The Wealthy Cultivator

Silverfrost Sulfur is an excellent material, but it requires a top-tier Saint Artificer to refine it.

Don’t be fooled by the Nightfall Artifact Pavilion being the number one pavilion in Artifact City, with an entire floor dedicated to selling supreme artifacts. In reality, on the floor where supreme artifacts are sold, there are fewer than ten such items, and each one comes with a sky-high price. What’s more, these ten supreme artifacts are all relics from the past, not crafted by any current Saint Artificer.

Artifact City has the largest number of artifact refiners, and their skills are the strongest. Yet, even so, there isn’t a single Saint Artificer in Artifact City.

In Artifact City, most are Artifact Refiners who can only refine low-grade artifacts. Those who can refine mid-grade artifacts are already rare. As for Grandmaster Artificers who can craft high-grade artifacts, there are only two in the entire city. As for Saint Artificers—not just Artifact City, but even the whole Dao Domain has none.

So even if you manage to buy Silverfrost Sulfur, you still can’t refine a supreme artifact. In other words, if there really were a Saint Artificer in the Dao Domain, how noble would such a being be? How could they possibly refine a mere supreme flying treasure for you?

Those attending the Dao Exchange Gathering here do have distinguished backgrounds, but that’s only relative to this place. In front of a Saint Artificer, these people wouldn’t even be worth mentioning.

But Law Fragments are different. Each Law Fragment represents a unique divine ability. Possessing a Law Fragment guarantees enlightenment of a new divine ability.

When the monk presented the Silverfrost Sulfur, many were delighted. But upon hearing his asking price, no one cared anymore—because it was simply unaffordable.

"I offer a Gold Law Fragment." Just as the monk thought his Silverfrost Sulfur would go unsold, a slightly hoarse voice suddenly made an offer.

As soon as this price was announced, Joe Di immediately felt countless divine senses and gazes fall upon him. He snorted coldly, and a violent killing intent erupted from his body. This murderous aura was so intense it nearly became tangible, even causing ripples in the space around him.

Then Joe Di seemed to remember where he was; his killing intent vanished without a trace as quickly as it had appeared.

Those cultivators who had focused their divine senses on Joe Di quickly withdrew, secretly shocked. Even though Joe Di’s killing intent had only flared for a moment, everyone present could sense his power. That kind of strength was tempered through countless mountains of corpses and seas of blood—otherwise, such a sharp, terrifying killing aura would be impossible.

This was someone not to provoke! Absolutely a bloodthirsty and violent cultivator.

Of course, Joe Di wasn’t so careless as to lose control of his killing intent. He knew he had exposed something valuable, so he deliberately displayed his aura—to warn off anyone thinking of making a move against him.

He cultivated the Dao of Laws. Back during the beast tide in the Immortal Realm, he had slain countless demon beasts. This terrifying killing intent, which appeared and vanished in an instant, was something even most Second Step experts couldn’t possess. After all, not every Second Step expert could comprehend the Law of Killing as clearly as Joe Di.

"Friend, I urgently need your Gold Law Fragment. As long as—" Before the monk could finish, an anxious voice interrupted, clearly another cultivator who also wanted the Gold Law Fragment.

The monk who had offered the Silverfrost Sulfur snorted coldly, "What do you mean? This is the Nightfall Artifact Pavilion Dao Exchange Gathering. Don’t you need to abide by the rules here?"

The cultivator vying for Joe Di’s Law Fragment was a short, thin man. He showed no fear toward the monk and spoke calmly, "The reason the Nightfall Artifact Pavilion’s Dao Exchange Gathering thrives is because transactions are based on mutual consent and competition is allowed. Perhaps this is your first time here, and you don’t know the rules?"

The monk’s expression turned ugly. He didn’t even reply to Joe Di, but simply tossed the Silverfrost Sulfur to him. "The deal is done. Here’s the item; give me the Gold Law Fragment."

How could he not know the rules of the Nightfall Artifact Pavilion? Here, if both parties present items for trade, any third party who’s interested can intervene. As long as what you offer satisfies the other side, you can cut in and take over the deal at any time.

Joe Di ignored the monk and instead turned to the thin cultivator. "I’m looking for top-tier materials to upgrade my Cosmic Flame. Do you have any?"

