The Strange Master Xu

12/2/2025

That's true enough, but even if someone could obtain it, it certainly wouldn't be Master Xu. It seems he must have gotten it from someone else.

But would the person who got the Celestial Aroma really sell it so easily? After all the trouble of acquiring it from Sainton Kingdom, was it just for profit? While it's possible there are such eccentric people, there can't be many, and what are the odds we'd encounter one right now?

Quentin Hua narrowed his eyes slightly, watching Master Xu on stage with a lazy gaze. He was certain something was off about this, and decided to wait and see.

Nathan Saint didn’t bother figuring out who got the Celestial Aroma from Sainton Kingdom. He just smiled and said, “Celestial Aroma truly is a treasure—it can enhance martial power, and it’s the dream of everyone in the martial world. Its effects are far better than other medicines, and even ordinary people benefit, since it prolongs life. Who wouldn’t want to live longer? Looks like this matchmaking tournament is going to be fierce!” As he spoke, his tone hinted at amusement, clearly eager to watch the drama unfold.

Roxy Shangguan stroked her chin and nodded, "It really is a wonderful thing!"

Nathan Saint smiled at her and asked, "Do you want it?"

At his words, Roxy Shangguan suddenly looked at Sylas Ren, her smile adorably mischievous. Sylas felt a sudden sense of dread, his hair standing on end.

Sure enough, the next moment Roxy’s soft and sweet voice rang out, "Sylas Ren, just be Master Xu’s son-in-law for once! Once you get the Celestial Aroma, I promise Quentin will rescue you in time!"

Sylas Ren jumped up and protested angrily, "Why should I go? Why not let Quentin go instead?"

Roxy gave him a look as if he were an idiot and said matter-of-factly, "Because you’re still single! Quentin has me! Besides, I’m doing this for your own good! You’re not getting any younger—maybe Miss Xu will be just your type!"

Sylas Ren nearly choked with outrage. That little devil! She was clearly using him, yet she claimed it was for his own good? Absolutely shameless!

Nathan Saint glanced at Roxy Shangguan, not at all surprised. Maybe he'd already figured out the relationship between Quentin Hua and Roxy from watching them together.

Seeing the lazy smile on Quentin Hua’s face, Sylas Ren felt even more nauseated. He regretted everything! Why had he gotten involved with these two? Why did he ever help deliver messages for the Hua family?

Faced with Roxy’s adorable smile, Sylas Ren sat down in defeat, his face full of gloom. He had no backbone left—he’d just accepted his fate!

Roxy Shangguan nodded in satisfaction, picked up a plate of candied fruit prepared by the Xu Family, and handed it to him.

If you ever wondered what it meant to hit someone and then give them a sweet date—this was it!

Sylas Ren snatched them up, grumpily tossed two into his mouth, then frowned and gulped down his tea. He always saw Roxy eat these so happily that he assumed they must be delicious, but honestly, he couldn’t handle the sugary sweetness!

Just as he was lamenting his rotten luck—choking on water, even—someone placed a small table in front of him, complete with brush, ink, paper, and inkstone.

Seeing his bewildered expression, Roxy rolled her eyes and said, "Write a prescription!"

Watching everyone around him pick up their brushes and start writing furiously, Sylas Ren grimaced and said bitterly, "Little ancestor, I don’t know anything about medicine!"

Nathan Saint stood nearby, just as motionless—he didn’t know anything about medicine either.

The first test was simple: a basic prescription that anyone with medical training could write. The point was to weed out those just pretending to know their stuff.

Roxy Shangguan looked at him with a 'why are you so hopeless?' expression and said, "I’ll tell you what to write!"

"You’ll tell me?" Sylas Ren’s eyes widened in shock. "You know medicine? Seriously—how is that even possible?"

She’s only two years old, right? Right? So how does she know so much?

Quentin Hua raised his brows, clearly surprised—but only for a moment. To him, Roxy knowing anything was normal, because Roxy was never normal. In fact, if she suddenly acted normal, that would be abnormal. After all, what two-year-old knows how to tease handsome men?

Honestly, he admired himself for not being confused by what counted as normal or abnormal anymore.

After the surprise faded, Sylas Ren obediently picked up the brush. Roxy was about to speak when she suddenly looked in another direction, frowning.

Sylas Ren followed her gaze. In the corner sat a strikingly handsome man in red, holding a folding fan and swaying a sheet of paper—the prescription he’d already written. He muttered something impatiently as he waved his fan.

Judging by his lips, Sylas Ren figured out what he said: "This childish stuff is just a waste of my time!" Realizing this, Sylas Ren couldn’t help but shake his head. "So he’s a narcissist!"

Quentin Hua noticed him too and raised an eyebrow. "What’s that guy doing here?"

Noticing their attention, the man looked up, then—completely ignoring the setting—leapt over, grabbed Roxy, planted a kiss on her cheek, and exclaimed, "Roxy, you’re getting cuter by the day!"

Quentin Hua’s face darkened. He glared at Maxwell Jing and gritted his teeth, "Maxwell Jing!" He snatched Roxy back, wiping her cheek as if to remove Maxwell’s slobber.

"Tsk tsk…" Maxwell Jing was about to say something when a maid came to collect the prescriptions. She looked displeased, clearly thinking Maxwell’s behavior was disrespectful to her master.

Unbothered, Maxwell Jing flashed her a smile. Instantly, her face turned red as she quickly took his prescription and hurried away.

Only then did Maxwell Jing turn to Quentin Hua and grin, "Quentin, must you be so petty? Roxy calls me uncle, so what’s wrong with a little kiss?"
