Confrontation

2/14/2026

Serena Feng stared at the unmoving "corpse" lying there, knowing that today, no matter what, she had to save this person—otherwise, she'd be in real trouble.

Sigh, with her personality, she’d probably stir up even more trouble in this era.

But what can she do?

Even knowing it would be trouble, she had no choice but to bite the bullet and get involved.

As a doctor, she simply couldn’t stand by and watch someone die, especially when there was a chance to save them.

If a doctor does nothing, isn’t that basically the same as committing murder?

No matter what others thought, at least Serena Feng could never just stand by and watch.

She cherished her own life, and she cherished the lives of others too.

Taking a deep breath, she tossed aside all those messy, burdensome thoughts.

She was a doctor—she had to do everything in her power to save people. Anyone else could give up on a patient, but a doctor never could.

His breathing was faint, his heart had stopped, and there was no heart-lung resuscitation machine—so she’d just have to use the most primitive method.

Even though messing this up could cost her own life, she had no other choice.

Serena Feng reached out and pressed on the left side of the 'corpse's' chest. After confirming the spot, she raised her arm and struck down hard.

From the look of it, it was anything but a rescue.

At least, that’s how it looked to Vincent Su.

Thud—a muffled sound rang out, and the 'corpse' in front of Serena Feng jerked up, then crashed back down heavily.

Vincent Su’s eyes bulged in shock.

Thud, thud, thud... The pounding kept echoing, and the 'corpse' kept bouncing. There was nothing about it that looked like saving a life—it was clearly just beating up a body.

The officers behind her kept wiping cold sweat from their foreheads.

Did this Miss Feng really think that by beating up the 'corpse' enough, she could bring it back to life?

The officers sneered. Whatever little respect they had for Serena Feng vanished with her strange methods.

Women are just women—they should stick to embroidery at home, not expect too much from them.

Claiming he wasn’t dead? She was just making a spectacle of herself.

Now her true colors were showing, weren’t they?

The officers mocked her with disdain, secretly planning to tell their wives about Miss Feng’s ridiculous antics so their own women would behave themselves.

Vincent Su wanted more than once to step forward and pull Serena Feng away, but every time he hesitated. Somehow, when she moved, she seemed solemn and dignified.

With each strike, Serena Feng used all her strength. Vincent Su, watching from behind, saw her movements were swift and powerful.

But if Vincent Su stood in front, he’d see Serena Feng was panting heavily...

Still, her eyes were unusually bright—she could feel the heartbeat returning beneath her hands. Maybe just one more strike would do it!

Thud...

With that final blow, Serena Feng used every bit of strength she had—and the 'corpse' beneath her hands not only jerked, but started to cough.

Cough, cough...

It was a faint sound, but everyone in the morgue heard it clearly. There was no way they’d mistaken it. Vincent Su, forgetting all noble composure, shoved Serena Feng aside and rushed forward...

"Leon, Leon..." He clutched the boy, tears in his eyes.

Vincent Su’s eyes were misty with tears.

Alive—his brother was alive, truly alive!

Every doctor had said Leon was dead. He’d even hired the best coroner to find out why Leon had died so unexpectedly.

He just couldn’t believe that healthy Leon could die so suddenly.

Something was definitely wrong!

Ignoring his family’s objections, he’d insisted on bringing in a coroner—and that decision had ended up saving Leon’s life.
