Accidentally Entering Joined-Peak Mountain
Evan Yang returned to himself and smiled, "It's nothing, just that the Ice-fire Successor has appeared."
"Oh? Really?" Keira Quinn said excitedly.
"Yeah, it's already happened. I wonder why Senior is asking about this?" Evan asked curiously.
"It's nothing. But now that the Ice-fire Successor has appeared, it's time for me to leave," Keira Quinn said with a smile.
"Why?" Evan looked at Keira Quinn with suspicion. Why would she leave just because the Ice-fire Successor appeared?
"That's a private matter, nothing important. But since you're from the Water Temple, I'll send you to the Tenth Gate. Or do you want to stay and cultivate on the tenth layer?" Keira Quinn asked.
"I'll go to the next layer," Evan replied.
"Then I'll take you down one layer. Let's go," Keira Quinn said. Evan followed her, and soon they reached the surface of the water. The giant fish looked at Keira Quinn and Evan with a puzzled gaze, but it seemed very afraid of Keira Quinn, floating there motionless.
After Keira Quinn and Evan stood on its back, Keira Quinn said to the giant fish, "Go over there."
The giant fish followed Keira Quinn's instructions, carrying them across the water's surface. The surrounding fierce beasts dared not approach. Evan had originally planned to use the fish, but hadn't expected there was a master living inside it.
After a short while, Evan Yang arrived at the Tenth Layer's gate. Keira Quinn smiled and said, "Go ahead. I hope I get to see you again back at the Water Temple someday."
"You will, thank you, Senior." Evan replied, then jumped into the glowing portal, entering the trial.
Keira Quinn left with the giant fish, returning to the place where Evan had entered from the Ninth Layer. She said to the fish, "Friend, I'm leaving. Until we meet again."
With that, Keira Quinn vanished in the blink of an eye. The giant fish paused for a moment, then happily spun around in the water, feeling once again like the undisputed ruler of its domain.
Evan hadn't expected the appearance of the Ice-fire Successor would make this reclusive cultivator disappear. By now, Evan was already inside the trial.
Ahead stood a water-attribute expert. Under Evan's Ice-fire assault, the opponent couldn't hold out and was eventually defeated, letting Evan pass.
"When did the Water Temple have someone this strong?" the Water Temple gatekeeper muttered.
Evan entered the Eleventh Layer. This layer was full of magma, with the ground covered in scorching rocks and liquid flows. It was impossible to walk below, and flight was restricted to low altitude. Fortunately, Evan easily handled it with Ice-fire and Sacred Flame.
At the Eleventh Layer's gate, Evan entered the glowing portal and challenged a Fire Temple cultivator.
After passing the trial, the Fire Temple cultivator was left trembling. The feeling of being frozen by Evan made it hard for him to believe that an Immortal Lord could have such power.
Upon entering the Twelfth Layer, Evan Yang pressed on as usual. He was determined not to give up, especially since the rumored Earth-Rock Aegis technique might appear by the Fifteenth Layer.
He continued from the Twelfth to the Fourteenth Layer, with each level getting harder.
When he reached the Fourteenth Layer, he found both fire and water present—the whole place was a world of steam. Evan didn't linger and went straight to the entrance of the Fifteenth Layer.
"Almost at the Fifteenth Layer. Keep it up," Evan thought, realizing it was getting more exhausting. He wondered what kind of formidable experts would appear in this layer.
Once inside, he discovered there were actually two people—one water-attribute, one fire-attribute.
The water-attribute guardian smiled and said, "From the Fifteenth Layer onward, each gate has at least two opponents."
Evan was surprised. "I see. Please, both of you, grant me your guidance."
"An Immortal Lord making it this far is already impressive. Are you sure you want to try?" the fire-attribute guardian asked.
Evan smiled, "You never know unless you try."
"The two of us are at least eighth-tier Emperor Realm. Together, our power is terrifying. Are you still going to try?" the fire-attribute guardian said.
"That's right. Let's do this," Evan said.
"Alright, since that's the case, let's begin," said the water-attribute guardian.
Evan stood his ground as the two guardians exchanged a glance. One attacked with fire, the other with water, launching a joint assault. Evan began by gauging their strength before counterattacking.
Knowing that water and fire naturally clash, Evan often used their mutual restraint to dodge and disrupt their attacks. When the guardians saw Evan was 'playing' with their attributes, they got serious.
They started staggering their attribute attacks and added other methods, making the fight much harder for Evan. After all, two eighth-tier Emperors weren't easy opponents.
Evan kept dodging their combined attacks using his own techniques.
Finally, he seized an opportunity. "Freeze!" Evan shouted, and the fire guardian was instantly frozen in place. The water guardian was shocked and quickly attacked Evan with water, but Evan simply reversed the flow, sending the water surging back and freezing it instantly.
As a result, the water guardian was also frozen. Both were stunned, unable to believe Evan's water control could create such hard ice blocks.
"Thank you, both of you," Evan said with a smile.
"You've passed," said the water guardian.
Evan smiled, then unfroze the fire guardian before leaving.
The fire guardian watched Evan's departing back and said, "Since when did the Water Temple have someone this strong?"
"No idea," the water guardian replied, shaking his head.
Evan had already entered the Fifteenth Layer. The environment here was terrifying—swamps, lakes, and rocky terrain all jumbled together chaotically.
Not only that, but while flying at low altitude, fierce beasts would suddenly leap out of the swamps to attack Evan before diving back in.
On top of that, toxic miasma filled the area. For most people, the poison would be deadly, but for Evan, it was nothing to worry about.
"Fifteenth Layer... better find a place to stop for a bit." Evan found a mountain, landed there, and released his spirit bird to scout the area. He wanted to get a sense of what this layer was really like.
A day later, Evan had the entire layout of the Fifteenth Layer memorized. Seeing the surroundings, he was shocked—this layer was much larger and far more dangerous than the earlier ones.
Thinking about it, he wondered where the expert carrying the Earth-Rock Aegis would show up.
"If that person came here to cultivate, logically they'd look for places with lots of condensed earth, but if they're just searching for something, they could be anywhere," Evan muttered to himself.
