One Man Guards the Pass

Whoosh!

A sharp sound split the air.

Faye Zheng, who was in the line of fire, jumped in shock and instinctively dodged to the side.

The little blue-and-white porcelain bowl grazed her cheek, then smashed straight into the face of the sneering rich heir.

There was a dull crack, and right before everyone’s eyes, the rich heir’s head snapped back from the blow. He lost his balance and crashed to the floor.

The blue-and-white porcelain bowl shattered into countless pieces, leaving bloody cuts all over his face—a gruesome sight at a glance.

"You actually dared to hit someone!"

Someone shouted in shock and anger, their voice full of menace.

Faye Zheng’s face flushed red with fury, rage surging up inside her.

This punk just beat up her friend right in front of her—he wasn’t giving her any respect at all!

Too arrogant!

"So what if I smashed him? What, you mad?"

Evan Lin stood up from his chair, glanced at his worried mother Joy Zheng, and flashed her a reassuring smile. "Mom, it’s fine. They’re just a bunch of small fry. Don’t worry about it."

"Who are you calling small fry?!" Faye Zheng snapped sharply.

"That’s going a bit too far." Gavin Pan was startled too, but still did his best to keep his cool.

"Enough, Faye. You guys, take him to the hospital. Stop making a scene!"

Claire Zheng’s brow furrowed, her eyes now tinged with anger.

"Mom! Didn’t you see? He’s the one who started it! There’s no way this is just going to end here!" Faye Zheng shouted.

"That’s right! You can’t just mess with our people! He’s just some kid from a small county—doesn’t know his place at all." Leo Li nodded in agreement, glaring at Evan Lin’s back with a dark look. "Aunt Claire, stay out of this. This is between us and him!"

"If you’ve got the guts, kid, then come out here right now. Let’s settle this score properly, outside!"
