Rhea Redmoon’s hardline stance eventually forced the God-Demon Corps to compromise and spare the Nangong Family’s surviving Divines. However, most of the Seven-Star God-Demons now looked at Ian Song with barely concealed hostility.
While Ian was grateful to Rhea Redmoon, he was also a little frustrated. Was his big sister really standing up for him, or just making more enemies on his behalf?
Fortunately, he didn’t let it bother him too much.
Once he broke through to Lower Heavenly God, he figured he’d be able to protect himself even against Upper Heavenly Gods.
Next—
The warship started up again, heading straight for the Nangong Family’s main estate.
But when the warship reached the Nangong Family, their protective grand array was already activated.
The Seven-Star God-Demons tried to break through, only to find the Nangong Family’s grand array unbelievably solid. They couldn’t budge it at all, and even the warship couldn’t force its way in because the entire surrounding void had been sealed off.
“So this is the true heritage of a God-King-lineage family!”
Seeing the grand array, Ian couldn’t help but marvel to himself.
He considered himself pretty accomplished in formations, but laying out something on this scale was still far beyond him. Breaking the entire array was impossible, but opening up a single gap to let the warship through? That he could manage.
For now, though, he kept quiet. The Nangong Family was a juicy target, and he had no reason not to take a bite. He’d wait until the Seven-Star God-Demons ran out of options, then offer to break the array himself—at the right price.
A day passed.
Brennan Cliff and the other Seven-Star God-Demons were visibly irritated. After an entire day of trying every method they could think of, none of them could break the Nangong Family’s defensive grand array. They were starting to suspect it had been laid down by the Nangong Family’s own God-King.
“Silverwing, Redmoon, Star River God—do any of you have a way to break the Nangong Family’s defenses?”
The three had kept silent all day, never making a move.
After all, the God-Demon Corps had gotten the lion’s share of the spoils in the canyon, while those three barely got anything. Their silence was a clear sign of their discontent.
“Here’s my chance!”
Ian’s heart skipped a beat. He immediately sent a sound transmission to Galen Silverwing, Rhea Redmoon, and Star River God: “I can get us through this defensive array. Feel free to name your terms—and make sure they agree to spare the Nangong Family’s Divines!”
The three immediately perked up. As top-tier Upper Heavenly Gods, even they couldn’t resist the temptation of a God-King-lineage family’s treasures.
The three quickly exchanged a few words, and Galen Silverwing spoke up: “We have a way in! But the three of us get seventy percent of the haul.”
“No way!”
When Galen Silverwing made such a bold demand, Brennan Cliff immediately refused without hesitation.
Galen Silverwing just shrugged, unfazed. “Suit yourself. Break the array on your own, then! This defensive grand array was probably laid by a God-King. Even most God-Kings who aren’t formation experts would struggle to break it. You guys have God-Kings in the Corps, right? Just summon a few and brute-force your way through!”
“Summon a God-King?”
Was he kidding?
Would a God-King really bother with something so trivial?
And even if they did call in a God-King, over ninety percent of the Nangong Family’s resources would end up in the God-King’s hands. All their scheming would only earn them scraps, and the pseudo–God-King godhead would have to go to the God-Demon Corps anyway.
No way the Seven-Star God-Demons would accept that.
But giving up seventy percent was too much for them to stomach. So, for the next two days, all fifteen Seven-Star God-Demons launched nonstop attacks on the Nangong Family’s defensive array.
But the array was simply too formidable. Even with all fifteen Seven-Star God-Demons attacking at full strength, they couldn’t break through.
With no other choice, Brennan Cliff finally approached Galen Silverwing to negotiate again. He offered them twenty percent if they could break the array.
In fact, the God-Demon Corps had only planned to give Galen Silverwing’s group ten percent at first.
“Seventy percent! Not a percent less!”
Galen Silverwing was getting bolder by the minute.
Brennan Cliff and the others were furious, wishing they could just kill all three of them—but they didn’t dare make a move.
For one, Galen Silverwing and Rhea Redmoon had survived an ambush by thirty-six Upper Heavenly Gods and escaped unharmed. Star River God, Frank Shaw, was also a ruthless figure—a top-tier Upper Heavenly God whose strength was probably on par with an Eight-Star God-Demon.
“Thirty percent! Not a percent more!”
Brennan Cliff said through gritted teeth.
“Seventy percent. Not a single percent less!” Galen Silverwing seemed to have them completely cornered.
In the end.
Both sides reached an agreement: the harvest from the Nangong Family would be split, with the God-Demon Corps taking fifty percent, while Silverwing Heavenly God, Redmoon Heavenly God, and Frank Shaw claimed the remaining half. There was one additional condition: the surviving gods of the Nangong Family would be spared.
"Little brother, break the formation!"
Redmoon Heavenly God smiled at Ian Song.
"Alright!"
Ian nodded, walked up to the defensive grand array, and produced several formation disks. After tossing them out, he began weaving hand-seals rapidly. A new array erupted into existence, quickly merging with the defensive grand array of the Nangong Family.
"Traitor!"
Seeing this, Baili Yashan’s face turned extremely ugly. He hadn’t expected that the key to breaking the formation was actually in Ian’s hands. If they’d known earlier, they wouldn’t have had to give up half the spoils.
Thinking of this, his gaze toward Ian grew even more murderous.
"Here’s a word of advice—don’t even think about touching my little brother. Otherwise, be careful, I’ll take your life myself!"
Redmoon Heavenly God threatened coldly.
"Hmph!"
Baili Yashan snorted coldly, but his hatred for Ian only deepened.
Ian gave a wry smile to himself. Was this big sister here just to help me attract more enemies?
After unleashing a flurry of hand-seals, most of Ian’s array had already fused into the Nangong Family’s defensive grand array.
"Alright, everyone come into my array!"
With some skepticism, everyone stepped into Ian’s array. Under his guidance, they actually managed to pass through the Nangong Family’s defensive grand array.
For a moment, everyone’s gaze toward Ian changed.
This was a formation that even a group of Upper Heavenly Gods couldn’t crack, yet he, an Upper-Rank God, had done it. Clearly, this kid’s true mastery of formations had reached a terrifying level.
"Little brother, stick with your big sister!"
Redmoon Heavenly God called out.
"Got it!"
Ian nodded.
Even though the Nangong Family still had more than ten Heavenly Gods stationed at home, how could they possibly be a match for this group?
In less than fifteen minutes, all the Nangong Family’s Heavenly Gods were wiped out. As for the lesser gods, they didn’t even have a chance to resist.
Next, the Nangong Family’s treasure vaults were opened one after another.
A mountain of god-crystals.
They were counted in the billions.
On top of that, there were vast amounts of divine medicines, pills, and weapons.
Even the Upper Heavenly Gods present couldn’t help but turn green with envy. Ian could only sigh—this Nangong Family was unbelievably wealthy.
But thinking about it, he realized it made sense. The Nangong Family had existed for millions of years; with so much time to accumulate wealth, how could they be anything but extraordinary?
