Divine Sword Tribulation

1/19/2026

Right now, Luna was feeling extremely tense. Evan Lin had survived plenty of lightning tribulations before, but those were all just Immortal Realm trials—this time he was facing a god-level tribulation, and its power was on a whole other level. She had no idea if he could really make it through.

Nolan Nangong, Zane Zuo, and Qin Xiaojiao all stared unblinking at the sky. As late-stage Immortal Emperors, they were all destined to ascend to the God Realm someday, so witnessing a god-level tribulation like this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance. Sure, you might get to see one at Skyflight Terrace, but those opportunities were way too rare.

Normally, whenever someone faces a god-level tribulation, the entire hundred-mile area around them is sealed off—if anyone shows up, it could distract the person crossing the tribulation, or worse, some schemer might try to rob their weapon or treasure while they're badly wounded. That’s a huge taboo.

But this time was different. Evan Lin wasn’t ascending to the God Realm himself, but his Frostbane Divine Sword had to cross an artifact tribulation—and honestly, there’s not much difference between that and a god-level tribulation. Watching it unfold was a rare chance to absorb experience, and it could help them a ton when facing their own tribulations in the future.

Right now, Xander Xuan was being dangled in front of Luna by Shadow like a little chick. "Sister-in-law, for Evan’s sake, we’ll let your father off this time. I hope he’ll turn over a new leaf and stop doing stupid things—otherwise, next time he might not get so lucky."

Luna glanced at Xander Xuan, wanting to say something but stopping herself. She was honestly speechless at this point. Just now, Blazefire Immortal Lord had come back—he’d gone out of his way to rescue Luna’s mother, but ended up running straight into the ambush sent by Shangguan Ruhuo. He arrived a moment too late and could only save her Immortal Infant, not her body.

But Evan Lin could reconstruct her body. Sure, it’d be a little awkward during the process, but they could just blindfold him. If Xander Xuan hadn’t come up with that idiotic plan back then, Luna’s mother never would’ve ended up like this.

Back when Shangguan Ruhuo wanted Luna to marry Shangguan Luoyang, Luna refused no matter what. It was Xander Xuan who came up with that rotten idea. Frankly, you could only call him heartless. Evan Lin letting him go was pure luck from a previous life.

Up in the sky, the tribulation clouds were getting thicker and thicker. In the blink of an eye, the whole sky went dark, like night was falling. Lightning kept flashing across the clouds, and thunder boomed nonstop, shaking the heavens.

The Frostbane Divine Sword was now floating quietly in midair, its blade still shining with dazzling light. Evan Lin remembered what the mysterious voice had said in his mind: he only needed to personally help block the final three bolts of lightning—the earlier ones, the Frostbane Divine Sword should be able to withstand on its own.

But here’s the catch—he had no idea how many bolts of lightning this tribulation would actually have. If he guessed wrong—say, thought there’d be seven but there were only five—the Frostbane Divine Sword might get destroyed before he could step in.

It was frustrating, but the tribulation still had to be crossed. Suddenly, a powerful pressure swept across the entire hundred-mile area around Skyshade Hall, making everyone feel like they were carrying a ten-thousand-jin weight—their breathing grew extremely difficult.

A bolt of red lightning crashed down from the sky. Its blinding light made it impossible for anyone to keep their eyes open, but plenty of people still squinted, desperate to witness this epic moment. Nobody dared probe it with Divine Sense, though—if your Divine Sense got struck by this lightning, you’d be dead, period.

Evan Lin’s heart was pounding. The red lightning was only as thick as a finger, but its sheer energy was nothing to sneeze at—it struck the Frostbane Divine Sword floating in the sky dead-on.

But right as the lightning was about to hit, the sword shot out a burst of sword-light that slammed straight into the bolt, shattering it completely. That’s the true power of a divine sword—it can unleash sword-qi attacks on its own, no wielder needed. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be worthy of the name ‘divine sword.’

It actually blocked the tribulation lightning by itself! This was the first time anyone had ever seen something like that—including Evan Lin. It was like watching a magic treasure in action, except nobody was controlling it. Totally unheard of.

Not long after, the second tribulation bolt appeared—a yellow lightning, a bit thicker than the first. But the Frostbane Divine Sword’s sword-qi blocked it again, though now its glow was noticeably dimmer.

At this rate, the Frostbane Divine Sword could probably only block two more bolts. That meant this tribulation had seven strikes total—the first five should be Five-Element Lightning, but the last two were anyone’s guess. Evan Lin had already whipped out two Immortal Crystals and was frantically absorbing energy; time was short, so he had to take in as much as he could.

Everyone else was anxiously waiting, too. The tribulation clouds kept churning overhead, and the pressure only got heavier and heavier. Some of the weaker immortals couldn’t even stand anymore—they were forced to lie flat on the ground.

Then another bolt appeared in the sky—this time, green lightning, as thick as a water barrel. Evan Lin’s heart was in his throat. If this lightning was really that strong, he had no idea if the Frostbane Divine Sword could handle it.

Evan Lin still didn’t understand why the Frostbane Sword and Solarion Sword reacted to each other like this, but he knew one thing: once the Frostbane Sword became the Frostbane Divine Sword, everything would make sense. If it couldn’t survive the lightning tribulation, it’d be destroyed—and he was more worried than anyone.

Once again, the Frostbane Sword fired a burst of sword-light, scattering the barrel-thick green lightning. But the sword was knocked back several hundred meters before it managed to steady itself in the air.

The sword’s glow grew even dimmer, while the tribulation clouds overhead only thickened. The next bolt would definitely be stronger, and Evan Lin could only wait for it to strike before stepping in to help.

Time ticked by. After more than an hour, the next bolt finally crashed down. By now, Evan Lin was drenched in sweat. This lightning was blue, and the Frostbane Sword’s sword-light was already very weak—it couldn’t scatter the bolt this time. The blue lightning wrapped around the sword completely.

Next thing they knew, the Frostbane Sword plummeted straight to the ground, vanishing into the earth. Evan Lin flashed down after it, using Earthshift to dive rapidly into the soil.

He finally found the Frostbane Sword a thousand meters underground. Its blade had lost all its shine; it was pitch-black and scorching hot, looking for all the world like a ruined sword.

But as soon as Evan Lin grabbed the hilt, it felt so familiar—like the Frostbane Sword had always belonged to him. This feeling was completely different from before. Now, it was as if the sword was alive; he could sense it trembling ever so slightly in his grip.

But Evan Lin knew this wasn’t some ruined sword—it was a peerless divine weapon, rare in all the world. He shot out of the earth and soared back into the sky, just as the tribulation clouds overhead readied the fifth bolt...
