Unexpected Developments

2/27/2026

After learning about the Soul-Devouring Divine Sword’s abilities, Evan Yang finally understood why it was called the Soul-Devouring Divine Sword—if it could easily swallow even an Immortal Sovereign’s soul, its terrifying power was obvious.

Putting away the sword, Evan felt a bit weak. This was the limit of his current ability; if he were to face Titus Skyflood with the Soul-Devouring Divine Sword, he would surely be blocked. So he planned to wait until his strength improved before settling accounts with Titus. For now, he needed to return to the Yang Clan, explain a few things, then go into seclusion, and finally enter the Otherworld.

This journey would be fraught with dangers; Evan only wished to see his family once more.

But in the Chaos World, a furious roar echoed: 'How dare you—who dares kill my disciple?'

Evan arrived at the Star Sea and saw his parents.

When they saw Evan return, his mother curiously asked, 'Did you handle everything?'

'Mom, actually, I didn’t come back to stay long. Before I go into closed-door cultivation, I wanted to see you all,' Evan said with a smile.

Hearing that Evan was going into seclusion, his mother calmed down, feeling there was nothing to worry about.

'How long will you be in seclusion this time?' Yang Lin asked.

'I’m not sure—it could be decades, maybe centuries, or even longer. I’m almost at Emperor peak, and soon I’ll have to break through to Immortal Sovereign. How long that will take, I don’t know,' Evan replied.

"Evan, your father believes in you. You can definitely become an Immortal Sovereign and stand at the peak," Yang Lin encouraged him.

"Thank you, Dad," Evan said with a smile.

"Mom believes in you too," Evan's mother said with a smile.

At this moment, Yang Ming and the others also showed trusting looks, hoping Evan would return soon.

After saying goodbye to them, Evan left the Yang Clan with a heavy heart. Maybe it was the first time he had lied to them, and he didn’t know if he would come back alive.

"What’s wrong with me?" Evan muttered with a bitter smile, seeing how worried he was about himself.

He then collected himself, preparing to head toward the Wood Temple.

Just as he was about to leave, he saw three people he really didn’t want to see.

"Evan, we finally found you," said Lan Wind, with Cole Wood and Lord Ridge behind him.

"You guys are pretty good at finding people," Evan said with a smile.

"Originally, I planned to lure you onto a planet, but it didn’t work out. Then I heard you left the Wood Temple, so I guessed you’d return to your old nest and came to check. Last time, I just sent people from the Fire Temple—this time I came myself. What do you think? Welcome me?" Lan Wind said with a smile.

Evan knew that if Lan Wind and Cole Wood released their true power, using their original bodies, he definitely wouldn’t be able to resist.

"Smart move—looks like I’m caught this time. So, what do you want?" Evan asked.

"What do you think? Where are the Three Gods’ Exclusive Artifacts?" Lan Wind asked.

"You said I went to the Wood Temple, so of course I gave them to Elder Woodspirit. What else did you expect?" Evan replied with a smile.

"If that’s the case, there’s no point in keeping you." Lan Wind snorted, then left his body, and a strange creature with a long tail appeared.

Its eyes stared at Evan, tongue stretching out long, muscular arms, and spoke, "Evan, I’ve been holding back so Elder Woodspirit wouldn’t notice. Now, let’s see who can protect you."

"You too—transform, since you’re all in this together," Evan said to Cole Wood.

Cole Wood flashed out of his body, and another strange creature appeared—one entirely red, the other entirely black.

"Aren’t you going to introduce yourselves?" Evan said with a smile.

"I’m Agent Firebane, he’s Darkbane. Now you understand?" Agent Firebane said with a smile.

"Got it—Otherworld creatures, right? I know I probably can’t escape today, but you won’t take me down easily either," Evan said with a smile.

"Oh really? Let me show you how I’ll take you down," Agent Firebane sneered.

At that moment, Lord Ridge spoke up, "You two, isn’t this a bit much for this guy? Let me handle it."

"You? Impossible. We all know his strength—except for us two, you can’t defeat him," Agent Firebane said.

"Not necessarily. I’ve just been hiding my strength. Now, I’ll show you my real power." Lord Ridge said with a smile, and his energy suddenly surged, entering the solid stage.

Agent Firebane was stunned, then looked at Lord Ridge. "You actually have this strength—why bother making deals with us?"

"Because I was just joking with you," Lord Ridge suddenly laughed.

He then turned to Evan and said, "Let’s go to the Earth Temple, as fast as possible."

Evan didn’t know why he should trust Lord Ridge now, especially since Lord Ridge clearly had his own motives.
