Intercepting the Spoils

The other bodyguards nodded. "Alright, I'll go get a search dog. Since it's Zhang Family infighting, whatever they're hiding can't be far. We'll just narrow the search and comb the area."

"Very good." Cherry Miller looked at him approvingly. "I'll leave this to you guys."

Sherry Yuan asked, "If we're busy with this, who's going to protect you during the Shrine Ceremony?"

"Don't worry. You'll finish this before the ceremony day comes." Cherry Miller was confident.

When Yina Yin and Ryan King heard about this, both fully supported Cherry Miller's decision.

Since the Zhang Family can't get along, they can't blame us for swooping in!

Ryan King even came up with an idea. "The Zhangs already lost their grain once—losing it two or three more times won't hurt! We've got a ready-made scapegoat!"

Yina Yin couldn't help but laugh and gave Ryan King a thumbs-up.

That idea? Not bad at all.

Cherry Miller laughed too. "I like it."

After saying that, Cherry Miller hooked her finger: "Come on, let's talk strategy—how do we get Zachary Zhang to keep taking the blame for us?"

The Zhang Family's grain warehouses aren't just in one place—they've got several.

Grain is one of the foundations of Six Saints Town, so the warehouses are built extra tall and sturdy.

Of course, this so-called 'tall and sturdy' is just relative to the standards of Six Saints Town.

In a place like Six Saints Town, where there's no cement or thick steel plates, digging a tunnel with a hoe isn't exactly realistic.

But that didn't stop Cherry and her crew—they managed to scrounge up all sorts of tools from outside!

Ethan Yin was super helpful too. When he heard Cherry and the others planned to empty out the Zhang Family's grain warehouses, not only did he not stop them, he even sent over digging equipment and manpower.

So, the group hid in the woods during the day to rest, and at night, they started digging a tunnel for the heist.

They dug all the way from the outskirts of Six Saints Town to the grain warehouse.

They broke right through the warehouse floor, carving out a massive tunnel over a meter wide.

Once the night watchmen fell asleep, a few people snuck in and, like ants moving house, carried out all the bags of grain. Yuan Shisan and the others waiting outside took everything to the secret base.

This went on for more than ten days.

During those days, Third Young Master Zhang just watched the chaos unfold, seeing the eldest and the young master run around like headless chickens, all while smirking at their misfortune.

What Third Young Master Zhang didn’t know was that several Zhang Family grain warehouses were already empty shells, and even the stash he’d hidden away had been found and secretly moved by Yuan Shisan and the others.

After finishing up, they quickly destroyed the tunnel and wiped away all traces.

It was as if nothing had ever happened.

"Xiao Ying, why did you gather so much grain?" Yina Yin was quick to notice that Cherry Miller seemed to be planning something.

Cherry Miller didn’t hide it from her and explained, "Yina, I’m just preparing for the worst. If nothing happens, great. But if it does, at least we won’t be facing a disaster."

Sean King thought for a moment and understood what Cherry meant. "Sis Cherry, you’re worried about a landslide wiping out the town?"

Cherry nodded and said, "I’ve walked around all the hills near Six Saints Town these past few days. Almost all of them have lost their vegetation. If there’s a heavy rain, Six Saints Town will be hit first! There’s no way to explain this to them, so we just have to be ready. I hope we won’t need it—there are thousands of lives at stake. Most people here are innocent!"

Yina Yin said, "You’re right. I’ll have them prepare more medicine, just in case."

"Good." Cherry reminded her, "And get some lime and disinfectant, too. I’m worried about an outbreak."

Cherry Miller may be a shrewd businesswoman, but she still has a compassionate heart.

She’s ruthless with business rivals.

But when it comes to ordinary people, she’s unbelievably soft-hearted.

While the Zhang Family was searching every corner for their missing grain, Cherry and her team’s secret base was quietly filling up.

That day, Cherry was in the kitchen making jujube cakes for the shrine ceremony when she saw Eldest Young Master Zhang storming over, picking a fight with Third Young Master: "Third, get out here!"

Third Young Master Zhang strolled out of his room, slow as ever. "Big Brother, what’s got you in such a rush? I’ve already stepped down, remember? None of this is my business anymore."

"You’ve got some nerve!" Eldest Young Master Zhang waved his hand, and someone dragged over a man tied up tight, shoving him to the ground. The guy’s eyes were dark from exhaustion, burning with anger. "Look who this is. Got anything to say for yourself?"

Third Young Master Zhang looked down and saw it was his trusted aide. His face changed instantly. "Big Brother, what’s the meaning of this?"

