What Did I Do Wrong

1/4/2026

Hearing his son say this, Uncle Chen was instantly satisfied.

As soon as Cherry Miller reached Yina Yin's side, she let out a heavy sigh of relief.

Seeing Cherry Miller's expression of utter relief, Yina Yin couldn't help but ask, "Cherry, what's wrong?"

"Nothing," Cherry quickly composed herself and asked, "Did you need something from me?"

Yina Yin apologized, "It's actually a small thing. Sorry, Cherry, I forgot you took the day off today. Did I disturb you?"

"No, no, no! Not at all!" Cherry shook her head vigorously. The interruption was perfectly timed! If only it had come sooner, it would have been even better!

Seeing Cherry's reaction, Yina's guilt eased a little. She shoved the items in her hands into Cherry's arms. "I can't do this, you handle it!"

"What is this?" Cherry looked at the pile of loose threads in her arms, puzzled.

Yina's face flushed. "It's today's craft class. I can't manage it! Please help me out!"

Cherry looked helpless. "You've never passed craft class since you were little. Still can't now. Fine, I'll do it."

Yina Yin was overjoyed by Cherry's reply. She hugged Cherry and planted a big kiss on her cheek, her eyes sparkling. "Awesome! I knew you were the best! I'm off to play basketball! Zeke challenged me to a game. That little brat actually thinks he can beat me! Hmph, I'll make him cry for losing!"

Cherry laughed, "Alright, I get it! I'll take care of it!"

Just as expected, Yina ditched Cherry and happily ran off to play.

Cherry pulled up a chair and sat on the balcony, carefully following the pattern as she started embroidering.

Cherry was skillful and precise with her embroidery—a talent she’d been forced to develop thanks to Yina Yin!

Because Yina's craft class had always been a disaster, Cherry often helped her out to avoid getting scolded.

Over time, Yina's craft skills stayed terrible, but Cherry got really good at it.

So, in the end, Cherry ended up doing most of Yina's craft assignments.

Since craft class was just an elective, it wasn't that important anyway.

So the teachers just turned a blind eye!

No one really dared to make things difficult for the eldest Miss Yin!

So later on, Cherry basically did all of Yina's craft work.

Cherry was completely focused on her embroidery when her phone rang. Without even looking, she answered with her headset. "Hello? This is Cherry Miller."

There was a brief silence on the other end. "Cherry, it's me."

It was Ethan Yin calling.

Cherry shuddered, and the needle jabbed her finger. She cried out in pain, "Ah!"

"What happened? Where are you? Are you hurt?" Ethan Yin heard Cherry's cry and couldn't help but ask, "Is something wrong?"

Cherry pulled out the needle, blood beading on her fingertip, but she replied, "It's nothing."

After a moment of silence, Ethan finally asked, "Why haven't you answered my calls or replied to my messages these past few days?"

"I..." Cherry bit her lip, her eyes flustered. After struggling for a long time, she said, "I... Actually... Ethan... we... we..."

"You're calling me 'Young Master' again?" Ethan Yin's voice rose slightly on the phone. "Didn't we agree to be together?"

"I... I... Ethan, I'm sorry." Cherry steeled herself, squeezed her eyes shut, and forced herself to say everything in one breath: "We can't keep making this mistake! I'm not good enough for you! I'm just a lowly assistant—neither my looks nor my family background are worthy of you! What happened at the airport was my fault. I shouldn't have said those things! Back then, I was just worried about you and Miles Gu coming back safely, so I spoke out of turn and without shame. I sincerely apologize! I've had time to cool down and think these past few days. Acting on impulse isn't real love. You're such an amazing person, you deserve the best woman in the world. Who am I to stand beside you? Madam and Sir have been so kind to my family—how could I make things difficult for them? So, Ethan, please don't contact me again! I'm sorry!"

Ethan Yin was silent on the other end for a long time.

He really was much more mature than other boys his age.

He didn't ask 'why' in a hysterical way, just calmly asked, "Did I do something wrong?"

"No, it was my fault," Cherry said firmly. "I crossed the line! Please punish me, Ethan."

Ethan sighed softly and changed the subject. "Miles Gu and I should be back in a few days. Things are moving faster here than we expected. Will you come pick us up? I got you a gift."

Cherry clenched her fist and pressed it hard against her chest.

