Cici was never good at reading people. In fact, her emotional intelligence was honestly pretty low.
Especially when it came to romance—her past was basically a blank slate.
After her memory reset, it was even more of a total blank.
But even someone as clueless as her could see through the emotions of these four people right now.
In other words, none of them were trying to hide how they felt.
And the person who was the target of all this love and hate was standing right beside her.
Instinctively, Cici glanced at Howard Yin's face.
Even though the man was sixty, he still couldn't hide his handsome features.
No wonder Charles Yin turned out so striking—he had a father who was handsome even in his sixties, and a mother who, despite being consumed by hatred and confined to a wheelchair, still radiated pride and elegance. With genes like that, it was almost impossible not to be attractive!
Ethan Yin's mother, May Yan, to be honest, was nowhere near as beautiful as Vivian Jiang.
But May Yan was a master at reading people, while Vivian Jiang was proud and stubborn, refusing to ever please her husband.
Plus, May Yan had known Howard Yin since they were young. She was gentle, considerate, and always caring, while the beautiful wife at home was cold and obsessed with her career. So it wasn’t surprising that Howard would turn to May Yan for comfort.
Besides, Howard Yin was never the loyal type.
On the contrary, he was rather cold-hearted.
Otherwise, why would he have let May Yan act so arrogant in front of Vivian Jiang back then?
If he hadn’t just stood by and watched the battles between Vivian Jiang and May Yan, would Vivian have ended up like this?
So, Vivian Jiang truly hated this man.
If Howard Yin didn’t care about Vivian anymore, he could’ve just divorced her.
Vivian Jiang, as the heiress of the Jiang family, was born proud and dignified—she would never cling to a man who didn’t love her.
But Howard Yin didn’t do that. He held on to Vivian while having a son with May Yan on the side.
Ethan Yin was only a few years younger than Charles Yin. In other words, not long after Vivian Jiang gave birth to Charles, Howard Yin had May Yan give birth to Ethan.
So, did Howard love May Yan more than Vivian Jiang?
Not really.
If that were true, he wouldn’t have hidden his identity for nearly ten years, cut off contact with everyone, and disappeared for days each month just to erase any trace of himself.
This selfish man only ever loved himself.
Even Chen Meier, the woman who rescued him from the wilderness, was no exception.
All the women in his life were just tools to him.
Vivian Jiang was the first to react. Over nine years ago, she orchestrated a car accident meant to take both their lives.
She knew that simply framing him wouldn’t be enough to kill Howard Yin.
So she risked her own life to drag the man who ruined her love into hell with her.
"Come to hell with me!"
But fate had other plans—who would’ve thought Charles Yin ended up in the car that day too?
That accident led to the tragic outcome they all faced now.
If it weren’t for her son, Vivian Jiang probably wouldn’t have had the will to keep living.
Her fierce spirit and unyielding nature were the reason she spent six years in Santa Maria Recovery Center in South America, seeing a therapist.
She paid a terrible price, so when her husband reappeared after ten years, all she felt was overwhelming hatred.
Howard Yin waited until the room was cleared before finally looking up.
He glanced at the four people in front of him and spoke softly: "At last, we meet again."
Grandma Evelyn Yin trembled, wanting to rush forward and reclaim her son. Vivian Jiang stared at her mother-in-law, and Grandma Evelyn hesitated before giving up the idea.
Deep down, she blamed her son too.
Ten years of life and death, longing and hatred tangled together for her son.
If not for him, how would the Yin family have suffered such disaster, nearly letting others take advantage?
If not for him, why would an old lady like her have to take charge again, fight to save the family, and force her grandson—who wasn’t ready—to grow up overnight and become CEO?
But no matter how much she hated him, he was still her son.
That’s why Grandma Evelyn’s gaze was the most complicated of all.
"Howard..." Grandma Evelyn called out, voice trembling.
"Mother." Howard Yin finally admitted his identity. "I’m sorry."
"Father, don’t you think you owe us an explanation for all these years?" Charles Yin stepped forward, but instead of facing Howard, he stood beside Cici and grabbed her hand.
