In the end, Julia Yu tossed the pillow aside in defeat.
Forget it. If I can't figure it out now, I'll wait until I can. There's plenty of time, anyway.
Anyway, there's plenty of time to think about it.
The next morning, at sunrise.
When Julia Yu got up, she found Lisa Li was already awake, dressed, and sitting on the living room couch, as if waiting for her.
"Do you have something to say to me?" Julia fastened her watch on her wrist and asked casually, "Were you waiting for me?"
Lisa Li lifted her chin and looked at Julia. "Max Mo, my older brother, asked you to be in charge of my matchmaking. You didn't forget such an important task, did you?"
Julia's hand paused as she was fastening her watch.
Julia looked at Lisa, incredulous.
Lisa used to love girlish makeup—pink or earth-toned eyeshadow and cherry blossom lip gloss were her favorites.
But today, Lisa had switched to dark red eyeshadow and a deep red lipstick.
Clearly, whatever happened had hit Lisa hard.
Julia withdrew her gaze and said, "I'll report to Max Mo about this."
Lisa stood up and said to Julia, "It's your responsibility to get me married. Julia, you'd better be careful."
Julia wasn't sure what Lisa meant by 'you'd better be careful.'
But Julia soon understood what Lisa meant.
Lisa was out for revenge.
Back at the office, Julia reported yesterday's work to Max Mo first, then mentioned Lisa: "This morning, Lisa suddenly brought up wanting to continue matchmaking. I'm not sure if she's in the right state for it. After what happened to her, the news can't be kept under wraps. I'm afraid a lot of people already know what Lisa's been through. Rushing into matchmaking now might not be good for her. If you agree to let her continue, I suggest we don't do it in N City, but in Y Province instead. That way, the news won't spread, and Lisa can have some time to recover."
As soon as Julia put down her phone, Snow Grace knocked on the door and entered. "Congratulations on getting your ticket to high society! Tonight is your celebration party—I got you a giant cake. Don't get too emotional!"
"Yes, I understand," Julia nodded. "I'll re-screen the candidates and make a new matchmaking plan for her."
"The factory is running smoothly now. I'm planning to promote Mr. Song Sr. as the general manager. Hand over the factory matters to him," Max Mo instructed. "Starting next month, you'll be transferred to my side as chief assistant and chief legal advisor. How do you feel—any pressure?"
Julia smiled at his words. "Pressure is motivation. Thank you for your trust, Mr. Mo. I won't let you down! I'll do my best."
"Excellent." Max Mo grew more appreciative of Julia. "I have four chief assistants, but I'm creating a fifth position just for you. All five of you are my right-hand people—work well together."
"Yes, Mr. Mo." Julia replied with a smile.
Back at the office, everyone was congratulating Julia.
Becoming Max Mo's chief assistant meant she'd finally gotten her ticket to the top.
Julia had relied on her skills and talent to earn her way into high society.
Especially since she's a woman.
It's truly inspiring!
So, nearly everyone in the company—whether at headquarters, branches, or subsidiaries—sent Julia messages congratulating her on her promotion.
Julia's office was also moved from a shared assistant space to a dedicated chief assistant office.
The other four chief assistants greeted Julia warmly and welcomed her to the team.
Actually, Julia had already been doing the work of a chief assistant for a while.
So there was no need for any adjustment—she could jump right in.
The world always favors those who are smart and willing to work hard.
Opportunities are always prepared for them.
Cecilia Gu heard the news and sent Julia a message, congratulating her for achieving her dream and becoming the person she always wanted to be.
Julia happily replied to Cecilia's message.
As soon as Julia put down her phone, Snow Grace knocked on the door and entered. "Congratulations on getting your ticket to high society! Tonight is your celebration party—I got you a giant cake. Don't get too emotional!"
"Thank you," Julia said to Snow Grace. "And also, thank you for what you did yesterday."
Snow Grace shrugged. "No big deal, happy to help."
At the celebration banquet that evening, not too many people were invited—mostly company staff, but some guests brought by executives, like Stephen Song.
Stephen Song is Vice President Song's nephew. Now that Vice President Song has returned to China, he's taken over as general manager of a Mo Consortium subsidiary.
