With Evil King Scorch gone, only Evil King Darren Duan remained on the island, together with a gravely injured Evan Yang.
Although Evan Yang was lying down, he could still think and hear what they were saying. He was curious about where this place was and why he could always hear the sound of waves, as well as the occasional cry of birds.
Every day, Evil King Darren Duan's first task on the island was to check Evan Yang, to see if he had woken up or showed any signs of waking. But Evan remained silent, and with no news from Evil King Scorch, Darren grew frustrated, often cursing at Evan Yang lying beside him.
It wasn’t until the day Evan Yang could finally extend his Divine Sense that he realized he was on a tiny island. The island was so small it could barely hold a few dozen people, and all around was sea water. But this water was unlike the outside world: it was pale purple near the surface, and pitch-black deeper down. He couldn’t sense what lay below, as his Divine Sense couldn’t penetrate it.
Evan Yang knew that if he wanted to escape from Evil King Darren Duan, his only chance was to dive underwater the moment Darren hadn’t noticed him, so Darren’s Divine Sense couldn’t find him. But he would have to act quickly, or he’d be discovered as soon as he moved.
Evil King Darren Duan had no idea what Evan Yang was planning. Every day, he would go crazy, wanting to hit someone but finding no one to hit. Eventually, he’d fly into the air and blast the surrounding sea water, venting his rage at a fixed time almost every day.
So Evan Yang timed it carefully. Once he felt better, he would make his move—but only when Darren was in the air and he could quickly dive into the water.
Finally, one day, Evan Yang’s body recovered enough, though he kept pretending to be unconscious. As Evil King Darren Duan once again soared into the sky, madly attacking the sea to vent, Evan waited.
As soon as Darren entered his daily routine, Evan Yang snapped his eyes open, flashed to his feet, and dove into the nearest patch of sea without looking back, swimming straight for the depths.
Of course, Evil King Darren Duan noticed and roared in fury, "Damn it, trying to escape? No way!" He frantically attacked the spot where Evan Yang had disappeared, then dove into the water himself.
But after searching all around, Darren couldn’t find a trace of Evan Yang. He finally burst out of the water, scanned from above, but still saw nothing. He shouted, "Kid, stop hiding! The longer you stay underwater, the worse it is for you. This isn’t ordinary water!"
Evan Yang, deep underwater, heard Evil King Darren Duan’s voice explaining that this water was unusual. He was also curious about what kind of water it was.
Seeing the area still quiet, Evil King Darren Duan shouted angrily, "Kid, I’m not joking! Stay down there for an hour and your body will start to weaken. If you stay a whole day, your body will be corroded—your soul will be destroyed!"
Hearing this, Evan Yang decided that even if his soul was destroyed, he wouldn’t come out. He kept swimming downward, hoping to find a way out. Darren snorted coldly, "I don’t believe you won’t show yourself. I’ll just wait here."
Darren thought Evan Yang would come out within an hour, but no sign appeared. He frowned, "Is he really not afraid of death?"
Meanwhile, Evan Yang started feeling his body grow cold and his strength decline. He frowned, "Is it really getting worse?" Still unconvinced, he kept swimming deeper, while Darren waited above.
After a whole day passed with no sign of Evan Yang, Darren roared at the sky, "Damn it, if you want to die, this isn’t the way!"
In Darren’s eyes, Evan Yang should have died by now. So, after staying on the island for a few more days, he left in defeat. After all, Evan Yang had no chance of surviving—so it always went.
But a few days later, Evan Yang hadn’t disappeared. Instead, he was hiding in a cave, one that wasn’t affected by the sea outside. He stayed there for several days, and when he finally recovered, he opened his eyes and said, "Heaven hasn’t abandoned me. Luckily, I found such a miraculous cave underwater."
Evan Yang had to admire his own luck. In such a vast sea, with Divine Sense suppressed, he’d managed to find a cave. At the most critical moment, after several hours when his soul was growing weaker and he was about to pass out, he saw a light and rushed in without hesitation.
After rushing in, he arrived at an underwater cave completely isolated from the outside.
Evan Yang got up, feeling refreshed, and looked around the cave. It was narrow, with no other exits. In front of him was a stone pillar, glowing faintly—the very light that had shone outside and drawn him in.
"What is this?" Evan Yang wondered as he approached the stone pillar.
Evan Yang stared at it for a long time, curious about what was inside. He reached out to touch the pillar—and suddenly, a stabbing pain shot through him, a soul-deep agony that flooded his entire body.
"Ah!" Evan Yang cried out, gritting his teeth to endure it. He tried to pull his hand away, but it was stuck, as if absorbed by the pillar, unable to move at all. He could only suffer as whatever was inside tormented him.
