Love Rival

"Yvette, why aren't you saying anything?"

Jenna Jiang noticed Yvette Ye staying quiet and pressed her again.

"Is there really anything I need to say?"

Yvette Ye sighed, "If you really want me to take a stand, then I'll say this: from every angle, he's more qualified to join Moonshade than Harvey Li."

"He's a true powerhouse—a strong one who always surprises people. I'm absolutely certain about that."

Everyone was taken aback by Yvette's serious words.

The other Moonshade members glanced at her in surprise.

Everyone in Moonshade knew that Yvette Ye seemed easy to get along with—especially if you gave her enough potato chips, her mood was usually great.

But at the same time, Yvette was also someone who was hard to truly get close to.

No matter how good your relationship with her seemed on the surface, when it came to a critical moment—a real decision—she would always stand on what she believed was right.

She never changed her stance because of personal relationships, nor did she alter her thinking for any other reason.

So for Yvette to openly support someone like this—even at the cost of not giving face to her close friend Jenna Jiang—made a lot of people instantly more curious about that newcomer in Moonshade.

"So he's just some kid who likes to brag? And you really stand up for him?"

A woman chewing on a grass stem looked at Yvette, puzzled. "Are you feverish or something? Or did that kid put some kind of voodoo spell on you?"

"Or maybe, Moonshade really picked up a treasure this time—a freakish monster genius who just walked in out of nowhere?"

She couldn't help rolling her eyes at her own words.

These days, even the most monstrous genius couldn't possibly challenge an entire Ancient Martial Clan at such a young age!

If someone like that really existed, 'monster' wouldn't even begin to cover it.

That would basically make him an immortal!

Does anyone actually believe immortals exist in this world?

Maybe they do exist.

But none of the Moonshade people had ever seen one.

"If he's really that amazing, why hasn't he come down from above yet?"

Jenna had hoped Yvette would support her, but Yvette's blunt rebuttal left her face looking especially sour.

She was annoyed—not just at Yvette defending that kid, who had crushed Harvey Li on the helicopter—but even more at how his arrival seemed to push her and Yvette further apart.

In Yvette's heart, did that kid really mean more to her than Jenna did?

Jenna had always thought she was Yvette's best friend!

Especially since Jenna only vaguely knew a bit about Yvette's real background.

The Ye Family wasn't classified as an Ancient Martial Clan, but the power behind Yvette Ye was definitely no weaker than one!

Otherwise, there was no way they could have raised someone like Yvette.

"I already said, he just got a last-minute mission—he might have to rush to another location."

Yvette's tone turned hard as she looked at Jenna, frowning inwardly.

She didn't want to argue about this any further.

Otherwise, Evan Lin would face even more resistance trying to integrate into Moonshade later.

Most of the people in Moonshade had climbed up step by step from Nightstar, relying on their own strength—and Evan Lin's entry was a total exception.

He'd only finished a single mission—not even under a Nightstar identity—yet got recruited straight in, so it was natural for them to feel some resentment.

"What mission? Why not tell us?"

Jenna pressed harder: "I don't buy it. What task could possibly outrank a Mysterious Ruins mission right now?"

"I bet he's just scared of heights and can't parachute, so he had to ride the helicopter back!"

Jenna sneered repeatedly.

"Can't parachute?"

"Afraid of heights?"

"Man, this guy's doomed. Does he really think every Moonshade mission lets the helicopter park right at the target?"

A bunch of people burst out laughing at Jenna's words.

That kind of thing just didn't happen in Moonshade.

Listening to the laughter around her, Yvette felt indignant, but also deeply powerless.

What could she do?

Start a fight?

But there was no way Yvette could take on so many people alone.

Even if she won, it wouldn't change the fact that Evan Lin hadn't jumped out of the helicopter yet.

"Don't tell me—you actually like that guy?"

Jenna switched topics when Yvette stayed silent, and as soon as she said it, everyone stared at Yvette in sudden realization.

"If that's the case, Yvette, you have my vote!" a man who hadn't spoken before chimed in.

"Yeah, haha, I'm with you too. But if Qin Qifan finds out, that guy's situation will get even tougher!" another person laughed.

Qin Qifan had plenty of clout in Moonshade.

As one of Moonshade's veteran experts, Qin Qifan's skills were recognized by everyone—and every mission, he played a vital role.

He was openly and aggressively pursuing Yvette.

Relentlessly pursuing her, in fact.

Yvette had had plenty of admirers before, but Qin Qifan had shut them all down, one after another.

After that, anyone who knew even a bit about Yvette's background didn't dare make a move on her.

The reason was simple: nobody wanted Qin Qifan coming after them.

Yvette had never been interested in anyone, nor had she felt anything special for Qin Qifan. So she just let him do his thing, ignoring him—which conveniently kept the pests away.

But Yvette wasn't interested in Qin Qifan either.

Now that Jenna had brought up the topic, Yvette suddenly felt uneasy.

Sure enough, the faces of everyone in Moonshade lit up with excitement.

They were excited because it meant there was drama to watch.

Everyone was waiting to see Qin Qifan deal with that guy!

"You guys..."

Yvette's expression changed—she was about to argue.

"Where's Qifan? Why isn't he here?"

Harvey Li glanced around—he got along well with Qin Qifan: "I need to tell him about this right away!"

"Let him deal with his rival properly!"

"That kid's as good as dead!"
