Strange Creature

Terrence Skyspirit addressed the crowd, saying, "Wait here. I'll go talk to them."

Everyone treated Terrence Skyspirit as their strongest leader, pinning all their hopes on him at this moment.

Just as Terrence finished speaking, a figure appeared from within the mountain.

The newcomer glanced around, saw so many Spirit-Wandering experts, and stared intently: "What are you all doing here?"

"I am Terrence Skyspirit. I wish to meet Senior Huang," Terrence said respectfully.

The other paused upon hearing Terrence's name, then said, "Follow me. The rest of you wait here. If anything happens, don't say I didn't warn you."

These were all Spirit-Wandering experts; being warned like this made them feel awkward. If not for their fear of the Huang Clan's Spirit-Wandering powerhouse, they would have stormed up the mountain and fought already.

Seeing everyone's gloomy faces, Terrence Skyspirit helplessly turned to the guide and said, "Let's go."

"Is he really going?" Evan Yang muttered as he watched Terrence head up the mountain.

Terrence Skyspirit and the guide soon disappeared from Evan Yang's sight.

If he went closer, he might see where Terrence went, but doing so risked being spotted by the others. Evan Yang hesitated, wanting to check things out but fearing unnecessary trouble—after all, his cultivation was only early Spirit-Wandering, and facing so many mid- or late-stage experts would be overwhelming.

Helpless, Evan Yang waited nearby, wanting to see what would happen next.

Terrence Skyspirit followed along, feeling the densest spiritual energy here and growing excited. But to enter, he had to apply with the group and get approval from those already cultivating inside.

He wasn't afraid of the others, only the Huang Clan member. Back then, the Huang Clan and Blue Clan fought for supremacy—just barely losing out and settling for second place on the continent.

"Senior Huang is inside. Go in yourself," the guide explained, pointing to a cave entrance.

Terrence Skyspirit held his breath and entered. Inside the cave was another space, smaller but just as saturated with spiritual energy as outside.

He almost felt an illusion—he really wanted to cultivate here. But someone was already present.

"Senior Huang." Terrence Skyspirit hurriedly cupped his hands in greeting.

"It's you?" The Huang Clan man, hailed as the number one in the Eastern Continent, actually recognized Terrence Skyspirit.

"Yes, it's me. After all these years, you still remember." Terrence Skyspirit smiled, but inside he sighed, "Back then, we cultivated together. Now you've reached peak Spirit-Wandering."

"Of course I remember. But what brings you here today?" he asked curiously.

"Here's the situation," Terrence Skyspirit said, using their acquaintance to start negotiating.

When Terrence mentioned that over twenty people wanted to enter the mountain—and that refusing might cause trouble for the Huang Clan—the man snorted coldly, "Who dares mess with my Huang Clan!"

A powerful aura erupted; Terrence Skyspirit managed to endure it, though it was tough, and said gloomily, "Senior Huang, this mountain is so large—let them in. Everyone's here to cultivate, after all."

"Isn't this really your idea?" The man withdrew his aura and stared directly at Terrence Skyspirit.

Terrence Skyspirit didn't dare admit it was his idea. He quickly forced a smile, "You're joking. It's everyone's wish, though I do hope to cultivate here myself. This mountain has the densest spiritual energy right now—cultivating here is twice as effective."

"You think I control this mountain? If they're capable, let them climb it themselves," the man sneered.

"But... the outsiders are waiting for your decision," Terrence Skyspirit said awkwardly.

"My decision? You're overthinking it. I'm here, but I don't care about this mountain. Only you people do," he replied.

"You don't care?" Terrence Skyspirit was shocked, wondering if he hadn't come for the spiritual energy here.

Seeing Terrence Skyspirit's expression, the man laughed again. "If you can get the outsiders' approval, you can come up. But if you try to force your way, I'll definitely intervene."

"That's basically a refusal," Terrence Skyspirit cursed inwardly. He was about to keep negotiating, but suddenly the ground and mountain shook violently.

"It's happening again!" The man saw the situation, flashed away, leaving Terrence Skyspirit confused.

The people at the foot of the mountain had been hoping for a good outcome, but suddenly the mountain shook like a ship hit by massive waves.

"What's going on?" The twenty-some Spirit-Wandering experts were all shocked.

Evan Yang, not far away, was also startled. He looked carefully at the mountain.

Suddenly, many figures appeared on the mountain—just as many as those below.

"Spirit-Wandering experts really are everywhere now," Evan Yang thought. He never expected to see so many in the Death Crystal Field. Back on the continent, seeing a Spirit-Wandering expert was like seeing an immortal. Now, Evan was slowly adapting, his mental resilience growing stronger.

