What Kind of Crazy Logic Is This

12/19/2025

"Guards!" Evan Xiao shouted.

"Yes, sir." Two guards walked in.

"Take Lily Bai away and interrogate her thoroughly—"

"General!" Grace panicked. "We're only halfway through the day! You didn't have any bloodshed this morning—maybe it'll happen this afternoon?"

Evan Xiao paused for a moment, then said, "Fine, we'll wait until midnight. If I haven't had your so-called 'bloodshed' by then, you're a spy in my manor and you'll face a full interrogation!"

With that, he strode away, cold and unyielding.

Grace nearly coughed up blood.

Actually, Evan Xiao was supposed to have a bloody disaster today.

But because she warned him, he came back perfectly fine.

And now, she's about to be tortured as a suspected spy!

What kind of messed-up logic is this?

If she really gets accused of being a spy...she'd honestly rather be beaten to death!

She could only hope he'd go out again this afternoon and get attacked...

Wait, is he even leaving the manor this afternoon?

Grace found Louis Lin and, without letting him know what was going on, tried to fish for information.

Louis Lin told her the general wasn't going out this afternoon; he'd be staying in the manor.

...

Ever since Grace arrived at the manor, it's been so peaceful that even the dogs haven't fought. If he doesn't go out, how is he supposed to have a bloody disaster?

What now?

What is she supposed to do about this 'bloody disaster' prediction?

Run away right now?

But she couldn't just give up!

If she couldn't regrow her spiritual root, she couldn't cultivate.

If she couldn't cultivate, how could she protect herself or her family?

Wendy Zhu was already in the palace as Empress.

The ones she'd be up against were the Emperor and Empress of the Blue Moon Kingdom!

She had to restore her spiritual root!

So... even if Evan Xiao wasn't destined for a bloody disaster, she'd just have to make one happen!

But... how could she make it happen? Grace rubbed her chin.

Hire someone to assassinate him?

Right now, the only people she could use were the two guards who came with her: Wang Dong and Tenner.

They might be spiritual practitioners, but they're only second rank. There's no way they could cause Evan Xiao any 'bloody disaster'—he could squash them with a finger...

Otherwise, maybe hire a killer?

But honestly, most of her past life was spent as a political hostage in the Vermilion Kingdom. She really didn't know the ins and outs of Blue Moon Kingdom.

So even if she had the money to hire a master, she wouldn't know where to find one!

And time was running out—there was only half a day left...

After thinking it over, she entered her own space and headed to the back of the six-story pagoda, into a dark corner.

In that corner, there was a formation: iron chains crisscrossed, covered in layers of yellow talisman paper.

This formation was called the Iron Armor Array, used specifically to imprison spirit beasts or criminals.

Inside her space, aside from her stash of medicinal pills, the Iron Armor Array for raising spirit beasts was the most valuable thing she had.

Inside the Iron Armor Array was a giant python, slick and black, with crimson rings circling its body.

Its body was as thick as a water barrel, covered in tough scales. The moment it saw her, its eyes flashed viciously and it went berserk, slamming into the array. Even as the talisman paper burned its scales, it didn't stop.

It must've been locked up for too long—its hatred for Grace had reached a whole new level. It looked like it wanted to tear her to shreds.

This was a Crimson Ring Snake, a spirit beast.

Its cultivation was on par with a ninth-rank spiritual practitioner—and it was highly venomous.

Back then, Grace had gone through hell to catch it in the Eastern Wilderness Forest, locking it up here just to harvest its venom for her alchemy.

This was it!

If Evan Xiao insisted on a 'bloody disaster' before he'd let her go, well, he couldn't blame her for what happened next!
