Memory of the Wraiths

Suddenly, the Emperor God beamed and grasped Wraithshade's hand.

"Thank you."

The vision ended completely here. I glanced at Wraithshade beside me; he was smiling.

"Now this being is basically complete. He possesses the hardness of a zombie, and the unpredictable, floating nature of the Wraiths. Even if damaged, his flesh can quickly regenerate. It's as if spear and shield have perfectly fused together."

"What exactly are you trying to do by doing this?"

I asked sharply, as Wraithshade's figure began to fade away.

"Remember this, Zhang Qingyuan: spear and shield can theoretically coexist, but in reality, it's impossible. The seed I've planted needs you to take over. Without you, they can't succeed. After all, coexistence isn't something everyone can achieve."

"What's wrong, Zhang Qingyuan?"

I snapped back to my senses and glanced at the Emperor God. In that instant, I finally understood their ultimate purpose.

"This is nothing much. If you truly wish to construct it, you'll need a few things. I carry hundreds of thousands of Wraiths with me—their existence is indispensable. When you place that being into a coffin forged from Corpse Qi Stone, put these Wraiths inside and let them feed him little by little. Over time, not only will he be able to assimilate with corpse energy, but also soak in ghost energy."

As Wraithshade spoke, the Wraiths began to gather in groups, each one slipping into his body. He yawned and looked around.

"The strongest creature on this island still hasn't been found. It seems there's no way to communicate with it. Everything here must be man-made. This world is truly strange."

Wraithshade smiled, and behind him, with a gentle leap, a swirl of black mist formed beneath his feet. I stared in astonishment as an ancient armored Wraith appeared—its body shrouded in darkness, crimson eyes glowing, lower half billowing like fog. Wraithshade perched atop its shoulder and floated upward.

"Head to the central tower."

At that moment, I stared in shock. On this island stood a tower at least a hundred meters tall. Judging by the strength of the beasts here, this should be the ninth island.

Gradually, Wraithshade arrived at the base of the tower, which looked exactly like the pale blue tower I had seen before.

"Disperse."

After landing, Wraithshade raised two fingers and called out. Instantly, the Wraith that had carried him dissolved into black smoke and vanished.

"Anyone here?"

Staring at the massive door wrapped in black vines, Wraithshade asked the question. Then he chuckled, reached out, and pushed. With a creak, the door opened.
