Homeward Journey

After explaining the situation in Medicine King Valley, Evan Lin left the valley.

Along the way, everyone who looked at Evan Lin had only respect in their eyes.

Not far away, Yvonne Qu stood watching Evan Lin approach, her face full of complicated emotions and trembling as she was about to speak.

Beside her, Henry Yuan and Trent Yuan didn’t even have the courage to meet Evan Lin’s eyes.

Just a short while ago, they had glared coldly at this teenager, but now they knew—Evan Lin was actually Evan 'Nine Mysteries' Lin!

Simply knowing this fact was enough to fill them with deep fear.

“Evan Lin?”

Yvonne Qu looked at Evan Lin with anxiety, finding him suddenly unfamiliar.

“I don’t want anyone knowing what happened in the Valley. Can you do that?” Evan Lin glanced at her indifferently.

Yvonne Qu shuddered all over.

If Lynn Chen found out that Evan Lin was actually Evan 'Nine Mysteries' Lin, it might eventually reach Joy Zheng’s ears.

Right now, Evan Lin absolutely didn’t want to disturb Joy Zheng’s peaceful life, and even less wanted her to worry about him.

“I can! I definitely won’t tell anyone, not even Lynn!”

Yvonne Qu hurried to respond, terrified that even a moment’s hesitation would anger Evan Lin.

She’d seen Evan Lin’s methods with her own eyes—if he really wanted to do something to her, she’d be gone from this world in the next second.

“If anything else comes up, go find Warren Wu.”

After leaving that one sentence, Evan Lin walked straight out of the valley.

Outside the valley, in front of the clear pool, Evan Lin stepped onto the water and walked across the surface like a deity.

“Now, I can finally head home. I haven’t checked in for so long—Mom is probably worried sick.”

Lost in thought, Evan Lin arrived at Fisherman’s Pier and saw two people waiting by the shore.

One was Lucy Lu, the other was Queenie Tong.

"You’re back!"

Lucy Lu’s face lit up with joy when she saw Evan Lin walking across the lake surface.

Ever since Evan Lin entered Medicine King Valley riding a water dragon, there had been strange disturbances from the Valley—and then, total silence.

Now, seeing Evan Lin come out safe and sound, Lucy Lu finally felt relieved.

"Yeah, you’re still here?"

Evan Lin glanced at Lucy Lu and nodded. He didn’t have much of a bad impression of her.

"Of course, we were waiting for you. Also, could you please help save Queenie’s sister? I’m begging you—Queenie was young and didn’t know better before, and I apologize to you on her behalf!" Lucy Lu said, shooting Queenie Tong a look.

Queenie Tong was still in a daze, but quickly snapped out of it, hurried forward, and bowed deeply to Evan Lin, her face desperate: "Please, save my sister! If you agree, I’ll..."

At that, Queenie seemed to make up her mind: "I’ll do anything!"

Queenie Tong looked much more haggard than before. Facing Evan Lin now, her eyes were full of pleading, and she looked especially fragile.

Evan Lin glanced at her, his gaze indifferent. Seeing Lucy Lu’s sincere attitude, he took out a Nourishing Spirit Pill and handed it over: "Give this pill to your sister. No matter what, it’ll keep her alive. Whether she gets cured will depend on fate and any future chance for treatment."

After saying this, Evan Lin looked at Lucy Lu and gave a few simple instructions—mainly not to reveal his identity—then left for the valley’s exit.

"Lucy, is he mad at me?"

Queenie Tong clutched the Nourishing Spirit Pill, its fragrance drifting up to her nose. But thinking of how Evan Lin hadn’t even bothered to look at her before leaving, she felt nothing but disappointment and regret.

"I don’t know. With someone like him, how could I guess what he’s thinking? But I don’t think he gets angry that easily. He seems pretty chill, not petty at all. Plus, he gave you the pill—go give it to your sister, it should keep her alive."

Lucy Lu watched Evan Lin’s figure disappear into the distance and sighed, feeling a bit of inexplicable emotion herself.

......

Getting off the long-distance bus in Whitewood County, Evan Lin first went to the old shantytown, only to find it already under renovation and all the residents moved into resettlement housing.

So, Evan Lin simply headed straight for Mooncrest Manor.

Once inside the villa, Evan Lin found a spot to charge his phone, then called Joy Zheng.

He’d meant to ask how Joy Zheng was doing, but as soon as she picked up, she started scolding him.

She complained that his phone had been unreachable for so long, and asked where he’d been, saying he’d made everyone worry for nothing.

Listening to Joy Zheng’s scolding, Evan Lin could only nod and agree, not daring to argue. In the end, it was Joy herself who softened.

After hanging up, Joy Zheng finally returned home around five in the afternoon.

"Evan, you nearly scared me to death these past days! I called you so many times and you never called back! If this happens again, I’ll really be mad!"

When she saw Evan Lin safe and sound at home, Joy Zheng finally relaxed.

"Okay, okay, I got it."

Evan Lin kept nodding.

It was already mid-September, and school had started a while ago.

Truth be told, Evan Lin had already skipped half a month of classes.

Seeing Evan like this, Joy Zheng couldn’t help but tap him on the head: "You know, Auntie Lu and Lynn have called so many times during this period."

"Also, in a few days you’ll be going to school in Jinnan."

Joy Zheng said this as she walked toward the fridge to start making dinner.

"Going to school in Jinnan?"

Evan Lin was stunned by Joy Zheng’s words.

"That’s right, you didn’t know? Your Uncle Chen was promoted and sent to set up a new branch in Jinnan, and Lynn has already transferred there too. I wouldn’t feel safe leaving you alone in Brightsea, so I agreed to let Auntie Lu help with your transfer paperwork."

Joy Zheng rambled on.

"Transfer paperwork? Uh, I think Brightsea is fine. I can handle things here on my own—it’s just my last year of high school."

Evan Lin had barely finished speaking when Joy Zheng turned to him: "It’s not up for discussion. The transfer’s already done. But I heard from Auntie Lu that your math teacher at school thinks highly of you—if you get a chance to visit Brightsea, make sure to thank them properly, got it?"
