with him.
But could she really do it?
Did she really have the courage to go up against his mother?
That day on the phone, her attitude was crystal clear—she didn’t like Cecilia at all. She hated her!
She even hated Cecilia’s child.
But to just give up like this... she really couldn’t bear it.
Charles had opened up to her so much today—if she pushed him away again...
Wouldn’t she be too... heartless?
Seeing Cecilia hesitate, Charles panicked. He quickly covered her mouth, his brows furrowed: “Cici, I don’t want to hear you say no! I don’t want to! Even if it costs me everything, I’ll keep you by my side! I won’t let you leave!”
Hearing Charles’s domineering declaration, Cecilia slapped his hand away and sighed, “I get it. I’ll do my best.”
What kind of answer is that?
But Cecilia didn’t want to say anything more.
Sylvia Ran was destined to be a thorn in their hearts.
Impossible to pull out, impossible to swallow.
“Cici, I hope the one who walks through life with me is you.” Charles’s eyes softened, hiding all his dominance. In front of Cecilia, he couldn’t bear to hurt her with his harshness.
Charles never understood what it meant for one thing to conquer another. Now he finally did.
He could command the world outside, be king of everything.
But in front of her, he only wanted to give her all his tenderness.
He didn’t even know when he started thinking this way.
By the time he realized his feelings, he was already in too deep, unable to escape.
Charles was like this, and so was Cecilia.
Cecilia sighed softly—the battles ahead were going to be tough...
