Golden Howler

1/11/2026

Although everyone already knew how powerful Ian Song was, seeing him decapitate three second-tier sea demonic beasts with a single sword strike still left them utterly shocked.

After killing the three sea monsters, Ian swung his sword again and again.

"Splat! Splat! Splat! Splat!"

Blood sprayed everywhere as nine more heads flew up—another nine second-tier sea demonic beasts were beheaded by him.

"Roar! Roar! Roar!"

This scene seemed to enrage the third-tier sea demonic beast at the edge of the beach. It roared furiously, sending more than thirty second-tier beasts charging onto the sand.

Ian blurred into motion, sword in hand, and charged into the midst of the sea monster horde.

His Falling Star Sword sliced through them like chopping vegetables; with every swing, a head flew off. In less than ten breaths, all thirty-plus second-tier beasts had been decapitated.

"Roar!"

A thunderous roar erupted from the mouth of the third-tier beast. In the next moment, it rose up out of the water, more than ten meters tall, its blood-red eyes—each as big as a brass bell—locked onto Ian, filled with murderous intent.

A third-tier beast’s strength rivaled a Grandmaster, but since they lacked domains, Ian had no fear facing one.

"All of you, fall back into the rocky field!" Ian called out sharply.

Seeing the third-tier sea monster enraged, the others were alarmed. Knowing they couldn’t help Ian here, they all retreated into the rocky field as ordered.

Originally, Ian thought the third-tier beast would charge onto the beach to fight him, but after its roar, it didn’t rush forward. Instead, it kept commanding its second-tier beasts to attack, this time sending over a hundred and twenty.

"Kill!"

Ian’s left hand produced another sword.

Wielding twin swords, he sliced the second-tier sea monster that rushed at him in half.

These second-tier sea monsters had strong defenses, but Ian’s two swords were anything but ordinary—one was the Falling Star Sword from his cheap old man, the other a seventh-grade spirit sword gifted by the Supreme Elder.

Both swords were razor-sharp, easily slicing through the defenses of these second-tier beasts.

"Splat! Splat! Splat! Splat!"

The same scene played out again: blood spurted everywhere, heads flew up, and in less than a minute, over a hundred second-tier beasts were slaughtered on the beach.

"Junior Brother Huang is savage!"

Watching Ian massacre the sea monsters, everyone’s hearts trembled with shock.

"Roar!"

The third-tier sea demonic beast roared again, but Ian raised his sword and pointed it at the beast, his eyes full of provocation.

With intelligence nearly equal to humans, the third-tier beast understood Ian’s provocation. It let out a series of furious roars, its tail violently slapping the water—but it still didn’t dare set foot on the beach.

This struck Ian as very strange, and a shadow crept into his heart. What on earth was on this island that could make seventy or eighty third-tier sea monsters too afraid to cross the line?

Another two hundred-plus second-tier sea monsters charged onto the beach.

This time, Ian directly merged with the world around him, borrowing the power of heaven and earth to unleash a ruthless strike on the two hundred-plus sea monsters.

With just one move, over a hundred and seventy of the second-tier sea monsters were killed, and the remaining dozens were all badly wounded, fleeing back to the sea.

Ian had no intention of letting them escape. With twin swords flashing, he finished them off as well.

This time, the other dozens of third-tier beasts couldn’t stand it any longer. They all roared together, and over a thousand second-tier sea monsters swarmed toward Ian.

"Damn it!"

Seeing the situation, Ian turned and ran. There were just too many of them—without exposing his true cultivation, he couldn’t win.

Soon, Ian escaped into the rocky field, and the thousand-plus sea monsters chasing him all stopped outside its boundary.

"Roar!"

Just then, a childish yet majestic voice echoed from deep within the island.

The moment they heard this voice, the seventy or eighty third-tier sea monsters all showed terror in their eyes and tried to flee.

A golden shadow flickered.

A creature, its fur golden and lion-like, appeared atop the head of a third-tier sea monster.

With a soft squelch, its claw easily pierced the third-tier sea monster’s skull, scooped out a lump of tender white brain matter, and elegantly brought it to its mouth...

The other third-tier sea monsters were stunned by the sight, frozen in place and trembling—they didn’t even dare to run.

As for the thousand-plus second-tier sea monsters on the beach, they were even worse off—all sprawled flat, motionless. The air filled with the stink of urine and feces; they’d been so terrified they lost control of their bowels.

Seeing this, Rose Changsun and the others were scared out of their wits too. Remembering how that lion-like creature had so easily pierced the third-tier beast’s skull, they couldn’t help but shudder.

How tough was the skin of a third-tier sea monster?

Even ordinary spirit weapons struggled to break it, yet this creature’s claws sliced through with ease—just imagine how sharp they were...

After finishing the brain, the creature set its sights on another third-tier sea monster.

The golden shadow flashed again—it landed atop another third-tier beast, reached out its claw, pierced the skull, scooped out another lump of brain matter, and ate it with eerie elegance.

"Could it be? Is this lion-like creature what all these sea monsters are so afraid of?" Ian wondered, studying it closely.

Finally, after devouring the brains of three third-tier beasts, the lion-like creature landed on the rocky field, curiously sizing up Ian and the others.

At once, everyone’s hair stood on end.

This creature was too fast, its claws too sharp—if it wanted to kill them, they wouldn’t even have a chance to dodge.

Meanwhile, as soon as the creature left, the sea monsters frantically rushed back into the water, as if being a step too slow would mean getting eaten.

Meeting the creature’s gaze, Ian looked back without fear. Suddenly, a passage of text flashed through his mind: Golden Howler, an ancient divine beast, fond of eating human brains, lion-like in appearance, with a head resembling a human.

Upon closer inspection, Ian realized the creature perfectly matched the description of the Golden Howler.

"Could this really be the legendary divine beast, the Golden Howler?"

"Senior Brother Huang, it’s not going to eat us, is it?" Rose Changsun asked, trembling.

"I don’t know. But it’s eaten the brains of three sea monsters—it should be full by now," Ian replied uncertainly.

Suddenly, Ian’s vision blurred—the Golden Howler appeared above his head, its sharp claws brushing his scalp.

Just as its claws were about to pierce his skull, a suspended space abruptly appeared.

He’d been prepared for this—seeing the Golden Howler move, he instantly used his spatial stasis ability.

"That was close!"

Ian took a step back—he’d almost been ambushed by the beast. He raised a finger and pressed it to the Golden Howler’s brow, channeling ten puppet spells in succession.

Since it was the Golden Howler, an ancient divine beast, Ian dared not be careless—he unleashed all ten puppet spells at once.

Three seconds later, the spatial stasis faded. The Golden Howler fell straight from midair, collapsing to the ground in obvious pain—clearly, the ten puppet spells were working, enslaving its soul.

Ian gripped his seventh-grade spirit sword, its tip aimed at the Golden Howler’s brow. If the puppet spell failed, he’d strike immediately to kill the beast.
