Chapter 569: Unrestrained
"Cough, cough..."
Anthus lay sprawled on the ground, coughing up blood again and again. Severely wounded, he had reverted to his human form. Blood streamed from wounds both large and small, making him look utterly wretched.
Damn it, I'm finished...
Right now, even moving a muscle was agonizing. At this rate, death seemed inevitable...
Yet, after more than ten seconds, Anthus realized that the man holding the staff hadn't approached him, nor had he attacked again...
Meanwhile, inside the barracks, Leon had already used his mana array armor to observe the Sky Rank Golem's confrontation with Anthus. A cold smirk curled at the corner of his mouth: "Lucky for you the Sky Rank Golem only activated its defense system..."
In fact, days earlier, Leon had sensed a powerful Sword Saint lurking near the camp. He instantly recognized him as the same Sword Saint who, disguised as a demon, tried to attack the camp not long ago—clearly someone from the Watson Family...
This relentless harassment had already worn Leon's patience thin...
Though the opponent was a terrifyingly strong high-level Sword Saint, to Leon now, he was hardly a threat. The freshly advanced Doombringer Staff in his hands, along with the repaired power system of the Sky Rank Golem, both boasted the strength of a Level Seven Title Archmage. Not to mention the Sky Rank Golem wielding the Doombringer Staff itself...
Even if the enemy were an eighth-level Title Archmage, the Sky Rank Golem could probably hold its own for a while.
Killing a seventh-level Sword Saint would be a trivial matter...
However, after thinking it through, Leon decided against killing that seventh-level Sword Saint. It simply wasn't worth it. After all, when it came time to explore the end of the River of Wailing, he'd still need the Watson Family's support.
After a while, Leon turned his attention back to the draft papers on the alchemy table, carefully examining the four diagrams for any overlooked details. Unconsciously, more than half an hour slipped by before footsteps sounded outside the barracks, and a figure hurriedly entered.
"Lord Larn, is something the matter?" Leon put down his drafts and turned to look at Larn Merlin, who had just entered the barracks.
"Archmage Leon, someone wishes to see you. He calls himself Reid Watson..."
"Reid Watson? Doesn't ring a bell..." Leon glanced at Larn Merlin and slowly shook his head. Aside from a handful of people, he barely knew anyone from the Watson Family.
"But... but..." Larn Merlin looked troubled. It was obvious the young mage didn't want to meet with Reid Watson.
"But what?"
"Reid Watson claims to be an Ancestral Grounds Councilor of the Watson Family. He doesn't look like he's lying..."
