Fisherman’s Profit

Evan Chu knew that after entering the Origin Worldstone, anyone at the God-King Realm would want to kill him for his Immortal Tokens. After all, he was only at the God-Lord Realm, and in their eyes, he was the easiest target—meaning the best chance to seize tokens.

All around were giant trees that would take several people to encircle, their branches and leaves dense, with birdsong echoing through the forest. There was no sun here, but the light was more than sufficient—just like the space inside the Timewheel Bracelet, except the divine energy was much thinner. Of course, at this moment, Evan Chu had no idea what was happening inside the bracelet, since he hadn’t checked with his divine sense for a long time.

With a flash of his figure, Evan Chu leapt onto the trunk of a massive tree and sat down. From this vantage point, he could avoid a lot of trouble—at the very least, it’d be harder for others to spot him. What he needed to do now was mentally rehearse the Wind-God Sword Art.

He found that the Wind-God Sword Art felt tailor-made for him. Now that he’d mastered the Wind Element, grasping the sword moves was like second nature—smooth and effortless, just like a fish in water.

Evan Chu poured his heart into cultivating the Wind-God Sword Art, utterly ignoring everything else happening inside the Origin Worldstone. Seven days slipped by without him noticing, and by then he’d already mastered the first four forms—his proficiency was near-perfect.

But he didn’t rush to put them into practice—doing so would create a huge commotion and draw in other God-King Realm contestants. He sensed that he could still keep progressing.

The Wind-God Sword Art had only six main forms, but each form contained six variations—making thirty-six moves in total. By now, he’d already grasped the first twenty-four. He hadn’t tested their power yet, but he was sure their force would be absolutely overwhelming.

Actually, Evan Chu didn’t know that the Wind-God Sword Art was ranked among the top ten divine arts in the God Realm. His Sevenfold Absolute Cleave placed fourth, Ninefold Stellar Transformation was second, Lost Gods Valley’s Heaven-Shatter Thunder Cleave came in third, and the number one spot belonged to Heavenblade Sect’s Chaos Godslayer Sword Art.

But no one had ever mastered the Chaos Godslayer Sword Art to completion. Heavenblade Sect’s reclusive Sect Master was said to be cultivating this peerless divine art in seclusion—if he emerged having perfected it, who knows how terrifying his strength would be. Maybe the God, Demon, and Nether realms would have no more rivals.

Blue-Shade God-Venerable’s Wind-God Sword Art was likely ranked eighth, but even so, it was a peerless martial art of immense power. Few could ever master it—even Blue-Shade God-Venerable, with his late-stage God-Venerable strength, had only half-understood the final move and didn’t know how to unleash it.

The final sword move wasn’t recorded on the jade tablet at all—it had to be comprehended entirely on one’s own, and didn’t even have a name. If Blue‑Shade God‑Venerable couldn’t grasp it, then Evan Chu was even less likely to manage it right now.

At this point, the later sword forms were extremely difficult—each one took ages to comprehend, their power kept increasing, and the strain on his mind grew heavier and heavier. Though Evan Chu kept his eyes closed, rehearsing sword moves in his mind, sweat was already pouring down his body like rain.

When he reached the twenty-ninth move, Evan Chu finally stopped. That was his current limit—the remaining sword forms required immense Chaos Divine Power to unleash, and the mental drain was simply too much to bear.

Opening his eyes, Evan Chu used Water Transformation to wash away the sweat on his body, then floated down from the tree. By his calculations, he’d already spent about twenty days inside the Origin Worldstone—only ten days left, so he had to hurry, or he really might get eliminated.

It would be a lie to say he didn’t want Zoe Rainveil. Luck really is on my side—I haven’t run into a single person yet. The others must be in the same boat. With only a few hundred people inside the Origin Worldstone, getting fifty Immortal Tokens is like trying to pluck stars from the sky. I need to get out of this forest, fast.

With that, Evan Chu soared into the air and began flying quickly, fully spreading his divine sense to search for anyone nearby. After about an hour of flight, he smiled faintly—he’d found his target.

"You two aren’t qualified to make me hand over my tokens. Pulling such despicable tricks just proves you’re used to doing evil. Today, I’ll wipe you out for the good of the people—and take your tokens while I’m at it!" Evan Chu said, voice cold and righteous.

"Hahaha, did I hear that right? He thinks he can take our tokens? Look at his realm—he’s just a God-Lord! Isn’t he the guy who snatched the Ethereal Divine Shuttle at the auction? Liao, we’re in for a windfall!" one of the young men said, eyes gleaming with excitement.

“If he’s only got one token, just let him have it—we’ll look for our next target. Liao, your plan’s really working. Just twenty-something more tokens and we can leave. When the time comes, whether Zoe Rainveil picks you or me depends on our luck,” the other replied.

“Exactly. Just thinking about Zoe Rainveil’s stunning beauty gets my heart racing. Even if I could spend just one night with her, it’d be worth dying for. Wang, let’s see which one of us will win her in the end!” the first one said.

Evan Chu had no idea the two weren’t really fighting—their main goal was to lure people in. After all this time, neither of them had a scratch.

Evan Chu quickly reached their battlefield, found a hidden spot, and tried to conceal himself. “Why hide, friend? We’ve been waiting for you a long time! If you don’t want to die, hand over your Immortal Tokens—otherwise, next year today will be your death anniversary.” A voice rang in Evan Chu’s ears.

Evan Chu instantly realized what was going on—their fight was bait, meant to trick people into thinking they could swoop in and claim the spoils, but really, the two were planning to team up against anyone who showed up.

He saw the pair stop just fifty meters away from him—and both were late-stage God-Kings. That surprised Evan Chu; he could handle one, but two at once was another story.

He didn’t dare use the Final Slash of Sevenfold Absolute Cleave—he didn’t have enough Chaos Divine Power to execute it. This time, he really was in trouble. There was no way he’d hand over his tokens.

Even if he gave up his tokens, he could still get more from others—but he wouldn’t do that. He didn’t believe these two would really let him go so easily. Besides, he planned to take their tokens for himself.

“You two aren’t qualified to make me hand over my tokens. Using such despicable tricks just shows you’re used to doing evil. Today, I’ll rid the world of you—and take your tokens while I’m at it!” Evan Chu said sternly.

“Hahaha, did I hear that right? He thinks he can take our tokens? Look at his realm—he’s just a God-Lord! Isn’t he the guy who got the Ethereal Divine Shuttle at the auction? Liao, we’re in for a windfall!” one of the young men said excitedly.
