Edge Like Starlight

"The Heaven-Slayer Earth-Shade Formation? In the end, it's just a minor array that gathers baleful qi. Such a thing dares to act arrogant?"

Evan Lin let out a cold snort and said lightly, "Break!"

As soon as Evan finished speaking, the rune pattern within the wall of fire was slowly pushed out by him.

Originally, the rune pattern was shining with golden light, but now it was covered in blazing flames. The fire clung to the pattern, slowly rotating and expanding, growing from palm-sized to as tall as a person in an instant.

The rune pattern collided with the sweeping yin wind and baleful qi; the golden flames soared even higher, and the surrounding air grew scorching and distorted.

Boom!

With a thunderous roar, the rune pattern, along with the entire ground, burst into flames!

"How is this possible!"

The Valley Master of Medicine King Valley stood atop the mountain, staring at the rolling flames below and feeling the scorching heat rising from the earth. His face changed dramatically.

Boom!

Before he could react, the blood-corpse head in his hand abruptly closed its eyes, clearly affected by the array and dragged down with it.

"Evan Nine Mysteries Lin!"

The Valley Master of Medicine King Valley squeezed these words out through gritted teeth, his eyes vicious as he stared at the youth standing amid the flames below, fists clenched tight.

Medicine King Valley was his life's work, once dominating all of Seacrest Prefecture—yet now, it was being overturned by a nobody who seemed to appear out of nowhere!

At this moment, the Heaven-Slayer Earth-Shade Formation was completely shattered by that bizarre rune pattern!

"I refuse to believe it—a mere boy, how could you possess such power? I will kill you, I must kill you!"

The Valley Master let out a furious howl, stomped the ground, and leapt into the air, transforming into a cold, white streak of light that shot straight toward Evan Lin at the foot of the mountain.

His momentum was unstoppable!

"As the Valley Master of Medicine King Valley, I stake my life on this—there's no way I can't kill you! Go to hell!"

In midair, the Valley Master rapidly formed a spell seal, his entire body like a comet crashing to earth. The moment he touched the flaming rune pattern, he forcefully shattered it!

"Courting death."

Evan Lin's expression was indifferent as he reached out his hand.

"Beyond the divine wind lies immortal ground. Between yin and yang, a finger forms the blade!"

Evan silently recited the incantation. True qi surged within his body, and within a twenty-meter radius centered on him, a violent wind erupted!

The fierce wind swept up flames, howling in the air.

Amid the crowd, the youth standing in the sea of fire suddenly had a four-foot-long sword appear in his palm!

The sword was nearly transparent, its edge as sharp as starlight!

Evan Lin held the sword in one hand, looking up slightly at the Valley Master of Medicine King Valley, who now seemed to burn like a blazing star as he rushed forward.

Just as the Valley Master crashed down, about to collide with Evan Lin—

Evan's figure shifted slightly, and the four-foot sword in his hand gently lifted.

A chill blade, sharp and biting!

The two brushed past each other. The Valley Master landed behind Evan Lin, while Evan merely lowered his gaze; the four-foot sword in his hand slowly faded away.

"You..."

The Valley Master had just uttered one word when his entire body suddenly toppled sideways, his gaze turning vacant. On his body, dozens of blade marks were shockingly visible!

The whole place fell silent!

Everyone stared at the youth standing in the center and the Valley Master lying on the ground—no one dared say a word.

Those Medicine King Valley disciples who usually looked down on everyone else were now trembling, walking on thin ice. Someone couldn't help glancing at where the Valley Master lay, only to see his face ashen, utterly lifeless.

"The Valley Master... is dead?"

Yuan Qianshu swallowed hard. Beside him, Yuan Hanyuan and Qu Yan stared in that direction, their faces deathly pale.

To them, the Valley Master had always been high and mighty, yet now he lay collapsed in the distance. And the Evan Lin whom Qu Yan had always thought of as a nobody was now standing there, surrounded by three female spirits, looking like a god descended to earth.

Nearby, the Azurefire Crimson Python had already died, its body crushed by the Soul-Locking Chain.

The whole Medicine King Valley, under the raging fire, was nothing but ruins as far as the eye could see.

Evan Lin swept his gaze around and spoke coldly: "If anyone is not convinced, step forward now."

As soon as he finished speaking, the remaining disciples of Medicine King Valley exchanged glances, then hurriedly knelt before Evan Lin, kowtowing: "Master, from today onward, Medicine King Valley acknowledges Master Evan Nine Mysteries Lin as our leader!"

"We acknowledge Master Lin as our leader!"

They shouted in unison. No one dared disobey; all pressed their foreheads to the ground, terrified of angering Evan Lin and provoking his killing intent.

Wu Baitian hurried forward, his face full of smiles. As he passed by the Valley Master's body, his eyes showed a hint of complicated emotion.

Back then, it was the Valley Master who had schemed against his wife, forcing Wu Baitian to personally feed her poison, costing her life.

"Master Lin, please come with me. Now that the Valley Master is dead, no one can stop you. I'll take you to the Pill Pavilion—the valley's entire stock of pills and spiritual herbs is there."

Wu Baitian looked at Evan Lin with deep respect in his eyes.

Evan Lin nodded slightly and followed Wu Baitian toward an eastern peak. Before long, they reached a row of dilapidated houses halfway up the mountain, each fitted with iron doors and bars, resembling a prison.

With a sidelong glance, Evan Lin saw in each room a number of pretty but frightened faces.

Seeing Evan Lin look that way, Wu Baitian hurriedly explained: "Everyone here was used by Medicine King Valley to refine human pills. They were all pill furnaces—once fed enough spiritual herbs, they'd be burned alive and subjected to various methods to make human pills. For experts below Vajra Realm and ordinary people, these pills are a tremendous tonic."

At this point, Wu Baitian's expression was clearly hesitant.

Though he loved wealth and putting on airs, Wu Baitian had always despised Medicine King Valley's practice of refining human pills—it went against all morals. He'd never had the power to change anything before, but now, glancing at Evan Lin, he hesitated before carefully saying: "Most of the people here were either caught or sent in by those wanting to trade for spiritual herbs. They're all pitiful, and most are young, never having done anything wrong. Master Lin, what do you think...?"

Wu Baitian watched Evan Lin, and seeing Evan glance back, felt his heart tighten a little.

Human pills were a fortune for ordinary people—not just money, but a way to build connections.

Those life-extending pills were far better than any so-called health supplement, and a single human pill could fetch hundreds of thousands, even millions, on the black market!

"Let them go."

Evan Lin spoke calmly. Hearing this, Wu Baitian relaxed, smiling as he quickly agreed.

He felt that Evan Nine Mysteries Lin was not the type to abandon morality for profit, making him much easier to get along with.

Among the women in those rows of houses, a beautiful girl of seventeen or eighteen gazed dazedly at the youth's departing figure.
