Why Do I Keep Thinking About Him

1/4/2026

The coldness had replaced the sadness and compassion on Leo Li’s face. His voice was icy: “He might escape today, but he won’t escape tomorrow! If push comes to shove, I still have the Divine Edict. I refuse to believe Sigil Sect dares defy a direct order!”

None of the immortals dared to speak.

......

“Dad, are you okay?” Nine Li was really worried about Lord Faustin. The way he’d just coughed up blood was seriously scary.

“My tongue hurts,” Lord Faustin said.

“Your tongue hurts? How does your tongue hurt?” Nine Li was confused.

“Because he bit his own tongue!” Lily Bai chimed in from the side. “Otherwise, where would the blood come from?”

Lord Faustin shot her a sideways glance but didn’t reply.

Lily Bai bowed to Master Victor Chung. “Thank you, Master Victor!”

“Sigh!” Master Victor Chung let out a long breath. “This is all I can do to help!”

But I suggest you stop trying to dodge, Faustin! Right now, at least, they’re still being polite. If it gets to the point where they issue a Divine Edict against you, it won’t be pretty for anyone, will it?”

“Old Chung, thank you!” Lord Faustin slurred, his tongue thick. “I get it! I just want a little more time to really think things through!”

Master Victor Chung nodded.

“Oww! Master Chung.” Nine Li clutched his chest. “I was stuck underwater for days, and I still feel awful. Can you take a look at me?”

Master Chung nodded. “Let’s go! We’ll head to your father’s place, and I’ll prescribe something for both of you.”

Lord Faustin sent Lily Bai back to rest first, while he and Nine Li, two patients, went off to see the doctor together.

Before leaving, Lord Faustin comforted Lily, telling her not to worry—he’d take care of everything.

Watching his slightly hunched figure walk away, Lily Bai frowned, anxiety written all over her face as she headed to her own small courtyard.

She used to only worry about her family, but now she was anxious for the whole Sigil Sect too.

The Sigil Sect had three thousand disciples, but only the inner disciples had the ability to sense and break the Array Cores of the Wildlands Tribulation Thunder Array.

There were fewer than a hundred inner disciples; even if every one of them died, it was uncertain whether they’d manage to find all twelve Array Cores.

Leo Li made it sound so easy, but wasn’t every disciple someone’s treasured child back home?

How could anyone just talk about sending people to their deaths so casually?

Besides... every time someone brought up breaking the array, she felt a strong resistance deep in her heart...

Lily Bai’s little courtyard was nothing like the grand halls of the Eastern Luo Palace, but it was small, elegant, and she loved it.

She didn’t like the dark, so she’d hung up a few luminous pearls to keep the place bright and cheerful.

She could see a good number of fallen leaves scattered across the courtyard.

There were even a few weeds growing in the flowerbeds.

She hadn’t been home in days—it was definitely time to tidy up.

The Sigil Sect had people assigned to cleaning, but Lily didn’t like anyone wandering into her courtyard.

She glanced sneakily out the window, set up a Spirit Barrier, closed her eyes, and started chanting the spell in silence.

When she opened her eyes again, Damian—under his Chen Xiao disguise—was standing right in front of her.

And if the Thunder Array really was broken... what would happen to Damian?

No matter how strong he was, there’s no way he could fight off all those Divine Race cultivators!

Would he... die?

She remembered the day he’d been struck by tribulation lightning, his flesh burned and torn—her heart twisted painfully at the memory.

"Ugh! Why am I hurting for Damian?" Lily clutched her head. "Why can’t I stop thinking about him? Is it possible that I..."

She suddenly thought of the Lovebound Summoning Art.

Lord Hades said this spell could condense the person you truly love into a physical form, and they could even help you with things!

Was... was that really true?

She glanced sneakily out the window, set up a Spirit Barrier, closed her eyes, and started chanting the spell in silence.

When she opened her eyes again, Damian—under his Chen Xiao disguise—was standing right in front of her.
