The Grand Elder shot Evan Chu a furious glare and barked, "You've got guts, kid! Daring to stir up trouble in the City Lord's Mansion—today, you're not leaving alive! Men, wipe this punk out!"
At the Grand Elder’s command, all the guards surrounding Evan Chu drew their weapons and charged. These guys were all around Seventh or Eighth Layer Saint Martial Realm—pretty strong for normal folks—but Evan didn’t even spare them a glance.
Every attack landed squarely on Evan Chu—like slamming swords into solid steel. Not a single strike could break his defense. Instead, the only thing the attackers felt was their wrists nearly snapping from the rebound; every one of them was blasted back by his body’s countershock.
Such a freakish scene left everyone stunned. How could a kid’s defense be this monstrous? No one had ever seen anything like it. Just what kind of realm had this youth reached?
Evan Chu just laughed. "A bunch of ants think they can touch me? Today, your Young Master’s going to tear up the City Lord’s Mansion. I’ll show you—some people are way out of your league."
With a thought, Evan unleashed Heart-Sword. In a blink, several men dropped to the ground—a gaping bloody hole in each chest, fresh blood pouring out and staining the floor bright red.
That brutal attack sent a wave of fear through the crowd. One by one, they started backing away, not daring to go at Evan Chu again. In a flash, Evan appeared right in front of the Grand Elder—but instead of killing him on the spot, he just grinned and said:
"Don’t blame me for being ruthless—blame yourselves for spoiling that brat. I hate arrogant wastrel young masters the most. If you’d kept him in line, maybe your mansion wouldn’t be facing this disaster. So, what’s it gonna be? You want me to kill you first, then him, or just hand him straight over?"
"You want to kill the young master? Dream on! You’ll have to get through me first!" the Grand Elder snapped.
The Grand Elder was a Sixth-Layer Venerable Martial Realm expert—once a top-tier powerhouse. But in front of Evan Chu, he was nothing but an ant.
With a thought, Evan Chu unleashed the Star-Siphon Method—sucking the Grand Elder straight over. For a Sixth-Layer Venerable Martial Realm expert, he didn’t even put up a fight; Evan dragged him right to his side.
Stellar Power inside the Grand Elder’s body drained away at lightning speed, his face turning ghostly pale. Just then, Young Lord Hades didn’t run—instead, he mustered his courage and slashed his sword at Evan Chu, desperate to save the Grand Elder from Evan’s grip.
You had to admit, the kid wasn’t all bad deep down. Maybe it was just a lifetime of zero discipline that turned him into an arrogant punk.
The sword strike hit Evan Chu, but was instantly blasted back by his body’s counterforce. Young Lord Hades couldn’t help but cough up blood—but this blood was different from anyone else’s, tinged with a faint golden hue.
Evan Chu’s heart skipped a beat. Only Dragon Clan members bled pale gold like that. But there were no dragons in the Netherworld—so who exactly was this kid?
Evan flung the Grand Elder dozens of meters away, then yanked Young Lord Hades over with a single pull. Studying the boy’s face, Evan realized they looked a little alike—his heart suddenly thrown into chaos.
This was Netherkin territory. Could this kid be Faye Knox’s son? Wasn’t Faye the City Lord of Moonwell City? If that was true, then Young Lord Hades might actually be his own son! Evan had to get to the bottom of this—otherwise, he’d regret it for life.
Evan Chu instantly killed any thought of slaying Young Lord Hades. Just as he was about to ask, the Grand Elder struggled up from the ground and shouted, "You can’t kill him! You’ll regret it! He’s no ordinary kid—he’s the son of Evan Chu, the strongest human who ever came to the Netherworld!"
The words hit Evan Chu like a thunderbolt, leaving him frozen in place. No way—this punk really was his son? It was unbelievable. He’d nearly killed his own kid. If he hadn’t noticed the golden blood, he might’ve gone through with it.
Grabbing Young Lord Hades by the hand, Evan Chu was suddenly at a loss. Almost at the same moment, two figures shot over—one of them shouting in a familiar yet distant voice, "Let go of my Cheng’er!"
As the words faded, a beautiful young woman appeared before Evan Chu. He couldn’t help but take a step back—this was none other than Faye Knox, the first woman he’d met in the Netherworld.
Faye Knox saw Evan Chu, and tears instantly welled up on her flawless face, dropping to the ground like pearls. Her voice trembled as she choked out, "You can’t kill him—he’s your son! How could you show up and do something like this?"
Unable to hold back, Faye rushed over. Evan let go of Young Lord Hades, and Faye threw herself into Evan’s arms, pounding his chest with heavy blows—thunderous and wild, but not hurting him at all.
"Faye, I didn’t know! Is he really our son? How did he turn into such a spoiled punk? You know better than anyone how much I hate arrogant young masters," Evan Chu said helplessly.
Young Lord Hades lay on the ground, staring at Evan Chu in utter shock. So this terrifying youth was actually his legendary dad? It was like a dream—he could barely process it.
But when he saw his mom clinging to Evan’s chest, there was no doubt left. Plus, Evan’s insane power sealed the deal.
"You’re unbelievable! First thing you do is try to kill your own son. Have you ever cared about him all these years? Do you even know what he’s been through? If he turned out like this, you’re at least half to blame!" Faye Knox snapped.
Evan Chu gently pushed Faye Knox aside, walked up to Young Lord Hades, and asked, "What’s your name?"
Now that he knew Evan Chu was his father, Young Lord Hades realized he wasn’t about to get killed. He stammered, "My name’s Chase Chu. Are you really my dad?"
Evan Chu couldn’t help but stagger back a few steps, his face twisting—he’d almost done something stupid. Then he stepped up to Chase Chu, placed his palm on the boy’s back, and sent a surge of wood-element energy into him.
Chase Chu hadn’t been badly hurt, but with Evan’s powerful wood-element energy pouring in, he felt much better and his complexion returned to normal.
"Evan, whatever you have to say, save it for home. I expect you to give Chase a proper explanation. What kind of father tries to kill his own son the first time they meet? He’s your flesh and blood, not some adopted kid!" Faye Knox said angrily.
"Alright, alright, alright! I get it. Chase, let’s go—your dad owes you a real explanation!" Evan Chu said, unable to hide his regret…
