Except for Xiao Di, nobody in No One Under Heaven really knew what exactly went down between their boss and the two Fox Sisters. Maybe Jill Young wanted to leave the sisters a shred of feminine dignity and shame? Pierce thought that was totally unnecessary—those two, as the bosses of Turbulent Den, had seen it all. Of course, that was just Pierce’s own guess. More likely, Jill Young just wanted to enjoy herself without anyone interrupting.
If Steelbull City ever had a ranking for natural beauties over twenty-four with no plastic surgery, the top four would probably all be in this little room. Pierce would sneak back sometimes to eavesdrop, but every time he pressed his ear to the door, he’d hear Jill Young inside say, "Pierce, you want me to break your legs, huh?"
"How does she always catch me?" That was one of Pierce’s biggest mysteries.
Anyway, Jill Young spent quite a while inside, and sometimes some suggestive noises drifted out through all the barriers. Then the door opened, and in front of everyone, the four of them filed out. Nothing seemed too out of the ordinary, except the Fox Sisters were trailing behind Jill Young, heads down, looking like they didn’t even dare breathe.
"Go, contact the Syndicate." Jill Young strode forward without even glancing sideways. "You two know what you’re supposed to do, right?"
"Got it, got it!" The twins nodded frantically, sticking close behind Jill Young like pet dogs following their owner.
Pierce sidled up to Xiao Di and whispered, "Hey, what happened in there?" Xiao Di, who’d been lost in thought, snapped back to reality and gave Pierce a complicated look. "You really want to know?" Pierce slapped his thigh, "Of course!" Xiao Di shrugged, "Then you’ll have to read the extras." (laughs)
To avoid getting this book banned, let’s get back to business. The Fox Sisters—Kiki the elder, Papa the younger—are identical twins, so they look pretty much the same. As the bosses of Turbulent Den, they’re the Syndicate’s right-hand women. Without them, the Syndicate wouldn’t be where it is today. And they’re no fools—sometimes even coming up with clever plans—so the Syndicate values them a lot.
"Boss," Kiki’s soft, sweet voice came through the phone to the Syndicate leader’s ear. "We’ve had a major breakthrough—we caught Xiao Di from No One Under Heaven!"
"Xiao Di?" The Syndicate leader sounded surprised. "You actually caught her?"
"Honestly, we didn’t expect it either—it was a total surprise!" Kiki’s voice was bubbling with excitement. "As long as we’ve got this person under control, Boss, the day you break No One Under Heaven’s hold on Queen’s District isn’t far off!"
"Alright, bring Xiao Di over right away," the Syndicate leader’s voice was sharp and impatient.
Kiki paused for about five seconds, then glanced at Jill Young sitting next to her. Jill Young heard the conversation but didn’t react, leaving Kiki to handle it herself. After five seconds, Kiki replied firmly, "No, Boss, we can’t send her over just yet."
"Why not?"
"Because this operation went a little too smoothly. I’m worried it’s a trap set by No One Under Heaven. For now, we’ll keep Xiao Di under observation. If it is a trap, we’ll lure their people in. If not, we can interrogate her ourselves and report back to you, so you don’t get caught in the crossfire."
Jill Young raised an eyebrow—this Kiki was pretty crafty. Playing it safe, acting all concerned for the Syndicate’s safety, it actually made the Syndicate trust them even more. No way the Syndicate could’ve guessed No One Under Heaven had already snatched up the Fox Sisters in no time, or that Jill Young had already started her plan.
Sure enough, the Syndicate leader burst out laughing over the phone, "Exactly, you always think of everything! You really are my little darling. This time, you’re going to be a hero!"
"If I’m such a hero," Kiki giggled, "when are you going to give me a proper ‘reward’?" Her voice was extra sweet, especially when she said ‘reward’—any guy would know exactly what kind of reward she meant.
That kind of reward could only be given in person. And whenever the Syndicate handed out ‘rewards,’ it was a golden opportunity for No One Under Heaven.
But the Syndicate leader could only sigh regretfully, "I’ve got a big business deal to handle these next two days. Give it a few days, alright? You two keep interrogating her, and when you’ve got the info, bring it all to me and I’ll make sure you get a proper reward. That’s it for now, wait for my call—I’ll tell you where to meet me." With that, the call ended. In the end, the Syndicate chose business over pleasure.
The two Fox Sisters looked at Jill Young like contestants waiting for their scores on a talent show. Jill Young slowly stood up and asked, "Has the Syndicate been acting any different than usual?" The sisters exchanged a glance and shook their heads, "He’s always paranoid. He only contacts us when he needs something and always makes us meet him at a specific place. Today’s not unusual at all."