Hearing Ethan's words, Cherry felt a pang in her heart.

"Ethan..." Cherry struggled to speak.

Ethan seemed not to hear Cherry and continued, "This time, when we get back, we're not leaving again for a while. My parents have gone off on a world honeymoon, leaving everything to us. Miles has his own family stuff to handle, so that's why we've been delayed. But it's all worth it. Oh, and I heard Saint Diana Academy is teaming up with other schools for a campus festival—first time ever! We'll be back before the festival starts."

"Ethan..." Cherry bit her lip, but couldn't get the words out.

"Alright, I'm dealing with a time difference here, so I'll let you go. Take care of yourself, don't get hurt. Keep an eye on Yina—don't let her get into trouble. That's it, I'm hanging up!" Ethan said, and ended the call.

Listening to the busy tone on the other end, Cherry's frown slowly relaxed.

Why won't he listen to me?

Why does he always talk to himself like that?

Cherry knew about the campus festival.

It's a joint event between Saint Diana Academy and other schools.

The principal said that shutting themselves off would only make students arrogant.

So they decided to collaborate with other schools to strengthen relationships.

And also to help Yin Enterprises train a new generation of core talent.

The campus festival will be at the end of May, so it's less than a month until they're back.

Cherry suddenly stood up.

What could happen in this next month?

For some reason, a sense of unease started to spread through her heart.

If Ethan finds out about her blind date with Eric Chen, knowing his personality...

Cherry suddenly didn't dare to think any further.

What should I do?!

Forget it, there's no point stressing over it now.

Just take it one step at a time!

If using Eric Chen can make Ethan Yin give up, then... Eric, I'm sorry! I have no choice but to use you for a bit!

Cherry clenched her fist, quietly making up her mind.

By evening, Cherry finally finished Yina Yin's craft assignment. Now she wouldn't have to worry about Monday's deadline.

It was already late outside.

But Yina Yin still hadn't come back.

Cherry immediately called her, and as soon as the call connected, she heard a commotion in the background.

Cherry couldn't help but ask, "Miss, what's going on?"

Yina Yin replied irritably, "It's nothing. Zeke got into a scuffle with the other team during basketball. Now both sides are fighting."

Cherry was stunned. "What? Where are you? I'll come right away!"

"No, no, don't come!" Yina Yin quickly said, "We can't let the family find out!"

"Miss! Something like this happens, of course I have to come! I'm your chief assistant!" Cherry said sternly. "Give me the address, I'm coming over! Otherwise, how can I answer to Madam?"

Yina Yin wiped her face in defeat and said, "Fine, my dear sister! I'm at Forest Grove High School's sports field."

Forest Grove High School?

Isn't that one of the schools joining the campus festival next month?

Oh no, why is Miss playing basketball at Forest Grove High School?

What a headache!

"Alright, I'm on my way!" Cherry hung up, grabbed her car keys, and rushed out.

Once she arrived, Cherry quickly opened the car door and strode over.

As she got closer, she saw Lucas Mu crouched on the ground, injured, with Yina Yin standing protectively in front of him.

"Zeke, what happened?" Cherry hurried over and pulled Lucas Mu's hand to check his injury.

"Cherry? Why are you here?! Oh no, did my parents find out?" Lucas Mu was startled to see Cherry.

If his parents found out he was hurt, knowing his dad's personality, he'd definitely come to settle the score!

"So you know how to be scared? Why weren't you scared while fighting?" Cherry scolded. "Let go, I'll treat your wound! How do you expect to hide this? Vice President Muir and Mr. Henry Hirayama aren't blind!"

"Cherry, please, don't tell my parents! I'll just stay at school tonight!" Lucas Mu begged.

Cherry opened the first aid kit and quickly patched up his wound before asking, "So what happened?"

Lucas Mu glanced at Yina Yin, who was still facing off against the other group, then whispered, "Cherry, I'm warning you, don't get mad!"

Cherry nodded. "Go on."

"We came here to play basketball for a reason. A couple of days ago, a boy from this school bullied a girl, and we happened to see it. Yina couldn't stand it, so she taught him a lesson and saved the girl. The boy got mad and challenged us to a game today to settle it. If we lost, we couldn't interfere with him and the girl anymore. But today, when we were about to win, he started cheating! That's how the fight started!"
