Really Thinks He's Important

Zhang Zhuzi, looking smug and self-satisfied, put his hands on his hips and loudly declared, "Listen up, everyone! I, Zhang Zhuzi, am your village chief! From now on, when you see me, remember that I am the official, and you are the common folk. You all must show me respect! Otherwise, hmph!"

Zhang Zhuzi narrowed his eyes threateningly, but the villagers whispering among themselves dared not speak out in protest.

After all, Zhang Zhuzi had officially taken office as village chief, and since he hadn’t done anything wrong yet, it wouldn’t be easy to get him removed.

Zhang Zhuzi had always been looked down upon by others. Many villagers despised him, ignoring him completely and speaking to him with disdain whenever they met.

But now, Zhang Zhuzi realized that those very villagers who once looked down on him now looked at him with fear in their eyes, one by one.

This fear made Zhang Zhuzi feel incredibly pleased, his ego swelling so much he felt like he could float to the sky. He felt like a tyrant in the village, and everyone had to obey him, or else he’d punish them.

Zhang Zhuzi suddenly got cocky, clearing his throat twice on stage and mimicking an official’s tone: "Ahem, ahem, everyone listen up. I am Zhang, the village chief of Haizi Village. Su Li, who gave you permission to set up this school? Did you ask me first?"

Su Li, hearing herself being called out, frowned and said coldly, "I set up this school for the village. Why do I need to ask you?"

Zhang Zhuzi sneered proudly, "I’m the village chief now. Do you know what that means? It means I’m in charge of you villagers! If you want to run a school on my turf, you need my permission."

Su Li scoffed inwardly, thinking, "Such a small village chief really thinks he’s something special!"

Seeing Su Li’s contemptuous expression, Zhang Zhuzi immediately got angry and shouted, "How dare you, insolent commoner! To look down on your village chief like this! I hereby declare that this school is not allowed to open. Shut it down immediately!"

As soon as Zhang Zhuzi finished speaking, there was an uproar among the crowd below the stage.

Qin Sanniang put her hands on her hips and said clearly, "Did you all hear that? Our village chief Zhang said the school won’t open. Everyone, disperse and go home!"

Su Li, hearing the school was to be shut down, got anxious. She lifted her skirt and climbed onto the stage, glaring at the two smug men, shouting, "This school was funded by me! Who are you to say it can't open? You think just because you're village chief, you can act like a tyrant?"

Zhang Zhuzi proudly crossed his arms and said, "So what? I am the tyrant now. Don’t like it? Believe me, I’ll assign labor to your family right now— you and your mother can go dig coal as laborers!"

Qin Sanniang stepped back behind Zhang Zhuzi, proudly looking at Su Li and said, "Su Li, do you think you still have Zhang Mu as village chief backing you? Wake up! Now our Zhuzi is the village chief! Since ancient times, commoners don’t fight officials. Even if you have some money, what of it? Zhuzi is the village official, dealing with you is like a game to him."

Zhang Zhuzi smugly said, "Su Li, be sensible and close this school. Tsk, this school building is quite nice. Leaving it empty is a waste. I’m going to requisition it as my office from now on."

Qin Sanniang immediately beamed with joy and said, "Zhuzi, well done! This building is so well-built. You can work in the front office, and I’ll live in the backyard!"
