Go Ahead and Make the Call

"Like I'd ever believe you!"

Hugh Hu took two hard slaps to the face, fuming with rage inside.

Back in Jinnan, he’d never been treated like this—especially not when he’d been brought in by Xuan Ling herself to hold down the scene.

Now, instead of holding down the scene, he was slapped twice in front of everyone by this teenager.

Evan Lin had him by the neck, making him look like a helpless little chick about to be slaughtered.

"Still acting tough, huh?"

Evan tossed him aside, letting him crash to the floor.

Hugh Hu rolled across the ground several times before finally managing to steady himself.

Just as Hugh Hu was about to get up, Evan Lin casually dragged a chair over, set it on Hugh’s back, and sat down without hesitation.

"Get off me!"

With the chair pressing down on him, Hugh Hu’s head smacked into the floor, making him grimace in pain. Right now, he looked just like a turtle stuck with a giant shell.

His face was ashen, fists clenched tight, limbs twisting and struggling—but he just couldn’t get up, let alone throw Evan Lin off his back.

"Xiao Yi! Hurry, get off him and let him up!" Lucy Lu’s voice trembled as she watched Evan Lin’s move.

That’s someone from the Jinnan Military District!

"Don’t worry, Auntie Lu. I’ve got this."

Evan Lin flashed her a reassuring smile.

"You’ve got a death wish! Do you realize you’re committing a crime? He’s Battalion Commander Hu!" Quentin Yu shouted, pointing furiously at Evan Lin’s face.

"Some wild brat from the countryside—who even raised you? No manners at all! I can’t imagine what kind of family would produce a kid like you. Absolutely pathetic!" Helen Qi spat, saliva flying everywhere.

She was just getting warmed up with her insults when Evan Lin glanced at her, his eyes cold and indifferent.

Pfft!

A dull thud sounded.

Quentin Yu, who’d just been pointing at Evan Lin, suddenly found his finger whipping around uncontrollably—right at Helen Qi.

Under Helen Qi’s stunned gaze, Quentin Yu’s finger jabbed straight up her nostril!

The move happened so suddenly that Helen Qi was caught completely off guard—her next insult stuck in her throat as she gasped in shock.

"What are you doing?!"

Helen Qi threw her head back, nostrils impaled by Quentin Yu’s finger, and let out a panicked shriek.

"I... I have no idea! My hand just moved on its own!"

Quentin Yu shouted, eyes wide, desperately trying to pull his right hand back.

But he realized—he couldn’t control his hand at all!

Pfft!

Before Helen Qi could react, Quentin Yu’s next finger was already shoved up her other nostril.

Quentin Yu’s two fingers twisted wildly inside her nose, then suddenly yanked out. Just as Helen Qi gasped for air, ready to explode at Quentin Yu, his two snot-smeared fingers shot straight into her mouth.

"Ugh!"

Helen Qi’s face turned deathly pale as Quentin Yu shoved her up against the wall.

Her stomach churned violently as she flailed and slapped at Quentin Yu, kicking his belly. But Quentin just dumbly kept shoving his fingers deeper into her mouth.

"Hey! Honey, I swear it wasn’t on purpose! I really didn’t mean it!"

Quentin Yu begged for mercy as Helen Qi battered him, his face bruised and miserable.

But his fingers kept pushing forward until Helen Qi was foaming at the mouth, her eyes rolling back. Only then did he finally pull his hand out.

The whole scene looked utterly bizarre to Charles Chen and the others watching.

Linda Guan, usually so composed, was shaken to her core. Disgust flashed across her eyes, and she almost regretted inviting Quentin Yu and Helen Qi—maybe there really was something wrong with those two.

Hugh Hu, still pinned under Evan Lin’s chair, forgot all about struggling. He just stared blankly at their performance for ages—until he nearly gagged from disgust and snapped out of it.

"Damn it! This whole room’s full of lunatics!"

Hugh Hu cursed, twisting his head to look at Linda Guan. "Xiao Guan! Call my brother! Call my brother!"

"He’s right next door, in the middle of a drill! It’s a joint riot-control exercise with the Capitalview police! Call him!"

Hugh Hu was practically shouting.

"Wait! Let’s talk this out! Evan, get down—just get down, okay?" Charles Chen’s face changed dramatically at those words.

Hugh Hu’s brother was probably even higher-ranked than him. And with the drill happening right next door, there’d be plenty of people around.

If Linda Guan really made that call, Evan Lin would almost certainly be in deep trouble.

"We can negotiate about the phone call. The real question is, what do you want? Leave Jinnan, stay away from Oceanport—how about it?"

Linda Guan didn’t even look at Charles Chen. She fixed her gaze on Evan Lin, sitting calmly on the chair.

"Xiao Yi, just agree to it!" Lucy Lu was terrified. If Evan Lin really got dragged into the Jinnan Military District, there was no way her connections could get him out.

Lucy Lu was frantic with worry.

"Don’t worry. Go ahead and make the call."

Evan Lin sneered, looking at Linda Guan without a trace of fear.

"How ungrateful!"

Linda Guan’s face darkened instantly. She no longer cared to give Evan Lin any way out.

She picked up her phone, took a deep breath, and quickly dialed a number.

"Hello, is this Major Hu?"

Linda Guan’s tone softened, but there was still a hint of nervousness when she spoke to the person on the other end.

Even though she had this number, she’d never dared to call it before—especially since Major Hu didn’t seem very pleased with his younger brother Hugh Hu.
