As soon as Max Mo stepped into the house, he sensed something was off with the atmosphere.
Sophie Mo greeted him at the door, "Bro, you’d better watch out. Things aren’t looking good!"
Max Mo glanced sideways at Sophie Mo with his blue eyes, said nothing, and simply nodded, "Is the old man back?"
"Grandpa’s always with the troops, probably hasn’t come back, right?" Sophie Mo stiffened, then turned to leave, "Oh, I just remembered something I need to do, so I’m heading out…"
"Ahem!" A loud cough echoed from inside, "Both of you, get in here!"
Sophie Mo couldn’t help but smack her forehead and mutter under her breath, "I knew Grandpa was back. It’s never good news when he shows up!"
Max Mo chuckled and shook his head, then walked in with Sophie Mo.
Sure enough, the man sitting in the center of the living room was none other than General Mo.
"Grandpa." Max Mo and Sophie Mo greeted him obediently.
"Hmph, do you two even remember you have a grandfather?" General Mo was just over seventy, and while most people his age would be retired, he still held an important position—there was a reason for that.
"Grandpa, we just didn’t know you were coming back!" Sophie Mo hurried over, acting all sweet, and started massaging General Mo’s legs. "Grandpa, why didn’t you give us a heads-up before coming home?"
"A heads-up? So you two could run off again?" General Mo snorted. "I don't know what kind of karma the Mo Family has, to end up with grandkids like you! Just look at yourselves—neither of you acts like a proper man or woman."
Sophie Mo couldn’t help muttering, "How am I not like a woman? All I did was run away from a wedding..."
"You still dare to talk back?" General Mo glared, and Sophie Mo instantly shut up.
Who could’ve imagined that Sophie Mo, who always looked so delicate and fragile, would actually dare to defy her family and run away from marriage?
Even Cecilia Gu probably wouldn’t have guessed it, right?
Now, only Max Mo and Sophie Mo, the brother and sister, lived here all year round.
Everyone else was working out of town, so whenever General Mo wasn’t home, the siblings basically did whatever they wanted.
The Mo Family is mainly a military and political clan—either you join the army or go into politics.
Only Max Mo and Sophie Mo are the odd ones out, choosing to go into business instead.
