Damien Gray stood by the bedside, elegantly smoothing the wrinkles from his clothes. With a gentle smile, he said, "Since my Princess Consort has spoken so, if I cared about such things, wouldn’t that make me petty?" He truly did not care for these empty formalities.
Their smiles concealed daggers, yet neither seemed intent on destroying the other. It was as if last night and the earlier events had never happened at all.
After Damien left, Susie Yun hesitated, wanting to speak to Morgan Shangguan. After a long pause, Morgan finally sighed and smiled, "If you have something to say, just say it!"
Susie Yun asked hesitantly, "Um... Miss, you and the Ghost King..."
Morgan Shangguan replied nonchalantly, "I was just drunk." She felt a bit dazed—how long had it been since she’d last been drunk? No, she had never truly lost herself to drink; no matter what, she always kept a sliver of clarity.
Morgan sighed in relief. Thankfully, Damien hadn’t taken advantage of her drunken state—otherwise, if she had to face her grandfather in the Underworld and explain her death, she wouldn’t even know what to say.
"Then... you two..."
Morgan answered calmly, "Susie, I am his Princess Consort now!" If she claimed that nothing happened between her and Damien, Susie would only think she suffered a loss spending the night alone with him, so this was the best answer.
But even this answer didn’t silence Susie. As she helped Morgan comb her hair, she watched her reflection in the mirror and asked, "Miss, do you like the Ghost King?"
Morgan felt a slight headache, but she knew Susie was only concerned for her. She sighed and replied, "Susie, I know what I’m doing." Hearing this, Susie finally stopped asking.
After breakfast, Susie Yun finally spoke about serious matters. "Miss, in half a month, Rakshasa Palace is inviting martial world outlaws to a gathering at Blue Lake Tavern." As she spoke, she handed over an invitation.
Susie Yun was now the Vice Leader of the Cloud Guild. She was always capable, and with Ryan Ouyang’s support, Morgan Shangguan felt reassured.
Morgan took the invitation, glanced at it, and tossed it casually onto the table. She asked, "Did they invite all the outlaws?"
"Yes, even the Ghost Guild is among the invitees."
This made Ryan Ouyang furious. He probably never imagined that his Demonhunters Guild would one day be invited to an outlaw gathering!
Morgan thought for a moment and said, "Get ready. We’ll set out in five days!" A sudden invitation to gather outlaws was surely connected to the Cloud Guild—after all, the Cloud Guild had stolen their rightful place.
Susie Yun wondered how she would calm Ryan Ouyang later, and said, "Miss, this time you won’t be back after just one night. What about the Ghost King?"
Morgan sipped her tea and pondered, "Just say the Prince is in poor health, and as his Princess Consort, I must go to Qingyin Temple to pray for him!"
Susie Yun frowned, "Will the Ghost King believe that? He seems so shrewd—such a clumsy excuse would be easily uncovered."
Suddenly, Susie Yun realized something and widened her eyes. Wait a minute! Didn’t the Ghost King already reveal his fake illness to Miss? So this excuse was obviously just a made-up story!
Morgan said calmly, "This is just to distract others—no need to worry about Damien Gray! Let him suspect if he wants; after all, he never saw me as a harmless person."
Susie Yun frowned, pondering Morgan's words—who were these 'others'? Before she could figure it out, Morgan continued, "Go ask Damien Gray for twenty people. Tell him I need absolute peace while praying for him—no one is to disturb me!"
In fact, if she disappeared from the manor, no one would notice. This was just a precaution—in case someone with ulterior motives tried to find her and discovered she was gone, it could get troublesome.
Susie Yun twitched her lips. Was Miss brazenly asking the Ghost King to cover for them? If no one was allowed to disturb her, naturally no one would notice her absence—but wouldn’t the Ghost King know everything?
Seeing Susie Yun’s confused expression, Morgan kindly explained, "There are plenty of people watching me and Damien Gray right now. I don’t want them causing trouble for me. There are so many talented people in the Ghost King’s Manor, wandering around all day with nothing to do—I might as well put them to use."
She was now the Ghost King's Princess Consort. Going to pray and having the manor guards protect her was perfectly normal. But if she used her own people, it would be like announcing to those watching her, "I’m up to something!"
"But... will the Ghost King agree?" Susie Yun doubted. She felt her mind had gotten less sharp since serving Miss—she never seemed to understand Miss’s plans.
Morgan smiled lightly, "Just try and see."
So Susie Yun went to Damien Gray with the request. To her surprise, he agreed after only a moment’s thought, without asking anything further. Susie was amazed—perhaps her Miss really could predict the future!
As for the bewildered Maxwell Jing and Ethan Gu, Damien Gray simply ignored them.
It was another night, dark and windy. Sensing someone suddenly appear in her room, Morgan sat up slowly and flicked her finger—the lamp on the table lit up.
Seeing the elderly man in green robes, Morgan smiled, "Is there something you need?"
Master Ethan Yi furrowed his brow, sizing up Morgan, as if making some kind of assessment.
Morgan allowed him to scrutinize her, her face calm and smiling. Suddenly, Master Ethan Yi flashed to her bedside, his right hand forming a claw and reaching for her—but stopped abruptly, only centimeters away, unable to get any closer no matter how hard he tried.
Feeling the chill in the air, Master Ethan Yi’s eyes widened in shock. "You can communicate with spirits! What is your connection to the Simon Family?"
Morgan raised an eyebrow and said softly, "Go back and rest!" Instantly, Master Ethan Yi felt the restraint on his body vanish, and the little purple gourd by Morgan’s pillow closed its lid on its own.
Master Ethan Yi’s eyes were full of caution as he looked at Morgan. There are those who can control souls, but as far as he knew, only one person had ever reached this level—the Simon Family once produced a genius who could communicate and control spirits. Aside from that person, no one else had come close, even those with high talent only excelled at prophecy.
