Are Mr and Mrs Xiao Easy to Get Along With

12/19/2025

"So that's what this is about?" Evan Xiao raised an eyebrow.

"A grand wedding needs at least two or three months of planning! But it's already almost August, and there's not a single sign of activity at the General's Manor!"

"What are you worried about?" Evan Xiao asked, amused.

"I'm not worried about anything. I'm just... confused!"

"Silly girl." Evan Xiao tapped her forehead. "Of course I can't marry you here. Did you forget? I have parents and a whole family—we have to do it back home!"

"But it's already so late, and you've never taken me to meet them. Our parents haven't even met each other yet."

"My father has been in seclusion," Evan Xiao explained. "There's an important celebration next month, so he'll definitely come out for that. I'll take you to meet my parents then."

"Really?" Grace suddenly felt a little nervous.

Evan Xiao nodded. "The wedding date will be set according to our family's traditions. I'll handle things with your father, don't worry."

"Alright, but... are Mr. and Mrs. Xiao easy to get along with?"

Evan Xiao said, "They're easy to get along with."

"Besides your parents, who else is in your family? I want to prepare gifts for everyone."

"I have five brothers, one sister, seven or eight uncles, three aunts, and over a hundred cousins—both paternal and maternal. That's just the close relatives, not even counting the extended family... I won't list them all."

Grace: "...That many?"

"Yeah."

"Then... I guess I'll just prepare gifts for your parents."

"Yeah, that's what I was thinking too."

Grace fell silent.

He went back to reading paperwork, looking a bit troubled by what was written inside.

"What does it say?" Grace asked.

"It's all military stuff," Evan Xiao replied. "I'm really busy right now, go hang out with Shannon!"

Grace got up, feeling a little down, and left the room.

Actually, she'd already secretly asked Shannon about Evan's hometown several times.

But Shannon always said she couldn't talk about it.

She also said the General was hiding his true identity, lying low here, and there were too many people watching him—so Grace shouldn't ask anything. When the time comes, Evan will explain everything himself.

So when she saw Shannon, Grace didn't ask anything. She just said, "Shannon, do you know what Evan just told me?"

"What?"

"He said... next month he's taking me home to meet his parents!"

"Really?" Shannon's eyes lit up.

Grace nodded, "Um... Shannon, will you come with me? I'm... I'm a little nervous."

Shannon covered her mouth and laughed, "Of course! I'll go with you!"

"You're the best!" Grace hugged her, moved. "By the way, I've been so caught up with wedding stuff lately, I almost forgot!"

"Forgot what?"

"A few days ago, I saw my mentor and mentioned you two. Guess what he said?"

"Us... us? What about us?" Shannon always stammered when it came to Jun Lionhead.

"A matchmaking dinner! Last time you two met, there was no result!" Grace said. "I brought it up again—guess what he said?"

Shannon's breathing grew a little uneven. "What did he say?"

"He said, if you're willing to marry him, he'd be absolutely thrilled!" Grace grinned.

Shannon spaced out for a moment. "Really?"

"You think I'd joke about something like this?" Grace leaned in, resting her chin on her hands, staring at her. "Well? Want to be my mentor's wife?"

"You're definitely teasing me!" Shannon's face turned bright red.
