He’s Not Stupid at All
Lucia Lu strode over to Sean Shaw. "Let's go!"
Sean led her away, and in the blink of an eye, they vanished from the Divine Guard Barracks.
Henry Xiao was so furious he could barely stand it. After a moment's thought, he turned and ran off to find His Majesty the Celestial Emperor.
"Huh? What brings you here?" the Celestial Emperor asked.
"Father, did you send Sean and Lucia Lu on a mission?" Henry Xiao asked bluntly.
"Yes, I did. Why?"
Henry Xiao asked gloomily, "What kind of mission? Why does it have to be on a rest day? Mother wanted me to bring Divine Lady Lucia back to the palace."
"Oh..." The Celestial Emperor responded, sounding casual. "Why does your mother want her?"
"She said she wants to give her a present."
"What present?"
"I think it's the birthday tribute sent from the Lumina Realm for your birthday. She wants to pass it on to Divine Lady Lucia."
"Oh..." The Celestial Emperor nodded. "Then take her back to the palace first. The mission isn't urgent."
Henry Xiao's eyelid twitched. "So, you're saying it doesn't have to be today?"
"Mm-hmm."
Henry Xiao took a deep breath and clenched his fists.
Sean Shaw!
"Anything else?"
"No, that's all. I'll take my leave now, Father." Henry Xiao turned and walked away.
...
Lucia Lu and Sean Shaw rode the same cloud, flying toward the direction of the Primeval Demon Wilds.
They sat in silence.
After a long while, Sean finally spoke. "Um..."
"What is it?" Lucia Lu asked.
"Are you mad at me?" He was definitely not stupid.
"No... Why would I be mad?"
Another stretch of silence.
After a while, Sean said again, "Last night, I wanted to ask if you could not let Snow Yuan come anymore?"
Lucia Lu looked at him in confusion. "Me? Let her come? I barely know her, why would I invite her?"
Sean frowned.
He'd only allowed Snow Yuan and Qi Xiaowu to join the class because he didn't want to embarrass Lucia Lu.
But he hadn't expected Snow Yuan to deliberately twist the story.
"Do you like her?" Lucia Lu suddenly asked.
"No!" Sean answered, firm as a hammer. "I don't like her—I just knew her since we were really little, that's all."
"So you treat her like a little sister?"
"I don't even treat her as a little sister..." Sean replied. "She's just... an ordinary person."
"Then who do you like?" Lucia Lu stared at him.
"I..." Sean glanced at her, then immediately looked away like he'd burned his eyes.
Lucia Lu raised an eyebrow. "Let me guess, maybe you like..."
She deliberately slowed down her words.
Sean hung his head, his heart pounding like thunder as he gripped his own hands tightly.
"Cloudrise!" Lucia Lu laughed, "Do you like Cloudrise?"
Sean Shaw turned to her in shock, his face blushing, then shifting into exasperation.
"Just kidding!" Lucia Lu said with a laugh.
Why is he so shy?
Sean fell silent, sitting there by himself, lost in thought.
"Hey! What are you thinking about? Tell me about the mission!" Lucia Lu said. "Where exactly are we going? What are we supposed to do?"
Sean snapped out of it and started explaining the mission to her.
After listening, Lucia Lu asked, "Does His Majesty the Celestial Emperor have a portrait of him?"
"Yes. It's in this jade slip," Sean said. "Take a look."
Lucia Lu took it and glanced at the image. "Looks pretty much like I imagined!" she said.
"He definitely won't show his real face," Sean said. "It won't be easy to find him. We'll probably need help from the King of Silver Clementine and your Rune Master friend."
"The King of Silver Clementine is his sworn brother, so maybe he has something the target used before. We could use that as a medium and ask the Rune Master to track him down?" Lucia Lu suggested.
