The Demon King Is Having His Fortune Told
"So... what should we do now?" Marcus White asked.
Lily Bai tucked everything into her Storage Pouch and said, "Leave it to me! I'll handle it! Father Emperor, you can rest easy!"
Marcus White immediately looked much more energetic.
Clarissa Summers finally let out a sigh of relief, then remembered her son: "Lily, where's Little Shrimp? Where is he?"
Little Shrimp... Little Shrimp... Lily Bai plastered on an exaggerated smile to cover her guilt and said, "He went out... By some twist of fate, he ended up taking a master. He's with his teacher now!"
"Took a master?" Clarissa Summers asked in surprise. "Who did he apprentice under?"
"A super powerful High Lord!"
"High... High Lord? Which High Lord?"
"Hmm... His name is Lord Noctis."
Mother probably doesn't know him, right?
She probably doesn't know! She didn't even know before!
"Who did you say?" Clarissa Summers' voice cracked.
"Lord Noctis. He's seriously super powerful—Ah! Mother, what's wrong?"
Clarissa Summers collapsed straight backward, and Lily Bai darted forward to catch her.
Today, Empress Clarissa suffered two major scares in a row and finally couldn't take it anymore—she fainted.
Luckily, she only passed out for a short while before waking up, and as soon as she did, she shakily called out for Little Shrimp.
Little Shrimp answered right away, his voice soft and childish: "Mother!"
"Little Shrimp! Little Shrimp... Where are you right now?" Clarissa Summers was on the verge of tears.
"I'm at the Sigil Sect!" Bobby Bai replied.
"Huh?" Clarissa Summers sat up instantly. "Sigil Sect?"
"That's right, Mother!" His little mouth sounded like it was munching on snacks, a bit muffled. "Nine Li gave me lots of yummy treats! Hehe! I like it here."
"But... your... your... your master... where is he?"
"My master is at the Sigil Sect too!" Bobby Bai said. "I brought him here!"
"He... what is he doing at the Sigil Sect?"
"Getting his fortune told."
"Fortune told? The Demon King Noctis went to have his fortune told?!" Clarissa's voice cracked again.
"Yep! He likes a really beautiful big sister. But she won't marry him, so I brought him to consult Immortal Faustin to see how he can get her to agree to marry him."
Clarissa Summers was speechless for a long moment.
"Little Shrimp, are you really at the Sigil Sect?" Lily Bai took over the charm and asked.
"Yep! Really! If you don't believe me, just wait! Nine Li!" Bobby Bai called out.
Then they heard Nine Li's voice: "Little Shrimp! What's up?"
"Talk to my big sister."
"Big Sister!" Nine Li called.
"Nine Li, um... is that person really at the Sigil Sect?" Lily Bai asked.
"Yep! He's getting his fortune told by my master right now."
Lily Bai blinked a few times and said, "Nine Li, find a way to keep them at the Sigil Sect until I get back."
"Huh? How am I supposed to keep him here?"
"You're smart enough—you'll figure something out!" Lily Bai said. "That's it! Take good care of Little Shrimp for me."
She hung up the Messenger Charm and handed it back to Clarissa Summers.
Then, curiously, she asked, "Mother, you actually know about Lord Noctis?"
"I heard about him from the Clan Chief," Clarissa Summers said. "He's... the most powerful Demon King alive! How could you let Little Shrimp apprentice under him?"
"What's wrong with that? You said yourself he's the 'most' powerful!" Lily Bai said. "Being the most powerful means nobody dares bully him."
