Fiona Wang rubbed her neck and groggily opened her eyes. "W-where am I?"
"Obviously, you're in your own room," Amy replied nonchalantly.
Fiona Wang jolted awake, remembering last night's events. She stared at Amy, tense and wary. "Who are you? What do you want? Don't do anything crazy—I’m a celebrity! If I die here, it’ll be a huge scandal!"
Amy looked at Fiona Wang with a half-smile, half-smirk.
Lucas Lin spoke up to explain, "Relax, we’re not here to kill you. We just want you to help us act out a scene."
Fiona Wang looked completely confused. "What? What are you trying to do?"
"We want you to tell everyone that you and Amy are good friends, and that you introduced Amy to me," Lucas Lin said simply. "Then, say that Amy and I fell for each other at first sight and decided to be together."
"Why should I help you?" Fiona Wang retorted instinctively.
"Because you don’t have a choice." Amy toyed with a fruit knife, tracing it near Fiona Wang’s face. Fiona shuddered. "Just think—if that pretty face got slashed, how long would it take to fix? Actually, maybe it’d be better if it never healed. That’d save money, right?"
"Don’t do anything crazy! No! Don’t come near me!" Fiona Wang shrank back, her face pale as the cold blade flashed in front of her eyes.
"Now the whole world knows I'm with Amy. Whether you help or not, it doesn't matter," Lucas Lin said. "I'll solve this myself. But you! You didn't finish the task the company gave you. What do you think they'll do? Your sponsor might get you some resources, but that's only a small part. As for endorsements and the like, you can forget about them."
Amy put away the knife, while Fiona Wang tried her best to stay calm.
Honestly, Lucas Lin was right.
She hadn't completed the company's assignment, and now she couldn't ride the publicity wave. If she didn't have a hit soon, being sidelined by the company was only a matter of time.
Lately, her sponsor was already starting to lose interest in her.
She was afraid she'd be thrown away before long.
If she pissed off Lucas Lin, her future would be even harder.
Lucas Lin was on the rise, with resources pouring in.
Fiona Wang was always realistic and quick-thinking; she instantly figured out what was going on.
Fiona Wang spoke, her voice trembling, "You two have already announced you're together. Even if I say I set you up, will anyone out there actually believe it?"
"Whether they believe it or not is up to them," Lucas Lin said confidently. "But whether you do it or not, that's your business."
Fiona Wang sneaked a glance at Amy. She didn't really believe Amy and Lucas Lin were an actual couple.
Something about them just felt off.
No couple in love would sit so far apart—they looked more like strangers.
But honestly, that wasn't Fiona Wang's problem.
Fiona Wang took a deep breath and said, "Fine, I can agree to cooperate. But I have conditions."
"Go ahead," Lucas Lin felt an inexplicable sense of relief.
"I don't care what you two are really up to, but if it's for publicity, you have to include me," Fiona Wang said through gritted teeth. "I'm from the variety show world—I don't have any real works to support me. If I don't have buzz, people will forget about me fast. This season's show, the ratings are way down. So if you're doing variety shows, you have to take me with you!"
Lucas Lin's lips curled up, a hint of pleasure showing: "Deal."
Anyway, he rarely did variety shows.