Cici hadn’t expected Charles to grab her hand in front of everyone. Instinctively, she tried to pull away.
But Charles’s grip was strong—no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t break free.
Howard Yin quickly glanced at his son's gesture, a cold smile on his lips. He said flatly, "What is there to say? Nothing to explain. What you’ve seen is exactly what happened."
Chen Meier, who’d been stunned into silence, finally snapped out of it.
So this was his family, all showing up together.
Then what was she?
What did the past ten years of companionship mean?
She’d given the last ten years of her life to this man.
And just moments ago, he’d cut ties with her—now his wife and two sons had appeared.
So what was she to this man?
Just a plaything? Just a tool to hide his identity?

When Cici looked at Chen Meier, her eyes were full of sympathy and pity.
Charles Yin followed Cici’s gaze, squeezing her hand tighter as if silently comforting her.
"We really do deserve an explanation." Vivian Jiang finally spoke, her voice icy and cold as if from the depths of hell. "Even if it’s for nothing else, you owe your two sons an explanation."
"The Yin family is already in your hands. Whether I explain or not, does it really matter?" Howard Yin glanced mockingly at Vivian. "Vivian, I’m never divorcing you. I’m selfish—even in death, I’ll keep you tied to the Yin family. Because the Yin family needs the Jiang family's support. It always has, and it always will!"
Vivian Jiang gripped the sides of her wheelchair so hard her veins popped out—her patience was almost gone.
Howard Yin turned to look at Charles—his only pride in life.
"Charles, you’ve done well these past years." Howard said softly, "You’ve achieved things with Yin Enterprises that I never managed in decades. I’m proud of you."
Charles didn’t reply, but his eyes narrowed slightly.
Seeing the way father and son looked at each other, Cici felt a strange chill in her heart.
What had happened between them?
"Father, if you can’t give us an explanation today, no one here is leaving easily." Charles said coolly. "What could possibly make you give up the Yin family, disappear for ten years, and ignore us all?"
Everyone wanted to know the answer to that question.
Being head of the Yin family meant so much.
Endless wealth, status, power—the privilege to do whatever you wanted.
And so on, and so on.
So what could possibly be more important than all that?
What could make Howard Yin willingly give up so much, hide his identity, and pretend to have amnesia here?
Howard looked at Charles and couldn’t help but give a bitter smile. "You really have grown up. You’re not so easy to fool anymore. Looks like if I don’t explain myself today, none of you will let this go. Fine, since you all want to know, I’ll tell you. Let’s talk inside—standing here like this is ridiculous! Chen Meier, didn’t you want an explanation too? I’ll give you one today!"
With that, Howard led everyone into the house.
Chen Meier followed him in like a zombie.
Everything that happened today was just too overwhelming for her.
And these well-dressed, impossibly good-looking people had completely fried her brain—she couldn’t process any of it.
Cici hadn’t wanted to get involved, but Charles kept holding her hand, so she had no choice but to follow them in.
Honestly, Cici really wanted to shake off Charles’s hand.
But she knew now wasn’t the time to cause trouble.
In other words, she was curious too—what kind of reason could Howard Yin possibly have to give up so much and hide away with a village woman?
Chen Meier entered the house, snapped out of her daze, and started to get water for everyone.
But she didn’t need to do anything—Assistant A had already told the other helpers to take care of everything.
Chen Meier stared blankly as Assistant A managed the house like the owner, taking care of the guests.
Howard Yin only glanced at Chen Meier before turning to the others and saying calmly, "Alright, ask away. Whatever questions you have, I’ll only answer them once."
"All these years, why didn’t you come back?" Grandma Evelyn asked first.
Howard Yin heard the question and looked at Grandma Evelyn with a mocking smile, laughing freely. "Aren’t you the one who knows best?"
Grandma Evelyn was about to get angry, but then something seemed to dawn on her. She glanced quickly at Chen Meier, her whole body shaking as she asked Howard, "Howard, have you always blamed me? Do you hate me for breaking you two up?"
