A Noble Concubine's Status for You

Grace turned around and saw Aunt Leah.

Originally, she had no right to enter the palace.

But because Queenie Zhu was participating in the tournament, she pleaded with the Matriarch to let her enter the palace and watch the battle.

"Yes," Grace replied.

I heard your spirit beast is something special! It really does look different from other antlered serpents—why does it even have fur on its head?

Grace stroked the antlered serpent’s fur and smiled, saying nothing.

Ah! It was so hard for Queenie Zhu to get a spirit beast she liked, and now she’s lost it in such a muddled way," Aunt Leah sighed. "Today, she’s fighting with a little golden wolf she bought from the spirit pet shop. With so little time to bond, who knows how it’ll go!

Grace absentmindedly stroked the antlered serpent, still saying nothing.

Grace, come here for a moment. Aunt Leah has something to discuss with you," Aunt Leah said again.

Grace couldn’t refuse, so she left the viewing platform with Aunt Leah and went to a quiet spot nearby.

Aunt Leah, what is it? Please, go ahead.

Grace, name your price!" Aunt Leah said, not beating around the bush.

Name my price? What do you mean?" Grace raised an eyebrow.

What conditions do you want in exchange for giving the antlered serpent to Queenie Zhu?" Aunt Leah asked. "Whatever you want, Aunt Leah will agree to it.

Aunt Leah, what are you saying?" Grace replied. "We’re family. If my spirit pet would listen to me, I’d have given it to Queenie long ago. But I’m not a spirit master—this little guy doesn’t listen to me at all!

We’ve all raised spirit pets," Aunt Leah said. "What makes a spirit pet special is that its master can give it something it can’t get by itself. Rarely do spirit pets not listen to their masters.

If Aunt Leah doesn’t believe me, there’s nothing I can do," Grace said calmly.

Aunt Leah’s eyes flashed, and she changed the subject: “Grace, what do you think of General Xiao?”

He’s pretty good.

Not just good—he’s the best!" Aunt Leah gave a thumbs up. "His cultivation is unmatched, already the top in the Blue Moon Kingdom. And his looks—he’s the most handsome in the kingdom! Plus, he doesn’t have any concubines at home.

So?" Grace looked at her.

What is she getting at?

If you help Queenie Zhu win first place, she’ll become the General’s wife! When she gets married, you’ll go with her to the General’s mansion and be given the status of a noble concubine. Among all the women in the General’s mansion, aside from Queenie, you’ll be the most honored and respected. What do you think?

Grace was stunned, then couldn’t help but laugh: “Aunt Leah, how could I possibly serve the same husband as Queenie? Wouldn’t she slap me to death in my sleep?”

How could that happen?" Aunt Leah said awkwardly.

Grace rubbed her nose. “Aunt Leah, no matter how you put it, the antlered serpent really doesn’t listen to me! It understands human speech—why don’t you ask it yourself? If it agrees, I have no objections!”

Aunt Leah looked at the antlered serpent in Grace’s arms, walked up to it, and put on a flattering smile: “Little Antlered Serpent, your name is Little Cutie, right? If you go with my daughter Queenie, I promise you’ll get lots of pills for cultivation. Queenie’s uncle is a spirit alchemist!”

But Little Cutie was asleep and didn’t move at all.

Aunt Leah, it seems like it’s going into hibernation. It’s been sleeping all the time," Grace said.

Wake it up, quick!' Aunt Leah frowned. 'No matter what, it has to be awake today!'
