Battle Against Venerable Solus

1/19/2026

Evan Chu's Frostbane Sword once again unleashed a terrifyingly powerful sword-qi attack. Because he activated the Unicorn Arm, this strike was far stronger than the last—instantly, the space of the Divine Battlefield rippled and twisted violently, as if on the verge of being torn open.

Venerable Solus was instantly shocked—he could clearly sense that Evan Chu’s strike was more than twice as strong as the previous one. At this level of power, he might suffer serious injury. Dodging was no longer possible; the only way to break this attack was to answer with his own strongest move.

But he was a bit worried whether Evan Chu could withstand his own strike—if he accidentally killed him, his tens of thousands of years of waiting would be wasted. Yet if he held back, he risked being seriously injured himself. For a moment, Solus felt truly conflicted.

But at this critical moment, he made his choice—only by preserving his own life could he rise again. If his soul body was gravely wounded, recovery would be nearly impossible. He couldn’t let himself be harmed, so Evan Chu would have to take the hit. Solus just hoped this kid could survive it; if Evan ended up seriously injured, seizing his body would be even easier.

Having resolved this, Solus’s black longsword sank slightly, then slashed out at high speed. As the sword descended, a dragon’s roar echoed across heaven and earth—a massive black dragon, dozens of meters long, materialized in front of Evan Chu.

This black dragon’s body was half-real, half-illusory, impossible to distinguish. Evan Chu no longer had time to consider the details—his only thought was to critically wound or even kill his opponent as quickly as possible.

The appearance of the black dragon made the space tremble even more violently. Around the dragon, countless waves of powerful sword-qi surged—if any of them struck Evan Chu, the consequences would be dire. Even with Jade Chu and Tom Chu’s protective barriers, he might not withstand it, because the black dragon’s greatest trait was devouring: it could swallow any defensive energy, including the shields from Jade and Tom Chu.

“Lin Feng, dodge—this Solus is actually using an Immortal-Realm martial art, how despicable! With Jade and Tom Chu’s current strength, they absolutely can’t block it. You can’t let them get hurt!” Luna, the sword spirit, shouted urgently.

Evan Chu’s Star-Cleave attack collided with the black dragon. He could clearly see his sword-qi being slowly devoured by the dragon—if this continued, the strike would be completely ineffective against Solus, not even as strong as his first attack.

At the same time, his arm was still numb—a reaction from using the Unicorn Arm. Seeing this, Evan Chu immediately aborted his sword-qi attack and flashed several hundred meters away. Because he forcibly interrupted his technique mid-cast, he suffered an energy backlash and couldn’t help but spit out a stream of pale gold reverse blood.

His face was a little pale, but the damage from the backlash was quickly repaired by the powerful wood element within his body. “Big Sis Luna, does this mean there’s no way to kill him now? Let me try lightning!”

“It’s useless—unless Venerable Solus is already heavily injured, your lightning attacks won’t work on him. But unleashing that last move must have cost him a lot of energy. You should use your speed and martial skills to slowly grind him down—maybe you’ll find a chance to win.” Luna advised.

Evan Chu understood Luna’s meaning—he needed to keep exhausting Solus’s energy. Once Solus ran dry, he’d be easy prey. But Evan had no idea how much energy Solus actually had; if his own Chaos Dragon Force ran out first, he’d be walking right into the tiger’s jaws.

At that moment, Solus spoke: “Frostbane, you really are clever. You knew my attack could seriously injure or even kill you, yet you endured the pain of interrupting your own technique. Not bad. At first I regretted using this move—if I killed you, my tens of thousands of years of waiting would be wasted. But now you’ve given me hope. Today, I’m taking your body for sure.”

“Keep dreaming! If you want my body, you’ll have to wait for your next life!” Evan Chu sneered. With a thought, he summoned the lightning element from the sky, and a massive bolt came crashing down.

It wasn’t that he ignored Luna’s advice—he had no choice but to release the gathered lightning. Maintaining it drained his mental energy, and to wear down Solus, he’d have to keep dodging. If he left the area controlled by the lightning element, all his effort would be wasted.

A lightning bolt as thick as a bucket instantly crashed down from the sky. Venerable Solus’s realm and strength were far above Evan Chu’s, but the lightning was too fast and took him completely by surprise. To his dismay, the bolt was pitch-black—a type of lightning Evan had never seen, but Luna recognized it immediately.

She couldn’t help but exclaim, “Oh my god, that’s Soul Lightning! I can’t believe you managed to summon Soul Lightning this time. Solus might actually be seriously injured—Lin Feng, this could be your chance to kill him!”

Evan Chu was stunned. The name ‘Soul Lightning’ was new to him; before, his lightning had always been red, purple, or gold. The sudden appearance of black lightning was both unexpected and shocking.

At that moment, Solus was struck head-on by the black lightning. As thick as a bucket, its force was immense. Soul Lightning’s target is the soul itself—and for a soul body like Solus, it was pure nemesis.

Seeing the Soul Lightning flash down, Solus’s face changed drastically—a sense of unprecedented crisis filled his heart. Dodging was impossible; he could only muster all his energy to resist the terrifying attack.

Solus’s attack power was formidable, but against Soul Lightning he was helpless—no matter how strong, he was still a soul body. In an instant, the lightning enveloped him, and a wave of excruciating pain tore through his very soul. The force of the Soul Lightning ripped at his essence, and in just a few breaths, his form shrank by roughly a third.

Evan Chu was shaken to the core. “Lin Feng, what are you waiting for? He’s completely unable to fight back right now—your Soul-Cleave will hurt him even more than Star-Cleave! Don’t hesitate, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance. Whether you can kill him today all depends on you!” Luna urged.
