Urgent Report, Where Is Ninth Royal Uncle
Felix Fuller discovered a major irregularity at the temple, but he couldn’t make it public. Instead, he had to silence everyone present, forbidding them from speaking of it.
If the officials learned that Lady Min may have colluded with outsiders to escape, then what would the deaths of the guards who died protecting her mean?
And what about all the corpses scattered across the temple grounds?
In that case, not only Lady Min, but even Ninth Royal Uncle would be branded as traitors to the state.
Felix Fuller dared not let too many people examine the scene, lest they uncover more evidence against Lady Min. He ordered everyone to follow the traces and pursue the murderer’s whereabouts, keeping the Minister of Justice behind to inspect the details alone, hoping to find anything that might help Lady Min.
General Warren Yu might have changed into a civil official’s robe, but at heart, he was still a soldier through and through. No matter how scholarly he dressed, he couldn’t shake his battlefield style.
No one knew where General Warren Yu got a long spear, but when he arrived at the city gate with his men, he charged straight to the front, thrusting the spear so it jammed under the advancing war-wagon, forcibly halting its progress.
Creak… Creak.
The war-wagon refused to give in, trying to crush the spear blocking its path. General Warren Yu gripped the spear tightly, his broad official’s robe unable to hide the muscles bulging beneath.
Spear and war-wagon strained against each other; the spear was already bent out of shape, but General Warren Yu didn’t retreat a single step, relying on sheer strength to hold the war-wagon back.
“Brothers, go—tear this thing apart!” The Imperial Guards, finally catching their breath, charged forward and smashed the war-wagon to scrap metal, venting all their pent-up fury.
Second Lu’s heart bled—these war-wagons were the work of half his life, now destroyed. How could he not feel devastated?
“Ah!” Second Lu howled and drove another war-wagon madly toward Warren Yu, forcing him to retreat all the way to the city gate.
But did he really think he could hurt Warren Yu this way?
That was wishful thinking.
“Go, capture him alive!” Even cornered, General Warren Yu kept command of the situation. Second Lu’s shout gave himself away—Warren would be ashamed not to seize him.
With Second Lu captured, even the mightiest war-wagon was nothing but a pile of scrap.
“Damn!” Only then did Second Lu realize he’d been tricked. With the war-wagon’s control mechanism in hand, he couldn’t decide whether to drop it or hold on. He tried to leave, but couldn’t bear to abandon the machine; by the time he finally made up his mind, it was too late.
“Don’t move.” A guard’s spear pressed against Second Lu’s neck—one wrong move and they’d skewer him.
“I, I…” Second Lu looked sleazy, his small, triangular eyes darting around—clearly a troublemaker. Just as Warren Yu stopped the Imperial Guards from wrecking the war-wagon, he saw Second Lu’s shifty, rodent-like face.
“Dislocate his limbs and jaw.” Warren Yu prided himself on reading people—someone like Second Lu needed strict supervision.
“No, my hands…” Second Lu tried to struggle or bargain, but as soon as he spoke, his jaw was dislocated. He could only glare with his beady eyes, unwillingly watching his hands being crippled.
For a master of precision mechanisms, his hands were as vital as those of a surgeon—perhaps even more skilled.
If Serena Feng were here, she would certainly praise: “Those are an artist’s hands.”
Unfortunately, those artist’s hands were ruthlessly crippled by Warren Yu. Whether they could ever be restored was now a troubling question.
“Ah…” As his hands were crippled, Second Lu sobbed and sniveled. Warren Yu, disgusted, turned away; recalling Second Lu’s restless eyes, he ordered heavy shackles to keep him from escaping.
Clearly, looks do matter—if Second Lu had William Wang Jinling’s refined appearance, Warren Yu might not have been so harsh.
With Warren Yu’s intervention, the chaos at the gate was quelled. Yet the gate remained sealed by William Wang Jinling’s order, and Warren Yu led a citywide search for Vincent Su and the Grand Empress Dowager.
Alive, they must see the person; dead, the body. Even if they had to dig up the earth, they would find Vincent Su—otherwise, they could not answer to Ninth Royal Uncle.
William Wang Jinling also felt unable to answer to Ninth Royal Uncle.
When William Wang Jinling arrived at the Su residence, it was already a ruin—hundreds dead, and the two masters missing, fate unknown.
Standing amid the corpses, William Wang Jinling’s face paled—not from fear, but from anger.
Under his watch, someone dared commit murder in Eastlyn’s imperial city—it was as if they were defying the gods themselves!