"I should be asking you that! Third, do you really hate me that much? You actually stole from your own family!" Eldest Young Master Zhang was so angry he was practically steaming. "Tell me—where’s the grain? Where did you hide it?"

The man tied up on the ground cried out in pain, "Third Young Master, I can’t take it anymore. Just admit it, please!"

Third Young Master Zhang laughed bitterly, "Big Brother grabs one of my men and tries to pin this on me? I’m not buying it!"

"It’s not about you buying it or not." Eldest Young Master Zhang waved his hand. "Search! I refuse to believe we can’t find that grain!"

Third Young Master Zhang wasn’t worried at all, acting generous: "If Big Brother doesn’t trust me, go ahead and search. My yard’s only so big—look wherever you want!"

Eldest Young Master Zhang sneered, "You’re so generous, it’s obvious you didn’t hide anything here. No problem, I know you have more than one place! Bring the men over!"

As soon as he finished, another man was dragged over.

This guy was only wearing an undershirt, clearly snatched from bed.

If the first tied-up man just made Third Young Master Zhang’s face darken, this one made him truly uneasy.

"Big Brother, what are you doing? Grabbing my people one after another—are you trying to embarrass me?" Third Young Master Zhang panicked.

Because this guy actually knew about the grain transfer!

Eldest Young Master Zhang sneered, "What, Third, getting nervous? Too late! Let’s go search the house!"

With that, he dragged the man outside.

"Big Brother, wait, wait…" Third Young Master Zhang was like an ant on a hot pan, trying to stop him.

But it was already too late.

Eldest Young Master Zhang led a huge crowd out of the family compound and headed to a nearby house.

Cherry Miller found it all pretty entertaining and quietly followed to watch the show.

Actually, a lot of people tagged along for the spectacle, and Cherry blended right in.

The house officially belonged to the guy dragged over in his underwear. It was big enough to hide hundreds of tons of grain.

Just as Eldest Young Master Zhang was feeling triumphant, sure he’d catch the thief red-handed, and Third Young Master Zhang was despairing that all his secrets would be exposed, the crowd kicked open the door.

Eldest Young Master Zhang raised his finger, ready to accuse Third Young Master Zhang over the grain in the yard, when suddenly his eyes widened, and he froze.

The yard that was supposed to be piled high with grain was now completely empty.

Third Young Master Zhang, who had been desperate to stop his brother from entering, was first relieved, then stunned as his mind went blank.

The grain was gone.

Both Eldest and Third Young Master Zhang were dumbfounded.

Neither could accept what had just happened.

How could this be?

Cherry Miller watched from the crowd, arms folded, enjoying the show.

Wow, Yuan Shisan and the gang really moved fast!

They must've intercepted hundreds of tons of grain, inside and out.

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Third Young Master Zhang finally got his wits about him. He didn’t bother feeling bad about the grain and instead turned on his brother.

He sneered, "Big Brother made such a big fuss just to kick open this yard and admire the view? If you can find even a single grain here, I’ll eat it all myself!"

Eldest Young Master Zhang was furious. "Search! I don’t believe it!"

A crowd rushed in, but after searching every corner, they couldn’t find a single grain—let alone a pile!

"Where else do you want to look, Big Brother? Want me to open every door and let you search one by one?" Third Young Master Zhang said, putting on airs.

Eldest Young Master Zhang glared at him, "We’re leaving!"

"Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!" Third Young Master Zhang didn’t have time to argue—he was more worried about where the grain had gone!

He’d set a trap for his big brother, sure, but he hadn’t planned to actually lose the grain.

But it was like the grain had grown legs—all of it was gone.

Suddenly, Third Young Master Zhang felt a sense of dread: if the grain hidden here was gone, could something have happened to the rest in the warehouses too?

He couldn’t be bothered to keep fighting with his brother and rushed straight to the Zhang Family’s big grain warehouses.

"Open up, hurry, open every grain warehouse door!" Third Young Master Zhang screamed.

The warehouse guards had no idea what was going on. They looked at each other, then slowly went to open the doors.

The moment the doors opened, everyone stared in shock!

The warehouses that should have been packed full were now completely empty.

It was like a giant beast with its mouth wide open, mocking their stupidity.

"Ah!" Third Young Master Zhang screamed, his vision went black, and he collapsed to the ground.

As he fainted, all he could think was, it’s over—this time, it’s really over!

News of the Zhang Family’s warehouses being robbed spread like wildfire across Six Saints Town.

Everyone in town was obsessed with the topic; you could hear people discussing it everywhere.

Sean King and Yina Yin exchanged glances and smiled, keeping their achievements to themselves.

With all that grain, it felt like they finally had some real confidence.