Purple-Mystic Moon, moon shines on spirit; spirit births soul; soul does not perish; perishing makes it stronger. Deep in Evan Yang’s soul, a voice suddenly spoke these fifteen characters, echoing in his mind.
"Who are you?" Evan Yang asked, enduring the pain.
"Don’t ask who I am—I don’t know either. Just remember these fifteen words. One day, you’ll understand." the voice replied.
Evan Yang wanted to ask more, but the voice vanished. His hand came free, and the agony faded.
But the pillar’s light was gone, and now a shining purple orb, bright as a full moon, appeared in his hand, lighting up the cave. Seeing this glow, Evan Yang remembered the first three words of the mantra: "Purple-Mystic Moon? Is this the Purple-Mystic Moon?"
After a while, Evan Yang muttered, "The mantra says 'Purple-Mystic Moon, moon shines on spirit.' What does that mean?"
As soon as he spoke, the light enveloped Evan Yang. He felt as if something was being infused into his body, a surge of power. The orb, bright as the moon, vanished and merged into him.

"Purple-Mystic Moon? Moon shines on spirit? Does it mean it shines on the soul?" Evan Yang wondered, then studied the next line: 'spirit births soul.'
What did 'spirit births soul' mean? Evan Yang wanted to see what would happen after absorbing this strange thing. When he checked, he was startled—his soul was growing stronger, yes, it was getting stronger, and kept increasing.
"Spirit births soul? Does it mean the soul grows stronger? And 'soul does not perish'—does it mean the soul is immortal, or something else? And 'perishing makes it stronger'—what does that mean?" Evan Yang sensed the mantra’s mystery. He had many guesses, but wasn’t sure which was right. Still, he was certain he’d gained something good, because his strength was increasing.
To be precise, his soul was growing stronger. He wasn’t sure if it would affect his body, so Evan Yang stayed in the cave for a few days to check. His body was fine, and his soul kept strengthening, though it slowed down over time. So, Evan Yang got up, looked around, and left the cave.
Leaving the cave, he was hit again by that uncomfortable feeling. Evan Yang rushed to the surface, searched for the island, and seeing no one, muttered, "Darren must think I’m dead."
Once he confirmed Darren had left, Evan Yang began flying across the vast sea, choosing a direction and sticking to it. He was afraid of getting lost, so he kept going in a straight line. As he flew, he cursed Darren for picking such a remote place—it was so far from land that after half a month of flying, he still hadn’t reached his destination.
Meanwhile, Darren, after leaving, found Evil King Scorch and told him about Evan Yang’s ordeal. Both were furious, but could only plan to regroup with their subordinates and prepare for the next battle.
But soon they ran into Saint King Wood and Saint King Cheng.
The four of them stared at each other.
"Where is he?" asked Saint King Wood.
"He’s dead," Darren replied.
"Impossible. He wouldn’t die so easily," said Saint King Wood.
"Why would I lie to you? He brought it upon himself—it’s not my fault," Darren said.
"Stop lying. What really happened?" Saint King Wood was clearly angry at the news of Evan Yang’s death.
"He went into the depths of the Purple-Mystic Sea himself. It’s not my fault," Darren said.
"Purple-Mystic Sea? You went there?" Saint King Wood exclaimed.
"That’s right. How else could we avoid your pursuit? But he wanted to die—he went to the bottom of the sea. I searched for three days and nights and he never showed up. Do you think anyone could survive there that long?" Darren snorted.
Of course not. Saint King Wood knew that place—even they could only last a day there before their soul was destroyed. For Evan Yang to survive three days was impossible.
"Damn it, I’ll avenge him!" Saint King Wood said angrily.
"I can’t be bothered with you. Next time, we’ll come back for your Saint Kings," Darren snorted. He left because he worried other Saint Kings would arrive. Without Evan Yang as a threat, they’d all turn on him and Scorch in anger.
After Darren and Scorch left in anger, Saint King Wood cursed, "Damn it."
"Should we chase them?" Saint King Cheng asked.
"No, let’s hurry and take this news back. We need to discuss it with Saint King Mei and the others," said Saint King Wood.
Saint King Cheng nodded, and the two returned to the Saint King’s Temple.
At that moment, Master Zhao Ling and Saint King Mei were gathered together. Master Zhao Ling asked, "How did it go?"
"He entered the Purple-Mystic Sea and didn’t come up for three days and nights. He’s likely dead," said Saint King Wood.
"What? How did that happen?" Master Zhao Ling was shocked. Saint King Wood explained to Master Zhao Ling and Saint King Mei. When he finished, Master Zhao Ling clenched his fists in anger. "Damn it, I won’t forgive Darren for this."
"Now we have to think about how to hide this news from that woman. She already has a child—if she learns about this, I fear…" Saint King Mei sighed.
