The Youth Is Smiling

2/14/2026

The young man was smiling.

His smile was clean, bright, and carried that faint indifference that had never changed from beginning to end.

That smile made Song Yana feel an inexplicable sense of panic deep inside.

"Go ahead, little brother."

Gavin Yu turned his head and looked at Evan Lin.

He was still as sincere as ever: "As long as you're willing to let Serena Tong join my film, whatever request you have, just say it."

If I can fulfill it, I won't hesitate for a second."

Gavin Yu was fully prepared.

He studied the young man in front of him, weighing the price he might have to pay—it wouldn't be small.

But Gavin Yu really, really wanted Serena Tong to join the cast.

This film needed her.

This film was his dream.

"Director Yu, my request is simple. You don't need to be so nervous."

Evan Lin smiled lightly, leaning back in his chair.

He glanced at Kevin Zhou, who was standing there.

"You really know how to talk. Just now, I was actually thinking about throwing you out of this crew."

"Honestly, people like you make me sick just looking at you."

"I'm afraid that after Serena Tong finishes filming, just knowing someone like you exists would disgust me so much I'd be too lazy to watch it."

"Such a turn-off."

Evan Lin's tone was calm.

As soon as Evan spoke, Kevin Zhou's face turned pale with anger, but quickly, he couldn't help feeling a surge of relief.

This kid's request just now was actually to kick him out of the crew?

That was way too dangerous!

Kevin Zhou and Lily Tan exchanged a glance, both seeing the same relief in each other's eyes.

Relief that Kevin Zhou had spoken up earlier.

If kicking Kevin Zhou out had really been the condition for Serena Tong joining, Kevin Zhou was sure Gavin Yu wouldn't have hesitated for a second.

Even if Kevin Zhou had managed to bring in Master Liang.

Oh, Master Liang was still out cold.

Even with Master Liang's status in the industry, he still couldn't compare to Serena Tong.

"That idea of yours is really selfish!"

Kevin Zhou snapped out of it and looked at Evan Lin, feeling as if he'd narrowly escaped disaster.

He spoke coldly, "How can you, for your own selfish reasons, ask Gavin Yu to lower the quality of his work?"

The roles Gavin Yu chooses are selected with a professional eye.

What's the use if you don't like me?

Kevin Zhou spoke with righteous indignation.

He linked his own participation to the overall quality of the film.

In reality, he wasn't that important, but he still spoke as if he was on Gavin Yu's side.

Gavin Yu listened nearby, smiling broadly, feeling even more appreciative of Kevin Zhou.

"I didn't expect Kevin Zhou to understand me so well. I'm truly gratified."

"A true confidant, a true confidant."
