You Can't Do Business Like This

She arrived with a heavy stack of forty million silver notes and met with Andrew Hai.

She planned to exchange money for goods, but unexpectedly, Andrew Hai changed his mind at the last minute!

He didn't want the money anymore.

He said he wanted Spirit Jade.

"Weren't we supposed to settle for thirty-five million silver? Why do you suddenly want Spirit Jade?" Sophie Sun's eyes widened.

"I've changed my mind!" Andrew Hai said. "Now, I don't want silver notes. I want Spirit Jade. Five hundred catties of Mystic Spirit Jade, or fifty catties of Earth Spirit Jade. If you've got it, we trade. If not, forget it."

"We already agreed!" Sophie Sun said, extremely annoyed. "If you keep going back on your word like this, how do you expect to do business in the future?"

"I'm not a businessman, so why would I care?" Andrew Hai replied. "Do you have Spirit Jade or not? If you don't, that's it! I'll have the escort agency send it back directly!"

Sophie Sun took a deep breath and finally said, "You think you're the only option? I'll buy from someone else! I can get it for just ten million Spirit Jade!"

"Hahaha!" Andrew Hai laughed. "Black Ginseng goes for five hundred silver per root. He’s selling you seventy thousand roots for ten million silver? Go ahead, buy it if you dare! Just don’t blame me if you get scammed!"

Sophie Sun's eyes flickered.

A couple of days ago, someone approached her claiming to have seventy thousand roots of Black Ginseng and offered to sell them cheap.

Sophie Sun knew that Black Ginseng wasn't something just anyone could produce in such massive quantities.

And buying them all for just ten million silver? Totally unrealistic.

Most likely a scammer!

So she didn't bother with that person at all.

Bringing it up now was just to scare Andrew Hai.

But Andrew Hai was clearly not so easy to intimidate—his attitude was so tough, it was maddening.

After thinking it over, Sophie Sun reminded herself that the Spirit Alliance was her foundation.

In the future, she planned to join the Vermilion Spirit Alliance, maybe even go farther—her world was just getting bigger.

It was also her father's last wish.

No matter what, she absolutely could not leave the Spirit Alliance.

So, to avoid getting another major demerit, Sophie Sun finally gave in.

But she didn’t have five hundred catties of Mystic Spirit Jade—she only had a bit over two hundred, plus some Yellow Spirit Jade and a few pieces of Earth Spirit Jade.

Seeing she really couldn’t come up with more, Andrew Hai finally agreed.

Sophie Sun personally checked and counted the Black Ginseng. After confirming it was all good, she handed over the Spirit Jade to Andrew Hai.

But just as Andrew Hai got the Spirit Jade, he suddenly turned on her.

Out of nowhere, a master appeared and beat Sophie Sun and her people half to death, stole the Spirit Jade, and carted off the Black Ginseng...

Sophie Sun watched the carriage disappear into the distance and screamed, "An-drew-Hai!"

...

Andrew Hai stood obediently in front of the masked, black-clad Grace and said, "I've done exactly as you instructed. Can I have the antidote now?"

The only reason Andrew Hai was so compliant was because Grace had poisoned him.

Disobey, and you're dead!

Grace looked at Andrew Hai's familiar yet unfamiliar face, nodded, and reached inside her cloak.

But what she pulled out wasn't the antidote—it was... a sword.

Andrew Hai saw a flash of red... and that was the last thing he ever saw in this world.

Grace killed him.

Since she already knew what kind of person he'd become, it was better to nip the problem in the bud...

After destroying the body and wiping away all traces, she packed the Black Ginseng and Spirit Jade into her sanctum.

Looking at all the goods inside, she couldn't help but break into a huge smile.

Just look at all that extra Spirit Jade.

Now she could last a good while longer.