He didn't feel proud or lucky about his own Spirit-Wandering cultivation at all.

As Evan Yang was sighing, a voice sounded, but no figure appeared.

"If you want to climb this mountain, come up and help out." The alluring voice drew all twenty-some people at the foot of the mountain upward.

The voice belonged to none other than the Eastern Continent's top expert—Evan Yang recognized it instantly.

The people below exchanged glances. One couldn't resist and rushed up, then another, until they all went forward.

Soon the people at the foot of the mountain disappeared. Only then did Evan Yang emerge, slowly approaching, wanting to see what was happening on the mountain and what was going on with it.

As he got closer and saw the mountain shaking, Evan Yang almost hallucinated—was the mountain actually moving?

"Better go up and take a look." Unable to resist, Evan Yang slowly moved up the mountain, stopping where he could see people.

He saw forty or fifty Spirit-Wandering experts surrounding and attacking a massive creature.

"What is that?" Evan Yang was stunned—the creature was huge, entirely green, its surface covered in crystal dust. He couldn't tell if its spiritual armor was connected to the crystals.

The Huang Clan expert attacked the creature's head, while the others assisted from the sides.

Dozens of Spirit-Wandering experts fighting a single creature—what a spectacle. Evan Yang was even more shocked when the creature stomped its foot and shook the entire mountain. How powerful was it?

Not only that, when the creature opened its mouth and spewed green gas, anyone touched by it had their skin instantly stiffen and turn to crystal.

The person screamed in agony, as if the affected area was extremely painful.

Seeing this, the Huang Clan expert waved his hand, sending out a blast of energy that sliced off the contaminated hand.

The sudden action shocked everyone—they didn't understand what the Huang Clan expert meant.

The Huang Clan expert glanced at the crowd and said, "If you get hit by the gas, cut it off immediately. If it spreads to your whole body, you're in real trouble." Then he ignored them and resumed fighting the creature, while the others blocked its escape routes.

"Beast! I won't fail to subdue you today!" the Huang Clan expert snorted coldly, unleashing a powerful aura.

Sensing that his opponent was no ordinary person, the creature opened its mouth and roared angrily, then whipped its tail, forcing the surrounding people to retreat for fear of being hit.

Then the creature found an opening and charged out at high speed.

"Trying to escape? No way! Everyone, block it! If we subdue it today, everyone can cultivate here." The Huang Clan expert couldn't handle the creature alone, so he used the others to help, hoping to seize the opportunity.

Hearing this, everyone went all out, unleashing their ultimate techniques.

Treasure weapons and powerful auras filled the mountain. The creature was covered in wounds, but none were fatal.

But this only enraged it, and it let out a strange cry.

"That sound...?" Evan Yang thought it was an illusion, but he sensed sorrow, anger, and regret in its call.

"Illusion—it must be an illusion." Evan Yang looked at the creature, listened to its cry, and felt a surge of pity and an urge to save it.

As Evan Yang was lost in thought, the creature made a desperate effort, flinging the crowd away and charging down the mountain.

It moved so fast that only the Huang Clan expert could keep up; the others couldn't catch it.

"Keep up!" the Huang Clan expert shouted to those behind, then continued chasing the creature.

Evan Yang also followed from the side, quickly overtaking the others.

The Huang Clan expert didn't notice Evan Yang. At that moment, Evan Yang ran alongside, scanning everything with five hundred strands of divine sense for safety.

About an hour later, the creature—wounded and battered by the Huang Clan's attacks—had injuries all over its back, blood flowing out.

Eventually, the Huang Clan expert blocked its path.

"Hmph, beast, can't hold out anymore, can you?" The Huang Clan expert sneered as he caught up.

The creature roared angrily at the Huang Clan member.

"Roaring won't help. Just become my pet—wouldn't that be better?" The Huang Clan expert tried to persuade it to surrender.

The creature seemed proud, charging at him recklessly despite its life being at risk.

The Huang Clan expert snorted coldly, "Overestimating yourself!" He unleashed another attack.

Man and beast fought fiercely.

The others couldn't keep up; only Evan Yang watched from the side, closely observing the battle.

"If this keeps up, it'll die," Evan Yang suddenly felt worried for the creature's safety.

Boom—after fighting for a while, the creature's strength faded, and the Huang Clan expert finally brought it down.

Panting, the Huang Clan expert pointed his sword at the creature, "Submit, and I'll spare your life."

"Roar!" The creature refused to bow its head—even as its body touched the ground, blood pooling beneath it, it let out a defiant roar.

"Are you really going to force me?" The Huang Clan expert gave a final ultimatum, sword pointed at the creature.

Evan Yang grew anxious—if this kept up, the creature would die.