"Ha! What a joke," Xiao Di sneered. "You two are a disgrace to mistresses everywhere." Having been teased by the Fox Sisters earlier, Xiao Di was still fired up. Even though she’d already gotten her revenge in that little room, she wasn’t about to let them off easy now.
The sisters didn’t get angry at Xiao Di’s jab. They didn’t even look at her, their eyes glued to Jill Young. Jill Young asked again, "Based on your guess, when will the Syndicate want to see you two next?"
"No later than seven days," Papa said confidently. "Turbulent Den’s profits settle once a month, and the settlement day is in seven days. That’s when we have to hand over the money to the Syndicate’s group. He’ll definitely meet us then."
"Alright. We’ll set seven days as our window for action. Pierce, with our vice boss kidnapped, the whole gang should be going nuts, so let the boys stir things up. Use this chaos to clean out any hidden dangers or traitors left over from our recent rapid expansion."
"Got it." Pierce nodded, arms folded, cool as ever.
"Xiao Di, you’re technically a kidnap victim right now. By rights, you should be getting all kinds of brutal training... Want to experience it for real?"
"You wouldn’t dare!" Xiao Di glared instantly.
"Alright, alright, just stay holed up. Eat and drink whatever you want. If you ever get fed up, I can arrange a rescue mission to ‘save’ you, how’s that?" Anyway, the Fox Sisters were double agents now, so bait wasn’t really needed anymore.
"Sounds good," Xiao Di nodded. "Oh, and I want a matcha milkshake from Corner Street."
"As for you two," Jill Young squinted at the Fox Sisters, a mischievous grin making them shiver. "Normally, you’d be busy interrogating Xiao Di, so you wouldn’t need to show your faces much. Perfect, our experiment isn’t finished yet, so let’s keep going. I’ve always been curious about identical twins—should’ve been one person, but ended up two bodies. Nature’s handiwork deserves a closer look." She slung an arm around each of them, her meaning clear.
Just hearing Jill Young mention the experiment made the sisters shiver all over, but they didn’t dare object—their faces went pale. Still, their eyes showed a mix of fear and curiosity, like someone who found a bag of heroin: wanting to throw it away, but too fascinated and scared to let go. That complicated look really got Pierce’s imagination working overtime.
"Hey, Xiao Di, since you’ve got nothing better to do, wanna be my assistant?"
"Pass," Xiao Di shook her head. "I never want to be part of your experiments again—don’t want to see, don’t want to hear, and definitely don’t want to help."
"No worries, Boss, I can help!" Pierce shot his hand up, licking his lips and grinning lecherously. "I’ll just watch, promise I won’t cause trouble. Maybe I’ll even have some suggestions!" He was dying of curiosity.
These two Fox Sisters had made a huge name for themselves in Steelbull City’s nightlife, running the top-tier brothel since the fall of Purity Lord. Anything the shut-ins could dream up, to them, was just a breeze. To get people like that so obedient in half a day, and to see their faces change at the word ‘experiment’—Pierce really wanted to know how Jill Young pulled it off.
But Jill Young just shook her head, "Nope. Guys stay out. No entry."
"Boss~" Pierce widened his eyes and tried to act cute.
"Alright, alright, you can stop trying. It’s not working. Enough chit-chat—everyone get to work. Take down the Syndicate, unite Queen’s District, it all starts now—move out!" "Yes, ma’am!"
With Jill Young’s order, everyone got busy with their own tasks over the next few days. Everyone in No One Under Heaven knew the vice boss had been kidnapped—it was like poking a hornet’s nest. Only a handful knew the real story behind Xiao Di’s ‘fishing’ mission; everyone else genuinely thought their vice boss was missing. So the whole gang was furious, and when the boss gave the word, all the boys charged out in every direction.
They swept through, checking every suspicious place and person. Any spy planted by rival groups got nabbed instantly. Some tried to run when things got hot, but it was too late. Most were caught on No One Under Heaven’s turf, and the few who made it out of Queen’s District thought they were safe—only to get dragged back, no matter how far they’d run.
Of course, the powers behind those spies were pissed, but now wasn’t the time to mess with No One Under Heaven, so they gave up on their agents. At the heart of it all, in Queen’s District, the storm was even wilder. Thanks to relentless effort, intel finally pointed to Turbulent Den. Fired-up gangsters rushed into every Turbulent Den shop, tearing the place apart. Business tanked overnight.
After four days of hard work, they finally broke through: No One Under Heaven learned that Xiao Di had been moved to a Morningstar base by Turbulent Den. Led by Jill Young, the gang stormed the place, rescued Xiao Di, and took over another chunk of territory. Morningstar was furious but had to pull back and swallow their anger.
Papa’s prediction was spot-on—on the seventh day, the Syndicate finally reached out to ‘give a reward.’ The location? The most famous spot in Queen’s District: Syndicate Tower.
