The Farmer and the Serpent

Cyrus Xi had left, but Joe Di did not depart immediately. Instead, he stood beneath the Oath Platform.

Joe Di didn’t wait long before he saw Byron True, Quinn Yan, and a third person he had never met, all rapidly approaching the Oath Platform. Joe Di knew Byron True and Quinn Yan, but the third individual was unfamiliar. Yet, his speed was no less than theirs, marking him as another peerless powerhouse. Could this be The Forgotten One?

“Joe Di, you truly have guts.” Byron True halted when he saw Joe Di waiting beneath the Oath Platform, speaking with utmost seriousness.

If Byron True’s comment about Joe Di having guts back in Genesis City was meant as mockery, now it was genuine admiration.

He knew very well that Joe Di’s strength was no less than any of theirs. In a one-on-one fight, Byron True himself might not be Joe Di’s match. But if he and Quinn Yan worked together, Joe Di would gain no advantage. With countless cultivators rushing here, Joe Di still dared to wait—what else could that be but true courage?

Joe Di ignored Byron True and instead turned to the unfamiliar, stout scholar. “You’re a new face. Mind telling me your name?”

Joe Di couldn’t help but gossip inwardly—was this guy really The Forgotten One? If so, had he been abandoned by a woman?

“Vincent Wen of the Celestial Vine Pool. Thanks to you, my Celestial Vine Pool was destroyed, and my cultivation abode as well.” Vincent Wen’s tone was calm, but his killing intent was completely unconcealed.

Byron True and Quinn Yan respected Joe Di’s strength, but Vincent Wen couldn’t care less who Joe Di was.

“Vincent Wen? Never heard of you.” Joe Di shook his head.

Vincent Wen said coldly, "I don't care what you've heard about me. You destroyed my Sky Ascension Pool, and you'll pay for it with your life."

As he spoke, Vincent Wen stepped forward, and a Skyhalberd appeared in his hand. The weapon radiated waves of murderous Dao resonance, and its length was three or four times Vincent Wen's own height.

Joe Di stared blankly at the Skyhalberd in Vincent Wen’s hand for a long moment before saying, "Vincent Wen, with your stature wielding such a massive halberd, don’t you look like a dwarf riding a giant horse—awkward both above and below?"

"Brother Wen, wait a moment..." Byron True knew Joe Di was trying to provoke Vincent Wen and quickly tried to stop him. He knew better than anyone how powerful Joe Di truly was.

"Courting death." Vincent Wen paid Joe Di no mind. The Skyhalberd swept up a storm of halberd light, its endless polearm laws compressing the surrounding space as if ready to shatter it.

At that moment, even Byron True and Quinn Yan, though not the direct targets, found it hard to breathe.

Byron True and Quinn Yan exchanged glances, but said nothing more. Vincent Wen’s strength was overwhelming—clearly surpassing their own.

Joe Di sneered. He had no intention of leaving the Oath Platform to fight Vincent Wen head-on. He wasn’t here to show off his power—he was here to make a profit. Otherwise, he would have left long ago.

Boom! The halberd light swept toward Joe Di, tearing through fragments of law and collapsing the void like a rabid dog lunging to devour him.

"Joe Di, I know you're from beyond the Chaos Gate. Rest assured, I'll spare your life—so you can watch everyone around you die, one by one, before your eyes..."

Originally, Joe Di only wanted Vincent Wen to swear an oath and leave. But now, his killing intent ignited like dry tinder catching flame.

He couldn't be bothered with words. He summoned the Worldcleaver Brush, and with a wave, painted a massive 'Realm' character in the void. He didn't even bother to draw on the Oath Platform's power—he intended to kill Vincent Wen with his own hands.

The 'Realm' character took shape, and in an instant, it seemed to conjure a universe domain before Vincent Wen. One word shattered ten thousand laws—realm divides yin and yang! Endless fragments of halberd light and collapsing void were blocked by the 'Realm' character, the halberd light exploding, law fragments scattering everywhere.

