Ken Feng paused mid-sentence.
He glanced at Jill Jing and Lynn Chen, who were both watching him. Instantly, he sensed a subtle shift in their emotions.
"Uh, well, Ivy Deng and Chloe Cheng really have nothing to do with Evan anymore."
Ken Feng explained, afraid the two girls might misunderstand: "They just... used to chase after Evan. Back then, you know... yeah, they tried to pursue him."
"But don't worry—Evan never liked them, seriously, he wouldn't even spare them a glance, I'm telling you."
Ken kept rambling on.
Lynn stayed quiet, while Jill Jing gulped down her cola.
"Just eat your noodles."
Evan Lin shook his head, already knowing what Ken was worried about.
Honestly, it didn't really make sense.
Back then, among Evan, Hank Chu, and Ken Feng...
Ken Feng was always the smooth talker, acting like some kind of romance guru. But in the end, he got burned the worst by women.
If it weren't for Evan, Ken probably would've kept wearing that green hat, grinning like an idiot every day.
Lynn Chen heard Ken's words and didn't seem to take them to heart, but she kept wanting to say something, stopping herself each time.
After a while, she looked a bit gloomy.
Clearly, her mind was still stuck on the names Chloe Cheng and Ivy Deng.
Hank Chu and Evan chatted about school stuff. Hank had planned to bring his girlfriend home for New Year's, but after thinking it over, he decided to wait a bit.
Thanks to Evan, both Hank and his girlfriend had been set up with great jobs. They could support themselves now, and the pay and benefits were top-tier.
Most importantly, the room for advancement was practically limitless.
Evan had thought about it—later on, when the time was right, he'd indirectly give Hank some shares and cash. Of course, the way he handed over these material things would matter a lot.
All of it would be done without affecting the relationship between Evan and Hank.
Eating ramen and shooting the breeze...
Their table looked lively and full of warmth.
After eating, Ken Feng dragged Evan off to check out his dad's mountain resort.
Compared to before, the resort's roads had been repaved, and all the facilities had been upgraded.
Now the snowy scenery covered the mountains, everything wrapped in silver—absolutely beautiful.
"My dad said, if I ever can't make it out there and end up a nobody, I can just come back and inherit the resort."
Ken leaned on the bridge railing, looking out at the scene: "I used to always want to go out and make a name for myself, be somebody. But now, honestly, life—farm wife, mountain spring, a bit of land—that's all I really want."
"Even if that's the peak, there's nothing more to chase. I just hope someday the matchmaker can tie a red thread for me and send me a wife."
"She doesn't have to be gorgeous, just easy on the eyes. Doesn't have to be super hardworking, just willing to cook and wash dishes together. What's the best thing in the world? Probably real, honest love."