"I do." The thin man replied, immediately producing a jade vial. "This is a bottle of Primordial Flame Essence, but your Gold Law Fragment alone isn’t enough."

When the bottle of Primordial Flame Essence was revealed, the entire Dao Exchange Gathering hall was stirred into excitement.

Even Qi He stared at the jade vial in the thin man’s hand with reddened eyes. Primordial Flame Essence—pure chaos energy couldn’t compare, let alone the mottled chaos essence he’d offered earlier.

Such treasures usually only appeared at top-tier Dao Exchange Gatherings or elite auctions. He truly hadn’t expected to see something like this at a modest Moon Dao Exchange.

Joe Di was just as excited; this was exactly what he needed. With this, his Cosmic Flame could undergo nirvana—an ideal treasure. Once his Cosmic Flame was reborn, he could use Divine Fire Silkworm Silk, and his flame would at least advance to mid-grade divine flame.

The monk glared at Joe Di and shouted, "I’ve already traded with you. The item is in your hands, so you must give me the Gold Law Fragment."

No matter how fierce Joe Di was, at this moment, the monk had to get Joe Di’s Gold Law Fragment. Once he had it, he could then trade with the thin man for the Primordial Flame Essence.

Joe Di paid him no mind. He knew he wasn’t in the wrong; from start to finish, he hadn’t touched the Silverfrost Sulfur. As long as he didn’t touch it, the transaction wasn’t complete—he’d already reviewed the VIP card’s rules.

The trading rule here was that as long as the items hadn’t been exchanged, anyone could cut in at any time.

"One Gold Law Fragment, plus ten drops of Origin Dew, and three million Divine Essence Pills," Joe Di offered without hesitation.

"Deal. The item is yours." Hearing Joe Di’s offer, the thin cultivator didn’t hesitate at all and tossed the jade vial to Joe Di.

Joe Di immediately threw a ring to the thin cultivator, his heart filled with excitement. He’d added three million Divine Essence Pills simply because he didn’t want to take too much advantage of the other party. Divine Essence Pills were easy to obtain, but Primordial Flame Essence—this bottle might be the only one. Though his offer seemed generous, Joe Di knew it was still less than the value of the thin cultivator’s treasure.

The surrounding cultivators were stunned by Joe Di’s offer. Not only did he have Origin Dew, but he casually offered three million Divine Essence Pills. What was his background?

What surprised everyone even more was that after finishing his transaction with the thin cultivator, Joe Di didn’t wait for the monk to react. He simply tossed another Gold Law Fragment to the monk and said, "I’ve traded with you as well."

"You have more than one Gold Law Fragment?" The monk stared at Joe Di in astonishment.

Joe Di ignored the monk. How many Law Fragments he had was his own business.

A fierce glint flashed in the monk’s eyes, but he quickly snorted and said, "I said two Law Fragments. If you don’t have them..."

Although everyone envied Joe Di’s wealth, they also looked down on the monk. It was obvious he felt shortchanged after seeing Joe Di’s riches and wanted to force Joe Di to add more to the deal.

"So you mean you’re not willing to trade for just one Gold Law Fragment?" Joe Di asked coldly.

The monk snorted, "That’s right. My Silverfrost Sulfur is worth more than a single Gold Law Fragment. If you want it, add ten drops of Origin Dew and some Divine Essence Pills."

Before the monk could finish speaking, he felt his hand lighten—the Gold Law Fragment he’d been holding vanished, and the Silverfrost Sulfur he’d tossed earlier returned to his hand.

The monk sprang to his feet. How could this be? How could something in his grasp be taken away by someone else? He’d already decided that if Joe Di refused, he wouldn’t give him the Gold Law Fragment.

Yet Joe Di had snatched the Gold Law Fragment away as if from thin air—completely beyond the monk’s expectations.

Even the others looked at Joe Di differently now. This monk was no ordinary figure, so what cultivation level did Joe Di possess to take something from him?

Joe Di sneered. Even if the monk had reached the late Dao Origin stage, he could easily set up a Law Shift Array to take the item from his hand. Besides, he’d left a trace of his divine sense on the Gold Law Fragment. He’d originally worried the monk would track him, but now it proved useful.

(That’s all for today’s update. Good night, friends!)