Joe Di charged off the Oath Platform, the Worldcleaver Brush sketching Dao resonance into a longbow in the void. In the next moment, the laws condensed into a single long arrow.

Arrow on the bowstring, the longbow drawn to its fullest!

Vincent Wen’s storm of divine arts was blocked by Joe Di’s 'Realm'. Furious, he hadn’t even unleashed his second technique when he felt a chill—before his eyes appeared a long arrow overflowing with killing intent!

Joe Di fixed his gaze on Vincent Wen, Dao resonance filling both hands. He seemed to merge with the drawn bow, becoming one with the endless void, his killing intent locking onto Vincent Wen.

In that instant, all vitality seemed to vanish from the void. The years within the void began to blur, and memories from Vincent Wen’s past flashed rapidly through his mind. Now, beneath the longbow’s aim, Vincent Wen was like a lamb—one reliving its life before death.

Two looms, weaving life and death, looking back, the bow is drawn north to shoot the Sirius.

This was a supreme time-space divine art! Vincent Wen broke out in a cold sweat, as if doused in ice water. He could only desperately use forbidden techniques to break free from this frozen time-space—he had to dodge before the arrow was loosed...

Whoosh! The sound of the bowstring sliced through the void. Vincent Wen frantically burned his essence blood, and Joe Di—having already loosed the arrow of ages—was shocked to see Vincent Wen shift ever so slightly under its lock.

Bang! The long arrow pierced Vincent Wen’s right chest, and the void seemed to erupt in a splash of crimson ink, spreading in an instant.

Though Vincent Wen survived, he immediately felt a powerful Dao resonance devouring his vitality, his body’s resonance thrown into chaos.

All hatred forgotten, Vincent Wen turned and fled without hesitation. If he didn’t escape now, he was certain he’d die at Joe Di’s hand.

He had never imagined Joe Di could be so formidable. Yet neither Byron True nor Quinn Yan had ever warned him.

Trying to run? Joe Di summoned the Realm Refining technique, but before he could give chase, Byron True and Quinn Yan blocked his path.

Though they weren’t friends with Vincent Wen, they absolutely could not allow Joe Di to kill him.

Joe Di seethed with anger. Byron True and Quinn Yan were courting death. They probably didn’t know what contingency he’d left here. He hoped that once they faced the Oath Platform, they’d still dare to speak to him this way.

Bang! The just-escaped Vincent Wen was kicked back like a rag sack, landing only a dozen meters from Joe Di.

Even Byron True and Quinn Yan turned in shock. Vincent Wen was badly wounded. But even so, he was the master of the Sky Ascension Pool. Who could be so powerful—and so bold—as to attack Vincent Wen?

"You?" Vincent Wen looked at the person who had kicked him back, disbelief in his eyes. His body was drenched in blood, his Dao resonance shattering constantly thanks to Joe Di’s arrow.

The newcomer was a woman of breathtaking beauty, standing barefoot in the void, making the entire realm pale in comparison.

"Kiana Yin, you’re still alive?" Vincent Wen’s hand trembled. He knew well how ruthless Kiana Yin could be—her cruelty matched her beauty. How did the Nineteen Slaughters die back then? He regretted not killing Kiana Yin outright, but instead imprisoning her in the Endless Icefield to perish.

"So it’s Fairy Yin. Long time no see," Byron True and Quinn Yan both cupped their fists to her, clearly recognizing this peerless woman.

Joe Di recognized her too—she was the woman he’d rescued from the Endless Icefield, named Kiana Yin.

Kiana Yin ignored Byron True and Quinn Yan, turning to Joe Di. "So now I know your name is Joe Di. I never expected you to tear apart the Chaotic Continent’s array core, leaving me without a home for cultivation. Though I’m grateful you saved me, you also destroyed my place of survival, so I still have a score to settle. Don’t worry, I won’t kill you. But in exchange for your life, you must hand over your soul imprint."

Joe Di sneered inwardly. He’d seen the farmer and snake story many times before, and didn’t mind one more.
