Perfectly Matching Details

"Well, what else could we do? We can’t just stand by and watch him get trapped in there, right?" Lily Bai said. "Besides, this Tea-Tree Spirit is pretty gentle and well-behaved. What do you think, Young Master Drake?"

Chacha bowed to Leo Li and sweetly greeted, "Little immortal greets the High God."

Leo Li gave a gentle smile.

"Young Master Drake, they’ve been inside the array for over a month. I think we should question them a bit more thoroughly," said one of Leo Li’s subordinates. "It’ll help us break the array."

Leo Li nodded and said to Lily Bai and Nine Li, "You’ve been gone for more than a month. I’m sure you went through a lot. I’d like to hear the details, if you don’t mind."

Lily Bai and Nine Li exchanged a glance and nodded, "Whatever Young Master Drake wants to know, we’ll tell you honestly."

"Good. Nine Li, come with me," Leo Li said, leading Nine Li away alone.

Lily Bai was also taken by one of Leo Li’s subordinates to a separate room, where she was asked all sorts of detailed questions.

For example: How long after you entered were you blown apart by the wind?

What was the situation in that gorge?

What kinds of trees were there?

Did the tribulation lightning affect you?

How did you get out?

And so on.

Lily Bai answered each question one by one.

After she finished answering, he still wouldn’t let her leave. He sat there frowning, like he was waiting for orders.

......

Henry Xiao walked into the room where Leo Li was interrogating Nine Li. He glanced at Nine Li and sent a voice transmission: "Why is Nine Li here alone? Where’s Lily Bai?"

"She’s in another room. Xuan Ye is talking with her."

"Why does this feel like an interrogation? And why are you separating them?" Henry Xiao frowned.

Leo Li replied via voice transmission, "Your Highness, there are lots of suspicious things. Zane Lin was abducted by Mirage, yet they came and went unharmed. All very suspicious. If we split them up and ask separately, and their details don't match, that's even more suspicious."

"Did their details match?" Henry Xiao asked.

Leo Li paused, sounding a bit annoyed as he answered, "They matched perfectly."

"Then let them go rest already," Henry Xiao said, getting up and heading out to look for Lily Bai.

Meanwhile, Lily Bai was getting annoyed that the Divine General questioning her wouldn’t say anything. She asked, "Sir Divine General, are you done asking questions?"

"Just a moment."

"A moment for what? What are you guys playing at?"

"Nothing really," the Divine General said. "We just want to understand more about what happened in the array."

"So, are you done understanding?"

"Go ahead." He’d just received Leo Li’s order and let her leave.

As soon as Lily Bai stepped out, she ran right into Henry Xiao.

Still visibly angry, she saluted Henry Xiao and said rather sharply, "Fourth Highness, I’m honestly ashamed! Out of more than a dozen disciples, only the two of us made it back—and we didn’t even break the array core."

"Lily, if it was beyond your abilities, then no one can blame you," Henry Xiao said. "You’ve worked hard."

Lily Bai was about to reply when she suddenly heard Chacha crying.

Following the sound, she found Chacha in another room, squatting in the corner and crying.

Two more of Leo Li’s subordinates were standing in front of him, looking exasperated.

"Chacha, what’s going on?" Lily Bai called out.

"High Immortal!" Chacha darted behind her to hide. "They want to kill me and steal my stuff!"

Lily Bai shot a cold look at the two Divine Generals.

"How could we?" The two of them looked innocent. "Why would we rob a little immortal who just transformed?"

"Chacha, tell me exactly what happened."

"They asked me a ton of questions—like if I really just transformed. I said yes. Then they insisted I was lying, drew their swords at me, demanded to know who ordered me to follow you, and tried to snatch the Storage Pouch you gave me!"
