Heaven Knows, Earth Knows, You Know, I Know

"Miss Grace," Serena Jane said nervously. "As a humble nun, I have no choice but to tell the truth. You might as well admit it!"

"I'll kick you to death!" Grace lunged at Serena Jane again.

"Are you rebelling?" Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu shouted angrily. "Someone, hold her down!"

Two female guards stepped forward, ready to restrain her.

Grace Wan rushed over to shield Grace, urging, "Grace, don't be impulsive! There must be some misunderstanding here. Let's talk it out!"

After calming Grace, she turned to Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu, "Mother! Please calm down! Evan Xiao is our family's sworn enemy, and Grace knows that. How could she be so foolish as to go to the enemy's house... as a concubine maid? I trust Grace—she would never do something so outrageous!"

"Hmph! What shameful thing hasn't she done?" Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu's gaze was icy. "Last New Year's, didn't she try to sneak into the Emperor's bedchamber?"

Faced with this indelible black mark on her record, Grace felt a little embarrassed.

But she quickly regained her composure and said matter-of-factly, "Grandmother, I'm about to be made an imperial consort, so I'm not afraid to talk about it! I snuck into the Emperor's bedchamber because I truly care for him—my feelings are as clear as day and night! Why would I go to the General's Manor? I don't even know that general!"

Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu glared at her, but said nothing.

Grace Lawrence has been hopelessly infatuated with the Emperor since years ago, chasing after him relentlessly.

Now, suddenly tangled up with the General's Manor, she couldn't help but feel suspicious.

"Madam Dowager, Prime Minister, she's lying!" Eric Chen, still sore from Grace's slap, finally caught his breath and started accusing again. "I swear on my life, I didn't mistake her identity!"

"Every word I said is true," Serena Jane insisted, nervously repeating her claim.

The Dowager's eyes flickered before she suddenly asked, "Abbess Serena Jane, did you just say the young lady gave you a hundred gold coins and many pieces of jewelry?"

Grace had never liked her grandmother.

But she couldn't deny that the old lady was sharp-eyed and meticulous to the extreme.

To fuel the Dowager's suspicion, Grace immediately put on a nervous, flustered act, her face flushed as she accused, "Serena Jane, are you that old thief who stole my jewelry?"

"Amitabha! Miss Grace, heaven knows, earth knows, you know, I know! Every word I said is true!" Serena Jane swore passionately. "Besides, I'm just a weak woman—how could I possibly sneak into the Prime Minister's Residence and steal anything?"

"Servants!" the Dowager commanded coldly. "Go to Moonwater Abbey and bring the items Abbess Serena Jane mentioned!"

"Yes, Madam!" The Dowager's trusted aide immediately rode off at top speed.

Serena Jane's face twisted with pain, but she didn't say a word.

Soon enough, the servants returned with the items Serena Jane had described—a bundle stuffed with gold and jewelry.

Aunt Autumn presented the bundle to the Dowager for inspection.

The Dowager glanced at the bundle—and her expression changed instantly.

Ethan Zhu saw the Dowager's reaction and his heart skipped a beat.

Could it really be Grace's jewelry?

He shot Grace a fierce glare, then squeezed in beside the Dowager to get a closer look.

Upon closer inspection, he uttered a puzzled, "Huh?"

This isn't Grace's jewelry at all!

It's clearly Cynthia's!
