Damn!
Epic!
Mad Dog swept his eyes over Selina Shi, his heart skipping a beat, feeling hyped. He turned to Dog: "Is it her?"
"Yeah! That's her!"
Dog, seeing Selina again, immediately confirmed it.
Mad Dog stood where he was, didn't rush over. He fixed his hair, cleared his throat, and swaggered right over.
Over there.
Allen Ju and Warren Wu sat in their chairs, silent.
Hank Chu and Ken instinctively kept quiet, perfectly in sync. They looked at Evan Lin, eyes filled with pure admiration.
"Are you eating or not?" Selina Shi frowned, her gaze locked on Evan Lin, eyes cold and a little annoyed.
"Depends on my mood." Evan's answer left everyone around feeling a bit helpless.
Instead of getting annoyed at Evan's answer, Allen Ju and Warren Wu just looked a little smug, almost enjoying Selina's setback.
Seemed like this was the first time Selina had ever been shut down like that.
Mad Dog led his crew over, glanced at the standoff between Evan and Selina, coughed, and called out coldly, "Hey, you the one who just hit my brother?"
Mad Dog tried to make his voice sound tough, but his Mandarin was so clumsy and thick with local dialect, it just sounded kind of funny.
Selina frowned at Mad Dog's voice, turned her head, glanced at him and his nine underlings, and said flatly, "Scram."
Selina's voice was clear and direct. Mad Dog froze for a second, then his face darkened. Before he could speak, Dog jumped up and shouted: "How dare you talk to Mad Dog like that! Are you looking to die? Don't you know Mad Dog is the top dog in Whitewood!"
Mad Dog was clearly enjoying Dog's words. He jerked his head and bragged, "People call me Mad Dog because when I go crazy, I even hit myself! Listen, I don't hit women, but you hit my brother, so don't think you're getting off easy!"
If I don't stand up for my brothers, the crew will fall apart.
Mad Dog kept rambling on. Selina glanced at Warren Wu and asked, "Why are you still sitting?"
After all his bluster, Mad Dog realized the pretty girl in front of him hadn't listened to a word. His face turned sour, but before he could say anything, Selina tilted her head and suddenly spoke.
Warren Wu laughed, cracked his knuckles, and said, "I was saving it for you to vent, but if you don't want it, I'll take it myself."
Damn, this tiny Whitewood County is suffocating me. It's been ages since I had a good fight—can't even find a decent punching bag!
Warren Wu stood up, tall and burly. He looked at Mad Dog's crew with excitement gleaming in his eyes—no fear at all, just pure thrill.
What do you want? There's so many of us—believe it or not, we'll beat you so hard even your mom won't recognize you!' Mad Dog shouted, but seeing Warren Wu's size, he was clearly intimidated.
His underlings, holding steel pipes and bricks, dressed in baggy t-shirts—classic wannabe thug uniforms.
Big talk, huh? Come on then!
Warren Wu laughed and charged forward like a wolf into a flock of sheep. In seconds, with screams and chaos everywhere, Mad Dog and his crew were all on the floor, bruised and howling.
Hank Chu and Ken were stunned—one guy taking down ten, it was like a movie. But to Allen Ju and Selina Shi, this was just business as usual.
Awesome!
Warren Wu looked completely satisfied after the fight.
Just then, Evan Lin's phone rang—it was Joy Zheng. Evan answered, grunted a few times, hung up, and told Hank Chu and Ken, "My mom says you two should come over for lunch. Let's go, it's getting late."
Sure!
Ken, who'd been feeling nervous, quickly nodded in agreement.
Evan got up, and Hank Chu and Ken hurried to follow.
I lost a match, so I owe you a meal. Like it or not, you're eating—otherwise I'd be breaking my word.' Selina blocked Evan as he tried to leave, frowning stubbornly.
She was mostly just curious about this boy—maybe a little fond, but not much.
Still, as Selina said, she lost a match, so she had to keep her promise. It was a matter of principle. But she never imagined someone would actually turn down her invitation.
Back in the day, if Selina so much as crooked her finger, boys would line up for a meal with her—from the cafeteria all the way to the schoolyard.
But thanks to Warren Wu and Allen Ju, most guys with a crush on Selina gave up. Warren's size and fighting skills were way above the norm—just standing there, he radiated intimidation.
Maybe some other time,' Evan said coolly, then left with Hank Chu and Ken.
Once Evan left, Selina's frown finally eased a little.
Allen Ju rubbed his temples, glanced in Evan's direction, and chuckled: "Who knew a tiny town like this would have someone this interesting? Not bad, a little surprise."
That kid acts totally fearless—pretty gutsy.' Warren Wu leaned on the desk and asked Jason Jiang, who'd been quiet: 'Hey, you know this guy at all?
No idea. But if he's hanging out with Hank Chu, he probably doesn't have much background.' Jason Jiang hesitated, then asked, 'Want me to dig up some info on him?
Jason Jiang was curious about Evan too—after all, he'd had to kneel to Hank Chu because of him. No way he wasn't bothered by that.
No need for now. If we figure everything out too quickly, it's no fun.' Allen Ju stretched, looked at Selina, and teased, 'Can't stand losing, huh?
No wonder—you've only lost ten games in your whole life, and now Whitewood County turns out to be full of hidden masters.
Selina yawned. "Come on, it's still just a tiny town."
You think a small town can raise a dragon?
Selina rolled her eyes and waved. "Let's go, I'm starving. I want meat for lunch—lots of it! And you two are treating!"