To many people, the Song Family is practically the hottest name in town.
So when Stephen Song appeared, he immediately drew everyone's attention.
But as soon as he arrived, his gaze locked onto the star of the evening—Julia Yu.
"Congratulations, Julia," Stephen Song said, handing her a gift with both hands. "You've achieved your dream."
"Thank you, I'm glad you could make it," Julia replied with a smile. "How have you been lately?"
"Pretty good," Stephen Song said, a hint of shyness in his eyes. "I don't know if you'll be busy now that you've changed positions, but you still owe me a meal—remember?"
Julia laughed. "Look at me—I totally forgot about that. Sure, I'm up for it. Should we make a reservation?"

"Great," Stephen Song said happily. "I'll wait for your call."
From afar, Lisa Li saw Stephen Song talking to Julia and sneered.
Why is it that after she was ruined, Julia can still have men looking at her differently?
Hmph, she won't allow it.
Lisa Li, holding a glass of wine, walked over to Stephen Song. "Mr. Song, long time no see."
Stephen Song was stunned for a moment before he realized who was standing in front of him.
But after just a few days, why had she changed so much?
Last time, Lisa was just petty and mean. This time, she radiated an unsettling aura.
"So it's Miss Lisa Li," Stephen Song greeted politely. "Long time no see."
"Why so formal, Mr. Song? After all, we've been on a date before." Lisa subtly moved closer, trying to close the distance. "Honestly, since I saw you last time, I've..."
Stephen Song discreetly stepped back. "Sorry, excuse me, I think my uncle is calling me."
Without waiting for Lisa's reaction, he turned and walked toward Vice President Song.
He wasn't blind—he could clearly see Lisa's ill intentions.
Girls like that are better kept at a distance.
Lisa stomped her foot in frustration.
Hmph, no matter who likes Julia, she'll make sure to ruin it!
At the banquet, many people complimented Julia. Luckily, she was used to these occasions and handled herself gracefully.
After the banquet, Julia didn't go home. Instead, she drove to the hospital entrance.
This time, she didn't go in. She just watched from afar as her father and stepmother sat on the steps in the hospital's small garden, quietly discussing how to raise money for Leo Yu's surgery.
Julia sighed, took out a bank card, put it in an envelope, and handed it to the hospital security guard. "Sir, could you please give this to the couple sitting on the steps?"
"Why don't you go in yourself?" the guard asked, puzzled.
"Parking's tough in there," Julia made up an excuse. "They're my relatives. I'm just here to help."
The guard, who saw all kinds of people at the hospital every day, understood life's ups and downs.
Seeing this young woman willing to drive over late at night just to deliver money, he figured she must be kind and loyal.
So he gladly took the bank card and hurried to deliver it.
Julia's father, hearing the guard's explanation, didn't even take the card—he rushed toward the hospital entrance.
But he only managed to catch a glimpse of Julia's car before it disappeared.
His eyes filled with tears. At fifty years old, he squatted on the ground and began to sob uncontrollably.
People nearby watched him, their eyes filled with sympathy.
Hospitals are like a mirror reflecting society.
So many bittersweet stories play out here.
A man crying so sadly must be facing troubles he can't solve.
In life, how many people truly have it easy?
Julia's stepmother held the bank card, feeling its weight, unsure what to say.
Julia sent the money, but wouldn't come inside. In truth, she still couldn't forgive them.
But she still cared about her ten-year-old brother, so she secretly brought the money without seeing them.
Her stepmother gently patted her husband's back. "We owe her. If she ever wants to, there will always be a place for her in our family."
Julia's father turned and hugged his wife. "Julia has grown up."
Yes, Julia has grown up.
She no longer needs parental love.
Now, when they finally want to give her love, she doesn't need it anymore.
Driving away, Julia felt a weight lift after giving the money. She felt much lighter.
Her father was right.
She wasn't a child anymore.
She no longer needed warmth from others—she could give herself all the warmth she needed.
Her finger swiped across the screen and stopped at Stephen Song's number. She dialed: "Hey, are you free to hang out?"
Stephen Song, receiving the call, quickly put his jacket back on. "Of course, where at?"
