Lord Hades: "...You have the wrong person."

"I've seen you before!" Lily Bai said. "In the Southern Realm, I saw you!"

Lord Hades: "..."

"You're a main god, equal to the Three Divine Lords! Why are you helping the Demon Emperor?" Lily Bai asked in disbelief.

"I owed him a favor," Lord Hades said awkwardly. "Just repaying a debt!"

"I never thought the main god we worshipped so devoutly would actually help the wicked and slaughter the innocent!" Lily Bai said angrily.

Lord Hades looked at the person before him, then recalled the bright, teasing girl from a hundred years ago, hands behind her back, holding a candy, grinning mischievously as she told him: "Ian Yan, you should really change your name! It sounds just like 'drowning'—how unlucky is that!"

"Just call yourself Ian Cai, or maybe Ian Rou!"

"Because those sound like 'pickled veggies' or 'cured meat,' which totally fits your dark Underworld vibe!"

......

Lord Hades suddenly smiled.

Lily Bai gritted her teeth and asked, "Is it that funny?"

"Not funny, not funny. You two pick a pit," Lord Hades said, pointing around them.

"This one will do." Damian Black reached out to pull Lily Bai.

But Lily Bai suddenly dropped to her knees before Lord Hades, grabbing his robe: "Lord Hades! Please save me! I don't want to die!"

Lord Hades looked at her in surprise, then glanced at Damian Black, sending a voice transmission: "What's going on?"

"I didn't tell her. She thinks I'm about to obliterate her soul," Damian Black said.

Lord Hades's face twitched as he looked at Lily Bai.

"You're the lord of judgment, right? Can you check if I've ever done anything truly evil in my life?" Lily Bai pleaded again.

"Alright... let me see." Lord Hades cast a spell, touching Lily Bai's forehead. After checking, he said, "Hmm... you really are a model of righteousness!"

"So, are you really going to help the Demon Emperor kill me?" Lily Bai asked. "Wouldn't that bring Heaven's Dao backlash onto you?"

"Hmm... it does seem like it would," Lord Hades said, looking troubled. "But I really do owe him a favor. What should I do?"

"Please save me! You're a main god I really admire!" Lily Bai begged him.

"Hmm..." Lord Hades said. "I owe a debt, but I don't want Heaven's Dao backlash. So, here's what we'll do!"

Both of them looked at him.

One was full of hope.

The other was expressionless.

"Let's set a time limit," Lord Hades said. "One hour! You go down for one hour, and if you come back alive, Your Majesty the Demon Emperor, you have to let her go. Deal?"

Lily Bai looked at Damian Black.

Damian Black nodded. "Alright. Lily Bai, for Lord Hades's sake, if you can last an hour in the Hell of Blazing Flames, I'll let you go."

Lily Bai: "..."

She had no idea what spending an hour in there would actually mean.

Just then, Lord Hades's voice sounded in her mind: "Say yes! There's a summoning spell carved on the wall down there—only Rune Masters like you can see it. If you learn it, you'll get a surprise!"

Was Lord Hades trying to save her?

Lily Bai kept a straight face and agreed, "Alright! Demon Emperor, you better keep your word!"

Damian Black nodded. "Of course."

He unsealed Lily Bai's spiritual power, then tossed her into the flames.

Lily Bai quickly cast protective spells around herself.

As an upper-immortal, she can keep her physical body intact in ordinary fire.

Of course, if it's divine fire, she wouldn't stand a chance.

But this hellfire could burn away even souls, and to her, it's scarier than divine fire itself.
