Judge Parker watched from the side, his face covered in black lines, and couldn't help but remind, "King Yama, if you keep shaking him like that, he might lose his soul entirely."
"Ah? Oh!" King Yama finally calmed down, released the dizzy Little Reaper from his grip, and asked, "Did she say anything?"
After a moment of dizziness, Little Reaper thought for a bit and answered, "She said, 'Tell King Yama I'm fine, and I want this ghost!'"
"Oh... is that so!" His precious granddaughter wanted that ghost, so he would give it to her. After all, the underworld had no shortage of ghosts!
Clearing his throat, King Yama spoke solemnly, "Ghosts are not saints; who can be without fault? To know one's mistake and correct it is the greatest virtue. I won't punish you for losing your soul—make up for it with good deeds in the future!"
Judge Parker watched his pompous act and couldn't help but twitch his lips. Clearly, this was favoritism and bending the law, yet he could say it with such righteous conviction. No wonder he was King Yama!
Little Reaper hurriedly thanked him, completely forgetting that it wasn't his fault to begin with!
Spring was bright and beautiful, with birds singing and flowers blooming.
Morgan Shangguan lounged lazily on the swing in the courtyard, looking every bit the idle young lady of a noble family.
"Ryan Ouyang, aren't you going to tell me your identity?" Her tone was casual, as if she wasn't truly curious and was just asking out of habit.
Ryan Ouyang spoke up, "There's nothing to hide. I'm already dead, so none of it matters anymore. Besides, anyone could ask around and learn my identity."
"Oh?" Morgan Shangguan looked at him with interest. "So you're rather famous, then?"
Susie Yun came out carrying pastries and tea, overheard their conversation, and laughed, "Ryan is actually the leader of the Demonhunters Guild!"
Morgan Shangguan stepped off the swing and sat down on a stone bench. She picked up a cup of tea, took a sip, and her eyes sparkled with delight—she clearly liked it.
Susie Yun asked curiously, "Miss, what kind of flower is this? It's beautiful, and the tea it makes is so fragrant!"
Morgan Shangguan took another sip and looked at the transparent blue tea, with a crystal-blue flower floating on top. "This is Blue Mist Blossom tea. It grows in places of deep shadow and helps with my cultivation." After a moment, she added, "Let's plant some in the courtyard from now on!"
"Hmm?" Susie Yun asked in confusion, "Didn't you say this flower only grows in places of deep shadow? Will it survive here?"
"That's easy." Morgan Shangguan didn't explain her method, instead changing the subject, "Tell me about the Demonhunters Guild!"
Maybe the Demonhunters Guild was well-known, but she truly didn't know much about it.
Susie Yun hesitated for a moment, but then remembered Morgan Shangguan hadn't been in Silvermoon Kingdom for long, so it was normal not to know.
In short, the Demonhunters Guild was second only to the Grandmaster's Estate among the righteous sects of the martial world. Ryan Ouyang dedicated his life to eradicating evil, earning the respect of the virtuous and the hatred of the wicked. This time, he was suddenly hunted by the Ghost Guild and couldn't escape—so he lost his life.
Susie Yun, though she seemed gentle, was actually the Guardian of the Demonhunters Guild before marrying Ryan Ouyang, and her martial skills were not weak.
Ryan Ouyang listened quietly, but couldn't help sighing. "I don't know what will happen to the Demonhunters Guild now that I'm gone. The Ghost Guild will surely destroy it!" When he mentioned Ghostmaster, his tone turned bitter. "That Ghostmaster is truly vile, always using underhanded tactics against us. He won't miss this opportunity! Killing me was all part of his plan!"
Susie Yun held his hand to comfort him. Suddenly, her eyes brightened and she looked at Morgan Shangguan. "Miss, why don't you take over the Demonhunters Guild?" She knew the guild well—though there were many capable people, none truly fit to be its leader.
Morgan Shangguan sipped her tea leisurely, as if none of this concerned her. After a long pause, she mused, "Why call it Demonhunters Guild? 'Demon Guild' sounds much better!"
Ryan Ouyang was taken aback, and Susie Yun didn't know what to say. Ryan had always hated evil—how could he ever call his own sect the Demon Guild?
Morgan Shangguan traced her thumb along the rim of her cup and raised an eyebrow at Ryan Ouyang. "From what you're saying, the Demonhunters Guild has always been suppressed by the Ghost Guild, right?"
Ryan Ouyang grew agitated again. "That's because Ghostmaster is despicable!"
Morgan Shangguan interrupted him, her tone calm. "Regardless of the methods, the result is that the Demonhunters Guild is being suppressed by the Ghost Guild."
Ryan Ouyang couldn't refute her. Then he heard Morgan Shangguan say, "I can take over the Demonhunters Guild, but from now on it's mine. I'm the leader—what I say goes."
Ryan Ouyang hesitated. He really couldn't see through this woman. He had already agreed to work for her, but if he handed over the Demonhunters Guild as well, and she brought disaster upon the world, wouldn't he be the culprit?
Susie Yun didn't think too much about it. She seemed to trust Morgan Shangguan completely and smiled, "Of course!"
Morgan Shangguan looked at Ryan Ouyang, saw his reluctant nod, and smiled with satisfaction. She needed power, and such an opportunity was too good to pass up.
In the study, Ethan Gu reported solemnly, "Prince Damien, Ryan Ouyang is dead, but a young man has taken over the Demonhunters Guild. Now the guild has been renamed the Cloud Guild. He ousted the old elders and promoted several young people, drastically changing the rules. The current Cloud Guild... looks more like a cult! It's nothing like it used to be."
Seeing Prince Damien unmoved, Ethan Gu asked, "Your Highness, should we take this chance to bring the Cloud Guild under control?"
Prince Damien replied coolly, "No need."
Ethan Gu was puzzled, unsure whether to ask further. Prince Damien kindly explained, "Competition brings progress. The Ghost Guild needs a rival, and so do I. Otherwise, life would be rather dull."
Let's see if that person is worthy of being his opponent!
In the Shadow Court, Ryan Ouyang sulked in a corner while Susie Yun tried to cheer him up like a child. Meanwhile, the real culprit happily ate pastries, praising, "Susie Yun, your skills are wonderful! Even better than the chefs at my old villa."
