Taking Over

12/15/2025

"I won't be coming out of the Dream Realm for a while. Please keep an eye on this little girl for me."

Ouyang Meng's words still echoed in my mind as I quietly watched Entity 001 and Vivian Ouyang enter a jewelry shop. Agent Seven and I followed behind them, but instead of going inside, we waited silently outside.

The Earthly Soul has completely vanished without a trace; I have no idea what it's doing now—there isn't the slightest hint of its presence. In just a few days, the two girls had become inseparable friends. Vivian Ouyang didn't go back—I asked her to stay, since Ouyang Meng probably won't return anytime soon.

I've also told Vivian Ouyang not to go back for now. The situation is far too chaotic, and I want to prevent anyone with malicious intent from making a move.

Watching the two girls so happy, I decided to visit a certain place today. I can't afford to wait any longer—I need to find Samuel Young in advance. I know where he lives, and he should be willing to help me. I want to make a trip to the Yang Realm, to check on the situation over there.

Last time, Elder Peach sent us to the Yang Realm, but now Elder Peach's fate is unknown—he must still be lost in that darkness. My only option is to find the Taoist sect members. The Four Sacred Realm has now descended directly into the River of the Dead, and its inhabitants have gained far greater power than before.

Now, reaching the Yang Realm is nearly impossible through the Four Sacred Realm, because they've closed off the entrance and severed all contact with the Yang Realm.

It's understandable, since the curse power from the Yang Realm could easily spread to the living world. If those curses did spread, the entire world of the living would face utter catastrophe.

Now, my only option is to use the formation Ethan Zhang used before. Although Elder Peach was the one who broke and operated the formation, I'm certain the other Taoist sect members will find out soon enough.

"Aren't you two coming in?"

Entity 001 turned to look at us. I gave a helpless smile. After they'd finished picking out jewelry, we found a nice little restaurant near the College District and had lunch.

Afterward, we got into Ouyang Meng's car and headed for the northwest side of town. I still remembered that's where Samuel Young lives.

Traffic wasn't great along the way, and the car moved slowly. Vivian Ouyang glared with frustration at the distant traffic lights.

"It would be so much easier if you just flew us straight there."

I could only smile helplessly.

"Sister Wei, I think you're really cool—like you have a man's charisma."

Out of nowhere, Entity 001 muttered this. Vivian Ouyang laughed and kissed 001 on the lips, surprising Agent Seven beside them.

"Let's just take our time. I'm not in a hurry—moving slowly like this is pretty nice."

I've never really lived a normal life in the world of the living until now. This kind of life actually feels pretty good.

So the car crawled along, stopping and starting, and it was almost 5 p.m. when we finally reached the neighborhood where Samuel Young lives. Using Ethan Zhang's memories, I quickly found the Hidden Courtyard between two small buildings. I quietly observed the Hidden Courtyard—it was invisible to ordinary people, a space created by practitioners. The land of the living world is merely its vessel.

Unless the master of the space invites you in, you can't enter except by force. There are plenty of places like this in the world of the living—many old practitioners from the supernatural world live in self-made spaces, hidden from ordinary affairs.

I remembered when Ethan Zhang and Rufina Howard went searching for Awakening Water, and met an old man living in a courtyard.

These people have lived for countless years—their hearts as calm as nature itself, without desire, simply living each day.

"Huh? Why is there nothing here?"

Entity 001 stepped into the Hidden Courtyard, but couldn't see anything. Spaces like this usually have confusing spells—though it looks empty, some people sense someone lives here, but can't quite remember who. You might see houses, but the impression is vague; it's strange. Only I can see clearly, and under my power, they all see the emptiness too.

"Samuel Young, are you there?"

I called out, and with a whoosh, mist swirled around us. Suddenly, a quaint little house appeared behind a picket fence, and Samuel Young, dressed in white, stood before Entity 001.

"Sorry, little one. Didn't mean to scare you."

Entity 001 was so startled she couldn't speak for a long moment, mouth agape.

"Everyone, please come in."

Agent Seven looked a bit surprised too. We entered through the gate—on the left were vegetable gardens, carefully tended, and on the right, flowerbeds. Everything was arranged with care. In front stood a three-story house draped in white gauze on all sides, with no walls. The second floor was a study, and the third was Samuel Young's resting place.

Once inside, Samuel Young hurried to fetch a small kettle, drew water from a nearby well, and set the blackened kettle on the stove.

"I didn't expect you all to visit today. What brings you here?"

"I want to take a look at the Yang Realm."

Samuel Young hesitated, then smiled and sat down. Vivian Ouyang and Entity 001 wandered restlessly into the yard, clearly enjoying the serene, otherworldly atmosphere.

Heavenly Soul, whether that world still exists is uncertain. Although all eight of us obtained the formation from Elder Peach and know how to use it, none of us have tried. We've heard that world was destroyed by curses—confirmed by the River of the Dead's people and spoken by the Four Sacred themselves. So that world probably no longer exists.

I nodded.

"I still want to try and see if I can get in."

Samuel Young looked at me with confusion, then glanced at Entity 001 in the yard and Agent Seven beside me.
