Defying Orders in Secret

12/2/2025

Seeing that Sam Evans was still acting obedient and timid, he grabbed Jasper Cheng, kicked open the door, and hurled him inside.

Jasper Cheng tumbled across the floor, crashed into the corner of the table, yelped in pain, and scrambled to his feet.

Lana Evans was still bawling at the top of her lungs when, out of nowhere, the door burst open and Jasper Cheng stumbled in!

"Young Master!" Lana Evans saw Jasper Cheng and was even more elated than if she'd seen her own father. She sobbed hoarsely, "Young Master, what happened to you? Did they beat you!? How could they! It must have been Lily Evans who ordered it, right? I knew it—Lily Evans can't stand to see me happy, she wants to beat my man to death and turn me into a widow!"

Sam Evans stormed in, glared at Jasper Cheng, and shot him a meaningful look.

Jasper Cheng glanced nervously at Sam Evans, then at Lana Evans, swallowed hard, and suddenly darted behind Lana Evans, ducking behind the chair. He blurted out at breakneck speed: "Cynthia Green, save me! Your father and your family want to beat me to death! If I die, it'll be your father who killed me. You must avenge me—never forgive your father! And they're threatening my family, saying they'll kill them unless I break up with you. But Cynthia, my feelings for you are deeper than the ocean. I was planning to marry you as soon as I finished my business in the capital, but who knew they'd use my family's lives to tear us apart! Cynthia, your father is forcing me to drive you away against my will, but I'm not afraid of dying. I'd rather die than hide my true feelings. Cynthia, I love you, I've always loved you, I want to marry you! If we can't be husband and wife in this life, I'll marry you in the next! Cynthia, you're the woman I love most, I won't let anyone take you away from me, even if I die!"

"Young Master!" Lana Evans trembled all over from the sudden confession, tears streaming down her cheeks.

Ever since she gave herself to Jasper Cheng for the first time, Lana Evans had dreamed of hearing him say he loved her and wanted to marry her.

Now, finally hearing it with her own ears, Lana Evans felt this was the happiest moment of her life. She laughed and cried, gazing at Jasper Cheng through a blur of tears.

On the side, Sam Evans was so furious that his veins bulged. He hadn't expected that this cowardly Jasper Cheng would dare to defy him—agreeing on the surface, only to turn traitor in front of Lana Evans!

Sam Evans stomped over, grabbed Jasper Cheng by the collar, and snarled,

“You spineless rat! You promised me you’d break up with Lana Evans, but now you’re declaring your love for her right in front of me? Are you trying to humiliate me?”

Jasper Cheng shrank back, but then, seeing Lana Evans crying her heart out, he suddenly straightened his back and replied, “Uncle Sam, I can’t break up with Lana Evans. I love her—I’d rather die than give her up!”

Sam Evans’s face turned purple with rage, his grip tightening on Jasper Cheng’s collar as he roared, “Fine! You want to die for love? I’ll grant your wish!”

Lana Evans screamed, “Father, don’t! If you kill Jasper Cheng, I’ll die with him!”

Sam Evans froze, his rage momentarily subdued by Lana Evans’s desperate cry. He glared at Jasper Cheng, then at Lana Evans, his chest heaving.

David Wang stepped forward, putting himself between Sam Evans and Jasper Cheng. “Sam, calm down. We’re family. Let’s talk this out.”
