A Plant That Can Run Away

1/11/2026

Ian Song's Clairvoyant Vision pierced through obstacles with ease. Soon, he spotted a nearly withered tree about five hundred meters away—its trunk as thick as a water barrel. Strangely, growing from the center of the trunk was a plant roughly forty centimeters tall.

Its leaves were a vivid, almost dripping green, bursting with vitality—a stark contrast to the dying tree.

There weren’t many leaves, only thirty-nine in total. The plant had three branches, and each branch bore a thumb-sized, bright red fruit that looked ready to burst with juice.

The intoxicating fragrance in the air was coming from those three fruits.

"Over there. I’ll go check it out." Ian tapped his right foot lightly on the ground, his figure shooting into the air and then turning into a blur as he sped straight for the plant.

"That guy wants to hog the spirit medicine for himself! Hurry, let’s follow him!"

Lilian Yue called out and dashed after Ian, but her movement technique was much clumsier compared to his.

Soon, Ian reached the base of the tree, where the rich fragrance was even stronger.

With each breath, his true essence almost started to boil inside him.

"What is this?"

Lilian Yue and Grace Jing arrived one after another.

Ian shook his head and looked at Grace Jing, asking, "Do you know what it is?"

Grace Jing thought for a moment and said, "I don’t know either. But just from the fragrance, I can feel my true qi circulating faster, so I judge this must be a legendary spirit medicine!"

I’ll dig it out!

Lilian Yue volunteered, and as she spoke, she tapped her feet lightly on the tree trunk and quickly rose toward the plant.

Ian saw this and didn’t stop her, knowing in his heart that this girl was worried he’d hog the spirit medicine. Actually, even if he wanted to, she couldn’t do anything about it.

She quickly approached the plant, and just as she swung her dagger to dig it out of the trunk, the plant’s leaves trembled, releasing an even richer fragrance that made her feel intoxicated.

As soon as Lilian Yue smelled this fragrance, she became completely intoxicated. She could swear she’d never smelled anything so wonderful.

Suddenly, she felt her arms and legs go weak, unable to muster any strength, and immediately began to fall from the tree.

Ah! Help!

Lilian Yue screamed as she plummeted from seven or eight meters up.

Ian glanced at Grace Jing, who didn’t have a chance to react and save her, while Queenie was frozen in shock. Left with no other choice, he leapt up and caught Lilian Yue.

After landing with Lilian Yue in his arms, Ian noticed her face was a little off. He frowned and asked, "How could a peak-Postnatal expert fall from a tree?"

"Put... put me down!" Lilian Yue’s face turned even redder, her voice full of anger and embarrassment.

Ian finally realized his hand was under her butt. Hm, not a bad feeling.

He quickly set her down and asked, "Are you okay?"

Hmph!

Lilian Yue glared angrily at Ian.

"Yuelian, don’t be rude. If Ian hadn’t saved you, you would’ve hit the ground."

"Martial Aunt, I...!"

"Enough!" Grace Jing waved her hand. She’d seen Ian’s hand on Lilian Yue’s butt just now, but since Ian was her master, she naturally had to stand up for him. She asked sternly, "What happened to you? How did you fall?"

Hearing her Martial Aunt’s question, Lilian Yue lowered her head in thought. After a moment, she hesitated and said, "This plant is really strange. Just as I was about to dig it out, I smelled a special fragrance. It was amazing, but then all my strength suddenly vanished and I fell!"

The three of them found Lilian Yue’s story strange and unsettling.

"Let me give it a try!"

Grace Jing lightly tapped her right foot on the ground, then her body rose smoothly like an elevator. She reached the plant, wrapped one hand around the trunk, and held a dagger in the other.

At that moment, the plant’s leaves trembled again, and a wave of strange fragrance washed over her.

Grace Jing cursed inwardly and immediately stopped breathing. Even so, she felt seventy or eighty percent of her strength drain away. If not for Lilian Yue’s example, she might have fallen from the tree too.

She steadied herself, then dug at the plant’s roots with her dagger.

But just then, a flash of green light—the plant suddenly shot away with a whoosh.

"A flying plant?"

Ian, who had been watching the whole time, was stunned. He quickly activated Clairvoyant Vision and saw the plant had flown 500 meters away, taking root in another tree.

"How... how can it fly?"

Lilian Yue and Queenie were both dumbfounded as they watched the plant fly away.

Grace Jing floated down from the tree and said to Ian, "Ian, that plant seems to have intelligence. Just as I was about to dig it out, it released a strange fragrance that can make people lose their strength for a short time. If I’m not mistaken, this must be a once-in-a-millennium legendary spirit medicine!"

"Could it be a plant spirit? When I was little, the elders said that sentient ginseng would escape underground when someone tried to dig them up!" Queenie interjected.

"That’s possible! Let’s chase it—it’s only 500 meters away!"

Ian leapt into the air again and, after a few flashes, arrived under the tree where the plant had taken root.

Grace Jing and Queenie arrived a moment later.

"Ian, you try this time, but be careful—don’t breathe in that scent!" Grace Jing handed a dagger to Ian.

"Alright!"

Ian grabbed the dagger and shot up like an arrow, gripping the trunk with his legs, one hand reaching for the plant, the other digging at its roots with the dagger.

Whoosh!

Ian’s hand caught nothing—the plant disappeared again.

It really is intelligent! This must be an incredible spirit medicine!

Ian exclaimed, and with Clairvoyant Vision, saw the plant had moved to a tree 800 meters away.

Oh no, it got away again!

Queenie said, disappointed.

"You two head back, I’ll chase it!"

Ian shouted, then dashed in the direction of the plant.

Once under the tree, Ian didn’t immediately climb up, but paused in thought. The plant escaped so quickly, he needed a way to keep it from running.

Got it!

A flash of inspiration struck Ian.

He leapt into the air and activated Gravity Domain.

With Gravity Domain active, the gravity field around Ian warped instantly. Smiling, he reached for the plant.

Whoosh!

A flash of green light—the plant escaped again. Even Gravity Domain couldn’t affect it.

Damn! Even Gravity Domain can’t stop it! Ian was shocked.
